Hello, the title of this work should be "The Protomen". https://www.librarything.com/work/21648399/t/Protomen The author's name should also be "The Protomen". https://www.librarything.com/author/protomen I noticed there were two author entities for this group and merged them, but it now displays as just "Protomen" which is not correct. The correct full name for this group is "The Protomen". How do I make this change to the work and author name? Thanks.

Down the right-hand side of the page, in the Helper Hub section, you can click on "recalculate author name" (on the author page), or "recalculate title/author" (on the work page). Whatever title / author name wins out is the version that most people have added them as.
I've done that now, and the author name includes the "the" now. The title doesn't. If the the-less title is genuinely wrong, and it's still not showing up tomorrow (to allow for the cache clearing), you can edit the canonical title (down in the Common Knowledge section on the work page).

You ought to edit your title and author. Right now everybody who has entered it, including you, has entered it wrong. Of course the work will list the wrong title and author.

I figured out how to enter the canonical title and that fixed it. I also updated it in my bookshelf. Thank you both.
I was failing to figure out how to add the LCCN, it seems like this is only something that can be done with other programs and not LibraryThing. How can that be updated? https://lccn.loc.gov/2008649587

>4 pingnova: The LCCN will only add when entered manually or by adding the item from a source with the LCCN included. Once it was in the database, it can't be changed.
ETA: Correction. Only by selecting a source.

>4 pingnova: The book would need to be entered from a source that includes it. So far you have only used Amazon. If you care about good data, you should be using library sources. I recommend using Overcat as your first source. It includes and successful library searches that others have done plus a few major doenloads.

How do I use Overcat? I tried Googling and looking around LibraryThing but I don't see a landing page or guide. I'm not sure how to change the Amazon source for my bookshelf, that's just what auto populated when I added it to my shelf. I did not actually get that item from Amazon.
I normally edit Wikidata and hop over to LibraryThing if something I'm editing needs help over here, which I notice when I add the LibraryThing ID to the Wikidata entity. The Protomen happened to be that thing today. https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q7758621 Thanks for answering my questions, I do care about data but I'm not as familiar with LibraryThing as I am with Wikidata.

You really should use the Add Book tab when adding books. It gives you more options.

>7 pingnova: On the Add Books page, you can change which data sources are available to you. Overcat is one of them.
I've attached a screencap where the link to add Overcat to your options is circled and an arrow points to it in my list for selecting it.
