Hi, I read this book in the library in the midwest US, I think in the 2000s. It was a standard young adult paperback that looked like it could have been part of a series, but it may have been a standalone book.
In it:
* A girl (the main protagonist) works at a factory, where I believe she makes grommets.
* The girl has a terrible boss, the villain of the book; a woman who drives a sports car and I believe owns the factory.
* I believe the factory is an old castle riddled with bullet holes.
* At the beginning of the book, a dragon wakes up from a centuries-long sleep and eats a pile of grommets in the factory.
* The dragon says at some point that iron grommets are a good healthy breakfast for having when you wake up, and that dragons love to eat gold as more of a delicacy.
* The girl and the dragon team up and work together to take down the villain (somehow, I can't remember how).
I remember the setting as being ambiguously modern with specific fantasy elements like the dragon. But, like, I wouldn't be surprised to find out that this book had hoodies and tape decks in it (I just don't remember them specifically).
