Hello, I am new here. I would like to figure out how to change the author when it is assigned to the wrong person with the same name, or an unsorted generic name. The separate item for the other author already exists, and some of his books are assigned there, but some of his books are assigned to the generic item or a different person. Using the author panel seems to always fall back to the most used author.

>1 Flauros: I have the same problem with books- it always says the wrong linked book instead of author

https://www.librarything.com/author/livingstonedavid-2 (not sure how to link these within brackets because of the disambiguation) is the author who I want to move the books to. All of the books listed there are his. However, he is also the author of Ordo ab Chao: Volume One: The Dying-God, Ordo ab Chao: Volume Two: The Grand Lodge, Ordo ab Chao: Volume Three: Synarchy, Ordo ab Chao: Volume Four: Mind Control, Ordo ab Chao: Volume Five: The New Age, Ordo ab Chao: Volume Six: The Third Temple The Dying God: The Hidden History of Western Civilization, are also his books. Currently they are on the generic Livingstone item or a different one.
But, I would like to be a contributor here, I am experienced in dealing with authority control and bibliographic data, so is there a way to do this myself?

Over on the right, you'll see "edit the division". Click on that, and you'll see a page that allows you to assign works to authors. Just assign the appropriate "unknowns" to author2. Be sure to "Save Assignments" when you're done.

I am having a similar problem with https://www.librarything.com/work/36002919/t/Brassy-Bit-of-Aging-Crumpet-A-Memoi... which should be attributed to https://www.librarything.com/author/walshmary-1 and would appreciate any help fixing this.

Where? From the book page, the author page, or the disamb page? This doesn't appear on the right for me on any of them.

it's on the disambiguation page: https://www.librarything.com/author/livingstonedavid Under "Author division".

Any idea how to fix an author name that is multiple combined authors? For example, Smith; John, Tom, Jackson; Tomlinson, Jack

>13 Flauros: Edit the "Author information" on the work page.
Choose one of the authors to be the Primary (usually first listed on the cover?), then add each of the others as Main.

But then what happens to the empty combined author left behind? Does someone delete it, eventually?

If you find an author like that in your own catalogue, you need to edit it both in your book, and the work. This is usually a bad import from Amazon.
