I just made this list called Author's Favourites. For each author, it should contain only the work(s) they consider their best, their favourite, their magnum opus...
A collaborative list seemed like the ideal place for this. I hope some of you are triggered and can add some books + explanations!

Just so nobody makes the mistake, you may want to make it even more explicit in the list description exactly what you mean: "only the work(s) THAT AUTHOR considers their best".
Otherwise it doesn't take long for a hasty list contributor to vote for their own favourite by each of these authors.
I also like what you started, quoting the author if possible as to why it was their favourite. Maybe add a note to encourage other contributors to do that.
