Name That Book

Do y'all ever have trouble remembering the title and author of a book and it just makes you crazy? It happens to me a lot. I thought maybe it happens to some of you, too, so I opened a thread for it.

There are 2 connected books I want to read again, but I can't remember their titles or author. One was about a woman who ran an inn in a former bordello, who impulsively married a man 10 years before who comes back to their hometown and doesn't know they're still married...the sequel is about a wealthy man's daughter who was kidnapped and a widower whose wife was also kidnapped and murdered. The father forces him to marry her...I remember a robotic dog in the story, too. Does anyone know the names of the author or the books? THANKS!

The first one sounds familiar, but I don't know. Do you remember what the genre/time period was? The robotic dog thing threw me off a little.

They were contemporary. The dog was a security program in action. The hero was a security/computer expert. I remember his first name. It was Bram.

It's a Harlequin Presents from back in the late 70's or early 80's. She is an actress with a bad temper who gets thrown off a set and has nowhere to go. He owns a place in Texas? Oklahoma? and feels sorry for her so gives her a job helping on the ranch. She takes too long getting ready in the mornings so he asks what all her bottles and cosmetics are for then throws away everything but the basics. She throws a complete fit. She goes from being a total b*t*h to being a rather nice person.

It's been decades since I've read a Harlequin, but I'd love to find this one.

I've read many HP's, but that one doesn't sound familiar sorry, Morphidae.

I'm also looking for a Harlequin Presents circa '89-93. It's about a secretary (forgot her name) and her new boss who is the milionaire that takes over her company. I think his name is either Luke or Jake Fosythe. Her parents are dead so she raised her younger brother Stevie. Stevie is out of control and gets arrested for stealing a car. Fosythe suddenly shows up at the courthouse and convinces the judge to release Stevie under his care. The judge agrees and Fosythe takes the secretary and Stevie to his house. Then he takes the secty to dinner and takes her out to the dance floor so that the paparazzi take pictures of them dancing. Fosythe then makes a deal with her, and she has to pretend to be his fiance/mistress, to get rid of all the women who are always chasing him, including a "b*t*h" actress called Dulcie. The secretary overhears dulcie in a high-end boutique talking smack, and she leaves Fosythe. Meanwhile, stevie is working on the secty's car but he wasn't finished with the brakes, and she takes it, and gets into a car accident.
Sound familiar anyone? :D

sorry I checked my books between '89-95. I remember at least a similar storyline but am not quite sure.

So if I have read it, it must have been from the library. They just had HP's in the newer '90 design without the fine golden Line at the top. So my guess would be something between no. 1481-1617.

The setting in the book I read was England, is that correct?

BTW do you really spell it FOSYTHE, without an R?

Finding old books is hard work, especially with a monthly series like Harlequin. Have you seen the site www.fictiondb.com ? I don't know the details of the site (which does involve a monetary transaction), but at least you can get the titles and release dates/years that they came out. If you can't find anything else, maybe one of those titles might ring a bell...?

Okay, I have a "Name that Book" for you all. Something about the hero saving the heroine and her newborn baby who are stranded in the snow? It's one I swear I came across in this forum and thought I had read it before, but decided I'd go back to it and check later, only now I can't find it. I would say I read the description of it either in this forum, or in something linked from this forum.

It was a short story written by Linda Howard called Bluebird Winter.

Apparently Almost Forever is slightly connected too, although I'm not sure how. The hero in Bluebird appears younger in Sarah's Child though (according to an Amazon review).

I am looking for a book I read before 1996. I don't know the title or author.

It is set in England near the Thames. In the beginning the heroine is a highwayman dressed as a boy and is in charge of a group of orphaned boys. She tries to rob a nobleman and he captures her and takes her to his home to be punished. When they go to spank her they figure out she is a she and he decides to keep her and train her to be a lady.

In the end she ends up being or looking like someone important that they were looking for all along.

Some other random things: I think she had her first "tub" bath and compared it to bathing in the Thames. I also remember her walking on the servant/valet's back that had given him severe pain for years and fixing it. I believe she had long red hair. I think the age difference was about 12-15 years between h/h.

I have posted about this book on several sites and am pretty sure this is NOT a Jane Feather book. I have read all the possible ones.

I would love to find this book. I have been looking for more than 3 years now! Any help would be great!

Let's see... I read it when I was a teen so it was from sometime before about 1996. The robbery starts from like the the first page. She was young 17-18 and virginal. He was maybe 32-ish. Set in the regency era I believe. Sorry I don't remember anything else right now.

So I watched that show "Robin Hood" on BBC last night and it reminded me of a book I read back in college. Maybe someone here will remember this one:

I read it in college, so it would have been published pre-1997 or so. It's a historical romance set in the crusades time period in England. There are several secondary characters that end up being robin hood/friar tuck/allan a dale, etc. The heroine has a brother (I think maybe he's the one who ends up becoming friar tuck). The hero (who is a knight of some sort) and the heroine travel across country with her brother and some other people as a group. They're going to save some girl I think maybe, who turns out to be blind (?) and they end up running into robin hood along the way, although robin hood is not the focal point of the story. I do remember that there's a bar brawl scene at one point.

Sorry so vague, but it's been a long time since I read it. I remember really liking it though and I'd like to re-read it and maybe see if the author has written anything else.

message #7 Your book might have been Janet Dailey's Land Of Enchantment. I dont remember if the woman was an actress. But she was a beautiful woman who got stranded and a rancher gave her a job.

