1. Books by Nobel winners
2. Pulitzer winners
3. Classical history
4. Legal
5. 20th Century fiction
6. Victorian fiction
7. American fiction
8. 1001 Books

4. Legal

(1) The Trial - I've given up on this touchstone. It keeps loading Kafka, when what I really want is Sadakat Khadi's history of criminal trials, from Socrates to O.J Simpson, which I have to say was much easier to read than Kafka!
(2) Among the Dead Cities

(2) The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy
(3) Etham Frome
(4) In Cold Blood
(5) Claudius the God
(6) A Spot of Bother

I've only just joined this challenge, and have my 50 book here:

http://www.librarything.com/talktopic.php?topic=27574

I have put each book in every category that is applicable, am I allowed to do that?? I figure towards the end of the year I will work out where the overlap is, where I need to delete the overlap and read more of a particular category... If that makes any sense!

I think that, as long as you only have the 8 overlaps at the end, it doesn't matter how you classify things in the meantime. One of the things that's great about this challenge is the flexibility. I've changed some categories several times already, for example.

Looks like you're off to a strong start, though. Good luck with the rest of the challenge!

Thank you!! I've read 27 so far this year, so on track (roughly) for 50 as well. It is incredible how having a goal and some lists give one a kick along to read more.

Thanks for visiting!!

28. Among the Dead Cities by A.C Grayling

I am going to count this as legal, although the international law connection is more tenuous than I was hoping and expecting.

My review:

'Not the most inspiring work. Although this was a searing indictment of area bombing campaigns in WW2, it was very repetitive and could have been done in half the time. Also, it wasn't as international lawwy as I thought it would be, which was a bit of a disappointment. I think area bombing is fairly obviosuly morally wrong, but what about legally??'
