LibraryThing hosts regular "treasure hunts" where members seek specific pages to ultimately garner a "badge." As you discover the correct page, there is a notice at the top that you have found one of the treasures. At the end of the hunt, the badge you earned will permanently display on your profile page.
The hints are in rhyming verse! ha

They say that these hunts are a good way to investigate the various LT features. I think that's true but for us GR newbies it is also mighty challenging. My goal is to simply try, and perhaps learn something new along the way.
Here's the group to go when you want a hint!

Oh and LT often gives away swag for those complete the hunt - it's a random drawing.

Current hunt is the 2025 Winter Holiday Hunt and the little treasure icons are evergreen trees.
The hunt is open until 11:59pm EST, Tuesday January 6th, 2025.
Any member who finds at least two evergreen trees will be awarded an evergreen tree badge.
Members who find all 15 evergreen trees will be entered into a drawing for one of five LibraryThing (or TinyCat) prizes.
So far I have just 3 evergreen trees and I've already now forgotten where I found them. But to give you an example of one of the many places that a treasure might be found, I do remember I found one at the Early Reviewers page https://www.librarything.com/ner
Next time I'll keep better track and list the various LT pages to go that a GR newbie can at least be in the general area for a treasure.
EDIT: I found another evergreen tree for clue #1. Using the CK (Common knowledge) search for publication date. There were lots of results for 1902, but the right title (fit the hint) was near-ish to the top. I clicked it, and voila, that was the one.

>2 Bookmarque: That's very cool to see. I'm assuming that there are no badges given nor notifications across the top if you figure out a treasure page once the hunt has been closed?
5Bookmarque
I don't really know as I've never gone back to one to try.

>4 DebiCates: Your assumption is correct. Once in a while the same page (say the LT web shop) will also feature in a new treasure hunt and it would be a bit weird to see the old notification pop up side by side with the new one :-)

>5 Bookmarque: It was an idle curiosity question. >6 bnielsen: That makes perfect sense. Besides, there's extra excitement in a hunt if it is time sensitive.
