I like this art, and I would read this book instantly open seeing it as a kid, hopeful for exactly what the cover promised me.

I did have this book (with this cover) when I was a kid! I read the book, but the contents did not leave as enduring an impression as the cover.

I have some Zanid in my medicine cabinet. Not enough for a tower.

Are those angular things (Tesla's latest vehicle?) supposed to be tanks of some sort? Unless that's some sort of Green Arrow-level BS arrow, it seems they'll be a bit late to the tower.

Or are they some sort of tents?

That is a much more interesting cover than the original. Lots more appropriate for the series, what with swashbuckling and aliens.

I don't recall Krishna having giant paperweights, though.

Judging by how long the beasty’s front legs are compared to the back, I think this is the ultra-rare Carolina Squat horse.

It might help if the rider had more than just the one leg.
