I have a habit of picking up second hand books and putting them at the forefront of my to-read pile (everything I've read so far this year fits into this category, oops) .. through this group I endeavor to change that.

Note: I will count a book as "off of the shelf" if I think it's been on one of my shelves for over 6 months (I don't track when I acquire books, so this will always be a guesstimate).

1: Beautiful Star, by Yukio Mishima
That has been on my shelf since July last year, having picked it up at the airport on my way out to Spain for the WCA 2024 European Championship - clearly I did not get the time that week to read it /s.

2. The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, by Robert Louis Stevenson
Took a little longer than the previous one, and I actually ended up reading many parts of it through multiple times before properly understanding the meaning - I can definitely see myself returning to read the other short stories in the back of this version too.

(apologies for using a different ticker in every post thus far, ticker factory simply is not remembering / storing the pins I'm setting, so I have to re-make it every time)

Some people here have trouble with their tickers
I just created the 'how to make a ticker' thread. It did not move from the ROOTers 2024.

3: Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, by Philip K Dick
I went into this knowing, and expecting, it to be different from the film adaptation, which I must have seen at least a dozen times, and yes, it certainly is.
Ticker Factory has yet again not remembered my ticker key, but I'm not even going to bother making a new one this time - I also won't be doing this again next year.
