Found: YA novel about a slightly dystopian society

this is a fiction book, i read it about six years ago, it's geared mostly towards pre teens and young teens.
it's in the point of view of this girl living in a society full of advertisements
then her distant relative (cousin i think) comes to live with them after a death in the family.
ads are new to him, so they stick close. in one scene she has to turn off his pillow or it will play ads while he sleeps.
he's bothered, and they end up leaving the city at the end of the book, but it takes a while.
i remember the cover was like, a dark highway and blurry lights or sort of? far away view of car lights?
idk, this is driving me crazy
it wasnt a very long book, sort of small with smaller text, but i read it in canadian catholic school.

Leaving simplicity? The note on its worldcat record says "Previously published under title: Ads r us" if that doesn't sound familiar.
