I don't think this is a bug. I suspect I made some sort of mistake, but could someone please tell me how to delete one of these dates? Thank you so much!

Go to the edit book page, and you can dlete finished dates.

I think the screenshot is from the edit book page.
I've found that backspace-deleting the date, and then save, clears it. Or replacing the date with a space and save.

in general, if you click on "started today", you must not touch anything else. I found this the hard way (double entries too)

Current status is
"Closed by member. Lisa2013 (Today, 5:04 pm)" which looks as what you wanted?

>12 Lisa2013: Note that after you press “Post Message” after you had changed the status (and there needsto be something in the message - an empty message does nothing), the drop down will again show (no change). That’s how the feature works. The status change is visible on the right (or at the bottom on mobile). And there is no indication or notification for it - you need to look there :)

I don't understand. I think I've done that. More than once.
I'm hoping that LibraryThing can shut down this thread. In the meantime it will probably help if there are no new comments here. Thanks.

Threads don't get shut down. They stop when they aren't posted to. Sometimes they start being used again years later.
