I'm looking for a book about a girl whose abusive father, who was a miner, dies of a heart attack. She has a mentally unstable sister and a man she likes named Matthew. She moves away to live with an aunt, but the aunt dies because of the sister(sister kills her, pushes her down the stairs). The sister is also pregnant and claims the baby is Matthew's, but it is actually the father's own child. The protagonist later meets a new man, falls in love and marries him, not knowing that he is a murderer by night. Does anyone know this book?
Happy ending though, as she loses everything holding her down including the husband, ends up marrying Matthew , enough to picture a happily ever after.
