I recently acquired a copy of Anacreontis Teii Odaria, printed by Giambattista Bodoni at the Regia Stamperia, Parma, in 1785.
According to Brooks and the auction catalogue, the edition was issued in several paper states: 250 copies on blue paper, 50 copies on fine paper, and a handful on even more luxurious stocks. This copy belongs to the 50-copy fine-paper issue, identified by the watermark showing a Latin cross above the initials "F.P." (Filippo Pinazzi paper).
The book remains in an attractive period half-calf binding with marbled boards and retains exceptionally generous margins throughout. The paper is remarkably thick and fresh, and the volume appears largely untrimmed. Seeing the book in hand, it is easy to understand why Bodoni's finest productions are admired as much for their architecture of the page as for the typography itself.
