I'm looking for a British paperback novel I read in the mid-1990s. It follows a German boy from pre-war Germany through his service as a Luftwaffe night-fighter pilot. He is shot down over Wales, badly injured, and taken in by a Welsh farming family who nurse him back to health. He works on the farm, later leaves under an assumed British identity and lives in a Welsh village. A local policeman becomes suspicious, so he flees to Liverpool where he meets a British woman. Later in the novel the Liverpool pub Ye Cracke is mentioned. It is not The Welsh Girl, Friend or Foe, Where No Wounds Were or A Dangerous Act of Kindness.
