I have a book with a duplicate edition. There are no copies for this duplicate, how do you delete it or merge it with the edition that does have copy?

You don't. 0 copy editions stay combined with the work.
Even if it looks the same to you, it is different to the computer. By leaving it in place it may help further copies to autocombine.

I think the OP is looking at a situation where their library contains a book that happens to have one distinct zero-copy equivalent in the LT database. In that case, the idea is to combine them, which can be achieved in various ways... I often use the workbench for that purpose https://wiki.librarything.com/index.php/Book_combining#Workbench
