I just received an email with a link to a survey about desired reprints.
Why not workshop suggestions here? I don't have an immediate choice (maybe one will occur to me if I think longer), but some social coordination might make a shared choice leave a bigger impression with decision makers.
So what are some of your top choices?
Here's the full text describing the survey from the email body:
We’ve had so many gems pass through Folio’s presses over the years and we often hear from readers about the ones they still dream of seeing again. So, we thought: why not let you decide which favourites we should bring back?
Maybe you’d love another chance to wander through the enchanted paths of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, or return to the smoky glow of Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451.
Your vote will help us bring a Folio favourite back to life. Which book would you like to welcome back into your collection?

I already have their books I want - having been around since 2012 is helpful there. I would imagine that the Robert Heinleins would do well for them in addition to the titles they mention in the survey.

Just filled it out. I already have most of the books in the survey so I voted for One Hundred Years of Solitude as the one I'd most likely buy out of those I don't have.
There was also a spot at the bottom to write in a suggestion. I entered War and Peace. I'm still upset that I passed on it during the sale a few years ago where it went out of print.
It will be interesting to see which title wins. If I had to guess, I'd say East of Eden.

I selected One Hundred Years of Solitude as well. I don't have it, and would love to read it in that pretty version some day.
I suggested the Miss Marple Box Set of 4 books. It would be a success, for sure. I would definitely want it and not have to pay the 400-500€ that it goes for nowadays.

I have stopped getting these survey emails. Their tech team should be reviewed. The new website does not work properly on my mac Chrome and have to open it on Safari. Not sure if others are facing these issues as well?.

Would someone be able to share the titles on the survey? I don't receive those emails.
There's a few I'm sorry I missed out on.... top of the list would be The One Hundred and One Dalmatians I think.

I voted for the Gabbo because, as he used to say: “It’s better to spend One Hundred Years of Solitude than one hour in bad company”
Just kidding.
I found that one agreeable, though perhaps too long. Like thirty of those hundred years should have been cut. I don’t think it will win, though.

Very happy to see Malay Archipelago on the list, but I'd be happy with the Alexander trilogy too!
16PartTimeBookAddict
I picked the Malay Archipelago, but with Folio's price hikes, it most likely will be sold at current aftermarket rates.
Also wrote in the John Masefield novels, which might be attainable.

Some titles from before I started collecting that are far too expensive second hand:
Moby Dick, Foucault’s Pendulum, Zarathustra, Icelandic Sagas

My write-in was Finnegans Wake.

I went for Malay Archipelago but even if they did bring it back I couldn't afford it.
Same goes for my suggestion of the Surinam Album.

Yes, I read it and I am not really that emotionally attached to it, so I sold it. Currently I am debating with myself if I should sell 20,000 Leagues, but that book I like much more, so I will probably keep that.
I once really regretted not selling the Harper Voyager special editions of a Song of Ice and Fire. When the TV series started they went for 1000€ and more (all 5 books).
I was annoyed about myself later, that I didn’t just sell them earlier.
When I did, I just got 300€ for all 5

I wish they brought back Middlemarch, though with their ROW price hikes it would be too much to pay for anyway. When it was still on sale they weren't shipping to my destination. I'll be resentful of this forever, probably.

I picked One Hundred Years of Solitude (again) and wrote in The Brothers Karamazov. I already have Crime and Punishment and Best Short Stories, but The Brothers Karamazov is really expensive to buy used. Would love a reprint.

>49 owf_117: I also wrote in Brothers Karamazov.
I had a tough choice from the pictured options, as I’d very much like a decent (or fine ideally) press to (re)issue East of Eden. However, Folio is the sole good publisher of the Butcher translation of 20,000 leagues, so I picked that.
I would like them to reissue Sound and fury too.

Malay Archipelago for me. And I added 'The Way we Live Now' by Trollope. TWWLN is almost impossible to find in the secondary market and is the best of Trollope's novels

For me it was easy to decide, but not to specify clearly which edition of War & Peace I wanted because of the 30‑character limit, so I ended up writing ‘War & Peace 2014 P&V transl.’
I hope it’s clear that I meant the beautiful two‑volume edition, translated by Richard Pevear and Larissa Volokhonsky and illustrated by Igor Karash.

I picked the Malay Archipelago. It looks interesting and sellers are asking very high prices on the secondary.

I also put Malay Archipelago. I think out of every choice it's the least likely to be done by any publisher of FS quality and higher. Possibly EP, but I don't think so. I think there's a good chance Suntup could do a Dostoevsky. I am wondering if Suntup will surprise anyone with a nonfiction choice. Suntup's choices are what he thinks will sell, but he also chooses personal favorites and I appreciate that. I don't necessarily always agree with Suntup that a certain work should of been chosen over others, but he is the most likely to publish a letterpress non-sci-fi/non-fantasy/non-horror. No Reply, Lyra, Arete, and Amaranthine also have the potential for non-"genre" works, but Suntup's current almost 12 titles/year clip offers the greatest chance of a Dostoevsky or something really out of left field. No Reply has an eclectic choice, which I love, but they're "shorter" works. CTP's titles aren't exactly typical, but so far I think they're sci-fi/fantasy/weird/horror. Copperhead seems to do classics, but again I doubt they'd do Malay Archipelago. I know I'm leaving some presses out.
62PeterFitzGerald
+1 for the Malay Archipelago.
63evilsooty999
Just requested The Brothers Karamazov.
65A.Godhelm
I picked The Sound and the Fury because the secondary market is truly nuts with that one and I like Faulkner. I wish I checked here first so I could have voted Lolita as well, but only the Kafka series came to mind.
66Cat_of_Ulthar
Stayed true to my previous choices: Malay Archipelago and Finnegan got dunagain ;-)

I wrote in Riddley Walker -- such an excellent novel.

I'd have been inclined to write in Pratchett, for all the waste of an entry it would have proved had not the last time I mentioned to CS they replied: 'Disappointingly, we're not often asked about our Pratchett titles!'
Instead, I hope for East of Eden, 20,000 Leagues under the Seas, and The Sound and the Fury.

I remember looking at the store page of Mort back then... At the time I had not read any Pratchett and it cost a penny compared to what Folio books are costing now, not to mention international shipping was less than 10 pounds. Regret tastes bitter

I would have thought people don't ask about Discworld because we heard often enough that they couldn't reprint due to rights issues - the heirs not wanting them to do continue with the special editions. I'm lucky in that I have both, but have a friend who doesn't. There are definitely people out there who would like to have these.
Speaking for myself I'm still hoping for a complete special edition. The Discworld Collector's Library doesn't work for me at all. The few illustrated by Paul Kidby are nice, but it doesn't look like there are plans to do a complete set.

The bad news is that they did up to Maskerade and that they have become very difficult to chase.
