Stunning! Thanks for the review.
How would you rate the novel itself?

>1 wcarter: I dare to mention recently discovered details about the author. Ivor Bannet died prematurely in August 1949.

>2 BorisG: I've heard praise of the novel.

I recently saw this pop up on eBay for (iirc?) around 200 USD, considered getting it and then it was gone the next day.
I think I mostly hesitated because there weren't any reviews of the story itself that I could find. (the book looked lovely of course)

Standard editions are much cheaper than the full leather special edition.

>2 BorisG:
It has been a while since I have read it, but I remember that it is a very well written novel that uses several Greek myths and Greek histories as a basis for its plot. The novel has a very good story line and an unusual view of Heracles, as well as surprising interpretations of some of myths about him. Part of the story takes place on Atlantis, if I remember correctly. The story is told from a point of view of an Amazon general.

I liked it enough to purchase the second Bannet's book: The Arrows of the Sun, which was also very good (mostly).
