@Lisa2013 Welcome! We're really happy to have you here. From Goodreads (GR)? If you're up for it please feel free to tell us a bit about yourself, or choose a month to select a book for our group read. You can also start your own reading journal or review thread if you would like to.

(Clicking on the group title at the top of this page will take you back to the group home page and the topic threads)

>1 TonjaE: Thank you, Tonja, and group.

I might be a lurker here, at most. I'm not sure I should have joined this group since it's been a long time since I've participated in group reads at Goodreads.

I joined because Goodreads keeps deteriorating and I wanted to be more connected with others here.

I've been a member of Goodreads since Maybe 2007 and for years I was extremely active there. I did participate in and moderate many groups.

In 2013 and since, after the Amazon sale, I have joined pretty much all the alternative sites. LibraryThing is the only one where I've stayed. I use this site mostly to catalog books (I'd love to get all my Goodreads books over here but I haven't wanted to dealw with the glitches sure to be in the downloaded file; I have a LOT of books at Goodreads) and to enter to win books. I still socialize more at Goodreads, for now anyway.

I'm not necessarily interested in group reads. My long time real world book club stopped but I still do buddy reads with one or a few friends, though mostly I read on my own. I'm a mood reader and read what I want to read when I want to read it. As I get older I'm more & more picky about what books I read, knowing that I have a limited number of books I have time left to read. Also, if I don't already own books, I'm pretty much dependent on library books I can borrow.

It's nice to be here though. Hi, everyone.

>2 Lisa2013: You are most welcome in any capacity Lisa.

I think @DebiCates is working on a guide today for Goodreaders to import their libraries here. She is very tech savy and I'm sure will be able to work around any glitches with you.

Thank you for sharing a bit about yourself and we look forward to hearing from you whenever you feel like it. :)

>2 Lisa2013: Yes, I too am glad you are here, in any capacity Lisa. I have been following your GR reviews and reads for a while.

I think more than tech-savvy, I am tenacious and very willing to ask others that are tech-savvy on LT, even to some annoyance I believe. ha I ran into trouble today with LT's import. But I have every confidence it will be solved soon.

In case you are interested, here's the link to the steps and my experience, a work in progress since the import isn't yet complete: https://www.librarything.com/topic/375859#n9027332

>4 DebiCates: Debi, Thank you. I'll check it out.

I have a couple of maybe unusual issues.

1. I have a LOT of books shelved at Goodreads, 22,495 at the moment, and I add them much faster than I cull them.

2. I have some shelves at Goodreads that I have not used here and if I can get all my books here I want to use them here too. Therefore; I want all my Goodreads information imported AND A. I'll have to combine the info for the over 800 books I have here. I'm not looking forward to that. The shelves are more accurate at Goodreads but the book data (for some of the books) is more accurate here.

I'm not looking forward to the process.

Thanks again for everything, Tonja and Debi.

P.S. I regularly export my books (and quotes) from Goodreads to my personal computer so I'm familiar with that process.

I also imported my books to TheStoryGraph at one point but found it impossible to check for how complete the import was except to know that not everything migrated over. I've since deleted my books and my account there.
