Burnt-orange hardcover with geometric border(shapes included in the border reminded me of the New Mexico flag symbol), purchased at a school book fair around 2000–2005. Large-format anthology of children's stories. Definitely contained Dr. De Soto and a shortened version of The Bracelet by Yoshiko Uchida. Possibly contained Madeline, The Stinky Cheese Man, or a Frog-and-Toad-style story. Cover had a central illustration and a border that wrapped around the entire book.
The prompt is from chatgpt, but I went through a whole conversation with chatgpt to get to this point and it pointed here. Justification being someone who knows for sure can identify it on sight immediately and it can't find it in data as easy. Understandable, I don't have a whole lot of memory of the book which really sucks but I wanna get it for my son. I read it so many times all the way through, I'd be able to identify it on sight, but I don't remember the name or anymore books because it was so long ago.
My sister most likely got it at at local school book fair in Southern Maryland anywhere from 2000 to 2006. She would have been anywhere from 3rd to 6th grade. I would have been anywhere from 1st to 4th grade.
