British children's fiction novel series, read from Hornchurch Library (Havering Public Libraries), Children's Section, in the late 1970s/early 1980s.
It was a group of children, led by (I think) Andy, presumably all children of forces personnel, as they'd meet on an abandoned Bren Gun Carrier (aka Universal Carrier). I think it was then the general "solve a mystery in each book" kind of plot. I imagine that it was set in the 1950s/60s, I don't recall it being in wartime. Hardback library editions with dust jackets as I recall.
I thought the first book was called "Andy's Secret Army" but I've been googling that, and variants thereupon, for years with no luck.
I was a real bookworm when I was in primary school, and I'd love to read so many of those books again!
