It appears that many of Empress Eugenie's jewels were stolen in the latest Louvre heist. Eugene was the youngest granddaughter of Queen Victoria and wife of Napoleon III. Probably her most famous piece was her crown tiara and her coronation crown:

From what I read on the BBC website, one crown, one tiara and one brooch formerly belonging to Eugenie were stolen. The crown was found (damaged) on the escape route with the other pieces still missing. The other things stolen were from Empress Marie Louise (necklace, earrings), Queens Marie-Amalie and Hortense (tiara, necklace, earring) and the "reliquary brooch".
This is such a sad story - the probability of jewels being found and returned isn't high - they'll most likely be melted down and re-cut and we'll never see them again. History lost forever.

“Crown jewels” sounds pretty dramatic, but as you note these items didn’t exactly have a long history, compared to, say, the British crown jewels. Pretty much one off.
