We're having problems with spam, and need some new options. And we need your help.
Can you all try this? It's a fake, testing "Confirm account" system:
https://www.librarything.com/labs_confirmation.php
It's a page that, when you click to confirm, will send you a confirmation email. When you get the email, click the link.
The idea is to confirm your account is real, but don't worry about it in any way--it's not hooked up. We're just trying to get an idea of how many of you get the email, and how fast. When you click it, you'll be asked how fast you got it, and if it was in spam.

Done. It was very fast and I had no issues
3bnielsen
>2 norabelle414: I'll second that.
5SandraArdnas
Done. No issues, but those of us that get SotT are not likely to have the mail end up in spam. Someone who receives no emails from LT is a better trest for that

Wait- I don't have my school computer so I can't do this, is there a way I can change the email I used for the account?
10mlfhlibrarian
Arrived but took over a minute.

I don't see it, but my spam gets automatically deleted.
ETA I hadn't realized that I hsd to ask for it. Less than a minute. Did not land in spam.

I got it as soon as I got the first d/l of messages after opening the mail app on my phone. Less than a minute.

You can change your email address in your account settings :)

Done. Very fast (as in: less than ten seconds), not in spam.
15Hagelstein
About 45 seconds to my inbox.

>1 timspalding: A hair more than a minute in my case, but the e-mail program only scans every few seconds, so I think it actually arrived in my in-box in less than a minute, and I answered accordingly.
Depending on how often per day one has to do this, it might get inconvenient. If it's only occasional, I think this is acceptable.
It was not in spam, at least this time. If I get enough of them, Apple Mail, in its infinite idiocy, might decide to declare it spam. :-(

Just over a minute to get to my inbox.
18Bookmarque
took a bit over a minute and no issues or spam folder.
19darius52
Took two minutes and didn't show up in spam.
This seems like a reasonable solution, I've seen this kind of email verification on other websites and hopefully it (or whatever gets implemented) helps with the spam issue.

Took a couple of minutes (at most - I wasn't really timing it) and went to my inbox, NOT spam.

>13 keristars: thank you! I'm gonna make it my personal email instead of my school one since I'm leaving school entirely next year
23CtrSacredSciences
It was quick and easy.
Have a slight concern for when my helpers are here working on iPads which we don't put email or texting apps on the library ipads. Typically I'm with them, but in June hope they'll be able to do a solo session while my personal computer with institutional email are unavailable. For our situation, a code, that I could give them over the phone, would be better than a link.

>23 CtrSacredSciences: I think this would just be a one time confirmation per LT account, if so that probably wouldn't impact your helpers much.

If it went to spam for you, it might be helpful to include your email provider (Outlook, Gmail, etc.) as there may be a general problem with that provider.
26passion4reading
It took about a minute to receive the email (I had to refresh the page) and it went into my inbox.

Fairly quick - a moment or two. Not sent to spam, even with that account set to its highest filtration. But then again, LT’s already in that account’s e-ddress book …
29sarahemmm
Done. No sign after 3 minutes - either inbox or spam
ETA: Next day - definitely did not arrive anywhere

Took several minutes, but my internet provider is tinkering with upgrading and that definitely affects the speed. Didn't go to spam, and I do get SotT e-mails.
