YA Ghost Story

This is a pretty vague one so I'm not holding out too much hope lol. This is a book I read in upper end of primary school so that's between 2012 and 2015 and I got it from the school library so it must be very YA, definitely not like a Stephen King or something. Anyway I remember it had a fully black cover maybe with a picture of a ghost or something on the front but I'm not sure, pretty minimal cover. I remember so little about the story it's so annoying but I know the characters (maybe a family) lived in a creepy house and the two scenes I remember are a ghost being at the end of this characters bed and sitting on their bed in the night and someone sat in a rocking chair by a window and seeing something horrible happen out of the window, maybe someone getting killed but I'm not sure. Not much to go off I know. It's just been bugging me for ages I would love to reread this book because I found it so terrifying as a kid it gave me horrible nightmares. I guess I'd just like to read it as an adult and laugh at probably how not at all scary it is to me now.
