Cheli's ROOT Challenge for 2026

I am so far behind!


In 2025 I had my worst reading year since I joined LT in 2008. I did a lot of traveling and spent a great deal of time making new friends in my new hometown, so I'm sticking with the lower goal of 72 - 6 ROOTS per month since my reading doesn't see3m to have picked up with the new year.

Goal:
E-Books/Net Galley 54 Books off my e-readers or NetGalleys downloaded to my Tablet, or Books on my PC Kindle App.
Audio books 12 - Books downloaded to my PC or NetShelf.
ARDs 6 - Books that are already sitting on my shelves or ARCs/ERs awarded to me in 2025.

For every ROOT successfully cleared in 2025 I put $1 in my book bank so that at the end of the year I have money for new books!

Starting Tallies:

Tsundoku (My Unread) = 67 (down from 2025 of 93)
Audios = 45 (tututhefirst is responsible because she gifted me an Audible subscription)
Tablet/Kindle = 169

STARTING ROOT TOTAL = 281

NetGalley/ER/ARC Awards in 2026 = +7

TBRs removed from list/catalog - 0

Total ROOTS = 288

I again am aiming to read at least 50% of the new books added in the new year. I did poorly in 2025 with only 39% of my acquisitions read!

I'm starting the year with $434 in my book bank. I haven't made my purchases so far in 2026 but I record them here.

Hi Chèli, I hope you are alright and doing fine.

I've been working on numbers but there are a bunch of tickers out on the ticker thread and it slows things down. Almost down.

I got my 6 for the month done but been very busy. Helping friends move and watching my granddaughter's dance competitions.
