I am in again, Silver, although how much reading I will get done tomorrow is suspect. Kerry and I are having our monthly gaming marathon. . .

I'm in ... wow ... dinner for 14! Gaming marathons!

I've got a quiet-ish one, just getting ready for guests and the American Thanksgiving holiday. I hope to make progress on a bunch of open books!

Saturday:

Books read from: Coach Prime by Jean-Jacques Taylor, Daisy Bates by Julia Blackburn, Moonlight in Odessa by Janet Skeslien Charles, Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon
Books finished:
Snacks: quesadilla, Envy apples slices with peanut butter, gummy bear cubs leftover from Halloween clearance, Bob's honey peanut butter bar, baked oatmeal with applesauce
Thoughts: I enjoy Coach Prime more when I can spend more than a hour at a time listening. It probably would have worked better for me on the page, even though it has one of my favorite audiobook narrators, because I'm struggling to keep all the people and their stories straight, probably especially because I have little familiarity with college football.
Non-book activities: watched figure skating on Peacock (Finlandia Trophy in Helsinki), watched more of Ken Jennings original Jeopardy run

Not a lot of reading done yesterday because I pretty much slept through the day - no sleep at all Saturday night. *sigh*

Weekend wrap

Book:
Started THE BIBLIOMANCER’S DAUGHTER last night. Met the author, Melissa Bourbon, when she came to our last book exchange meeting.
Read THE BOY WHO CRIED WOLF, B. Hennessy, to the granddaughter.

Family dinner at our house last night.
We had a pasta and salad bar. Make-your-own ice cream sundaes and cookies for dessert. There were 12 of us. Sadly, 2 stayed home with the flu. 🤒

Sunday:

Books read from: Coach Prime by Jean-Jacques Taylor, Daisy Bates by Julia Blackburn, Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon
Books finished:
Snacks: quesadilla, Envy apples slices with peanut butter, gummy bear cubs leftover from Halloween clearance, Bob's honey peanut butter bar, baked oatmeal with applesauce
Thoughts: Dragonfly in Amber has a slow beginning. I remember that about the first book, too. And it's hard to stay engaged because I don't know how much of any of this beginning stuff really matters to the rest of the book.
Non-book activities: watched figure skating on Peacock (Finlandia Trophy in Helsinki), had a walk on the greenway on my way to restorative yoga in the evening

Total books finished: 0
Total read from: 4

Watched college & pro football - all my teams won - yay! Had a nice Indian dinner at my son's house (my daughter-in-law's first husband is Indian & his mother taught her the cuisine).

Weekend wrap-up. Already looking forward to next weekend, a long holiday here in the US...

mid-Saturday update:

Books read from: Victory to Defeat: The British Army 1918–40 and the books mentioned below
Books finished: Spider Woman's Daughter: A Leaphorn, Chee & Manuelito Novel and 2034: A Novel of the Next World War
Time reading: More than 12 ... didn't keep careful count.

Snacks: I indulged a curiosity and combined a non-fat chocolate fudge Jello pudding mix with about 2 cups of Siggi's no fat yogurt, then added milk by eye to whip into a fake-o mousse. Good enough for a chocolate craving while keeping the sugar/fat low and the protein high. Proceeded to blow my good intentions with a Poblano and roasted corn burrito bowl delivery (hardly non-fat!).

Non-book activities: Trying to figure out how I can work out lightly on my bike (on rollers, stationary in my basement this winter) while listening to books. A new way to split my brain focus, but not giving up despite what the first failures might encourage. Not trying to listen to Ulysses while I do this, and certainly can't physically read but must listen to books. Any ideas welcome.
