At first glance, the centaur and dragon appear to be close. But then I notice that the dragon's foot is behind a turret of the castle. So either the dragon is far away and the size of Rhode Island, or the castle is made of Legos.

I favor Cheerleading Spider.

Given that the centaur seems to think that his arrow is actually going to do something 1, and the fact that the castle seems to be glued to the top of a rock, I'm going with the Lego castle theory.
The spider is just happy to be included.
1 I suppose it's also possible that it's an _enormous_ centaur.

This Tony Fiyalko dj art for the book club omnibus is quite a remarkable step down from the Michael Whelan original mmpb covers.

Apparently in addition to being Wacky, Punny, and Pervy, Xanth also has non-Euclidean dimensions, because none of that fits into the same perspective.
Maybe it's a piece of, uh, "artwork" hung on a wall depicting a regular sized person/horse combo shooting at a small dragon behind a Lego castle, and the spider is merely crawling up the canvas. Because nobody ever looks at this, so no one ever dusts it.
That arrow better work, because it's gonna be tough to get another one out of the quiver and loaded up when it's in that position. And what was the centaur standing on?
It's someone else who really liked the UAI class on "Create book covers from your kid's toy box!".
Also, did young Sir Mix consult on the backside of the horse part?

>6 GSSex-noob: This cover marks the first time that a horse's backside has made me genuinely uncomfortable.

>7 TorMented: IKR? It's not horse butt shaped! We've all seen horses, and that ain't how they're built.
This may be another case of "the artist's personal fetish creeps into the work."
