Since I sign out of LT after every use, I naturally have to sign in again for my next use.
Recently I have noticed several options for LT in Google Search, usually individual tabs, like "Talk", and "More", as well as "About" and "Early Reviewers". Previously there was only one, and that was the Sign In page, which often now no longer appears.
Selecting one of these options takes me directly to the relevant page. If I select "Talk", I can then select a member who has posted, and get to their profile, and then their library.
Sign in is now usually on one of these tab pages.
Is anyone else having this difficulty?
How does it affect the privacy of members?

Not a difficulty, this is expected behavior? Unless I misunderstood you.
If a person's library isn't private, it has always been available to anyone on the internet. That's not new.

>2 reconditereader: I'm not dead sure I understand what the issue is, either. But it's worth remembering that Google indexes what it wants to, and displays what it wants to, and that is not up to LibraryThing. Google crawls the web on its own. There isn't much LT can do if Google changes its behavior.

Are you searching for "Librarything sign in" specifically? That might force google to bring up the correct page.

Wouldn't it be easier to have an icon on your screen or a bookmark in your browser?

Or just go to any page and click on Sign In. I assume it would be in the same place that I see Sign Out, the upper right corner.

Thanks all.
>2 reconditereader: Not a difficulty as you say, just new behaviour, and I was wondering about its origins.
I had thought libraries which weren't private were only available to those signed in to LT.

>4 Petroglyph: That does work - thanks.
>5 MarthaJeanne: This had always worked easily, but your suggestions would too.
>6 jjwilson61: That does work, but again, I was just wondering how or why this happened. I suspect >3 waltzmn: is correct.

You have always been able to give links to your catalogue and profile to non-members. This is an important feature.

Google algorithms evolve and change. The site had always been indexed. It sounds like LT just got higher on the list of results so you can see more of it. Depending on the search term, that was already the case in some cases.
LT implemented login via Google lately - it is possible that this gave it a boost. Or something else (a site, a behavior) got penalized and LT ended up the net winner.

The other thing LT did recently was get the proxy topics unindexed. Not sure what difference that might have made.

it's at the bottom of this page https://www.librarything.com/settings/account

>12 Passwordispassword: For pity's sake, either change the user name as instructed or simply delete this account and create a new one. I refuse to believe you think being banned for proxy spam is your idea of getting a new user name, so if you persist with it, I will contact staff to draw their attention to this and not to allow your next sock puppet account

Just a positive update here, from my perspective at least - search on Google has gone back to displaying the actual sign in page on Google.
Oddly though, the robot check appears after sign out, not at sign in.
