Why has Mcowl not responded to my messages and why has he not posted any books in 7 years?

@McOwl may not be using the site any more for a variety of reasons. If he is not visiting the site, he will not have seen your messages, and even if he has, nobody has to respond to messages from strangers that don't interest them.

He is listed as 'Somewhat active' (Active within the last 1–5 years), in other words he has not been on the site since you joined.

You have been a member for over 10 months and have only ever bothered to enter one book. Why is that?

How the heck should anybody know?

It is intriguing — but somehow reassuring — that after hundreds of years of research into the paranormal, those who collect books about it still need to use the internet to keep in touch.

I enjoy this thread the way I enjoy Monty Python, the sheer absurdity at the start gets funnier and funnier with every added layer 😅

>2 MarthaJeanne: I am a new inexperienced reader and I am trying to find information and learn from more established members on what books to purchase within my field of interest, so that I can list them on this site. But the only thing I have found on this site are pompous egomaniacs and book-snobs

>7 aramant: You are seriously unconvincing. You have one single book until you get recommended more by a person you know nothing about aside from the books they listed here? If you visit the local library they'll happily recommend some books within your sphere of interest. Aside from getting the recommendation for books that are actually available to read, you'll also have more than one to catalogue here once you do.

Perhaps instead of slinging insults, revise you approach how you seek help and you might find your experience quite different. As it is, you do not sound inexperienced, or seeking help for that matter. You started off with the absurd question as if the member you seek is a paid service you expect to respond in a timely manner. If that is the tone of your PMs, you're unlikely to get any responses even from members who are active.

There are plenty of users on LT who catalogue books similar to McOwl, and plenty of communities beyond LT for finding similar reading material (often where people have already posted reading lists for you to peruse). Even if they haven't returned your DMs, I don't understand why you can't look at their library on your own and maybe also research whether a given book is good or not

>7 aramant: You will get more help here if you do not come over as if you feel 'entitled'. Read you first message again and ask yourself if it sounds like someone inexperienced asking for help or like somebody who thinks the world owes them anything they want.

McOwl does not need to stay on this site for your convenience. Even if he were still here, he would not have to answer any messages that he didn't feel like answering. If he did not like your messages he could delete them and block you. Calling people who do respond to you names is not likely to get you positive responses.
