Happy Arbor Day to all of LibraryThing's members! In the United States, Arbor Day originated in the state of Nebraska—up the Tree Planter's/Cornhusker State!—and is intended as a celebration of arboreal life, and a time to plant trees. How do you mark the day? What are some of your favorite books about our arboreal friends?

The Overstory: a novel / Richard Powers comes to mind since it's a recent read. Will update if anything else comes to mind.

I loved The Island of Missing Trees, by Elif Shafak, which is narrated in part by a fig tree.

I'm almost finished with When Trees Testify: Science, Wisdom, History, and America's Black Botanical Legacy by Beronda L. Montgomery and I've really enjoyed it. I don't celebrate the holiday as much as I should.
