I read this book in the past two years but I'm not sure when it was written.
The plot: Found dirty and alone in the forest, a toddler tells everyone she's from another world until she gets enough flack for it that she stops saying it. When she's an adult, alien ships are detected moving toward Earth and she realizes she can communicate with them. She discovers she's not the only one; there were others "seeded" across the Earth to assimilate and prep for the aliens to arrive. They are in danger and hunted, and have a few human allies who try to protect them. The ships do arrive and the "seeded" have to decide where their loyalties lie.