I "borrowed" a book trilogy from my Grandpa (who loved to read romance novels! He can't see well enough now) about 15 years ago that took place in the American colonies and some islands in the Gulf of Mexico that were used by pirates. There was a hurricane in one where the heroine lost her memory and was rescued by a Spanish galleon and was on the verge of marrying a Spanish noble when her memory came back and her pirate husband rescued her before they both were executed.
She was courted by at least one other pirate, maybe Jean LaFitte?, but always went back to her husband. I think in the 3rd book they retired and settled down on his estate in the Carolinas or Virginia under his real name.
Classic bodice-rippers all three, but I thought they were wonderful at the time and reread them at least once, maybe twice.

I have posted this message in several threads, so bear with me if I seem tedious, but I'm desperate, Does anyone recognize this story:

I need help finding this book that I read in 1998/9.
The hero: Maximillian and the heroine: Elyse/(Elysa). The story opens on Elyse overseeing the wedding preparation of her cousin (female). During the ceremony she slips away to the bridal chambers to make sure every thing is everything where she is kidnapped by Max and his cronies. Max, a nobleman, has been stripped of his title/inheritance by the king (I think he was accused of treason) so he comes to spirit away the cousin---the love of his life--before she consumates her marriage to this other nobleman who isn't accused of treason--and mistakenly gets Elyse/Elysa instead. The mistake isn't discovered until they are overseas (some German country) holed up in some dilapidated castle with little funds and no means of returning to England until the seas are "un-frozen"
The story is taking place during one of those Crusade wars, 'cause Elyse/Elsya's father is at the war--hence her reason for being at her cousin and the cousin's husband was to be going off to war the morning after the ceremony.

Any suggestions to the title and author would be really appreciated, I am longing to re-read this story. Thanx.

Dainty, that sounds an awful lot like Jude Devereaux's Velvet Angel. The hero's name was Miles, though, and the heroine's was Elizabeth. He kidnapped her (by mistake) in a rolled up carpet.

Dainty - That's So Worthy My Love by Kathleen Woodiwiss! I read it not too long ago. They end up in the north wintering over in a castle and getting involved with some bad guys from the hansiatic league. I was thinking it was set in the Elizabethan era, though. It's one of Woodiwiss' best, in my opinion.

Katy, I went to look at the synopsis for SWML and realized I've read it, too. Wasn't the heroine in that one also rolled up in a carpet?

I got three books that I need help finding (one is driving me "bonkers" 'cause I didn't like it the first time around, but message #21 sounds like it and I thought I knew the name, and the more I try to remember ahh...)

1ST: The title of the book is JEWEL. I don't remember the author. It's a "My Fair Lady" sort of plot, with the heroine: Julia/Jewel rising from the bowels of the poor to the high living of the aristocracy and her hero (Sebastian) being her "I've got time on my hands to turn a tramp into a lady" guide. He's a utter bastard, but considering that his little daughter screams evertime he comes near her that would make anyone mad at the world. Julia/Jewel married his dying brother as the brother's way of doing one good deed before his death.

2ND: This book I never read except for the excerpt on the back cover: Its set in the times of the American Revolution, the hero is pro-England and the hero pro-America. They met on a ship, the hero having a hard time comforting his travel-worn daughter, and the heroine (who happen to be a spy for her side) is carrying some priceless porcelain doll which she kindly lends the child. Somehow losses sight of them in the crowd and has to track down the guy, the child and the doll, because the doll has a secret compartment with vital info need by her side. I think the guy was also a spy for his side too. She did find them and had to pose as a nanny for hire so that she can steal the doll back before its secrets are discovered.

3RD: This one is really bugging me: It starts with a prologue of a dying duchess giving birth (to a girl, the heroine). The Duke is dead and his brother plots to do away with the new born heiress and assume the title. The dying duchess is aware of the plot and after the delivery of her daughter she details the plot in a letter which she places in the spine of her bible and (on her the last of her dying strength) she takes the newborn, warms the family seal and brands the child on her "butt". Child escape death as the henceman (kind of a Finnegan character) the villain used decided to raise the child as his own so one day he can claim the title thru the child. She's raised as a pickpocket and on her first time out she gets caught by the hero who likens her appearance to one of their ilk.

I HATED A Knight in Shining Armor, I really didn't like the ending and I've never been able to read anything more by Jude Devereaux ever since. I usually like time travel stories too.

It appears to be a book that generates a lot of divided opinion. A lot of people really like it, but an equal number seem to hate it.

I'm looking for two books:

1) is a gothic romance, and I only remember a few details. First, it was by an author I wasn't familiar with, and had a black cover with no people on it. I know that the hero accused the heroine of being a witch, which she denied, but after they slept together, he made note that she had two "witches marks" that were birthmarks above her pubic line. Also, she was clueless about sex, and asked the hero what "fellate me" meant because she overheard another man say it to a woman...he specifically said, "fellate me, woman".

2) was a contemporary, particularly series, romance, where the heroine had been raped years before and had no sexual experience otherwise. I remember he had to teach her all about sex, and she was so afraid of it, that he tied himself up for her so she wouldn't have to fear being overpowered. I remember she wore a jean skirt with buttons all the way to the floor, and they had sex on a kitchen table.

ANYONE KNOW OF A STORY LIKE THIS ? PROBABLY OUT OF PRINT BY NOW.

here's some snippets of memory and hopefully someone will read this and it will sound familiar so i can find them again.

It had a red shiny cover (ya how generic is that lol) but was about this woman who had somehow come back to life in a way and so had hard core headaches a lot her bf/just friend was in a wheelchair, ultimate nice guy. She's supposed to be watching this one guy and there is a scene with him where he is giving her a massage with oil etc. when her wheelchair friend comes in and its... ya turns out the massage guy is evil incarnate in someway and at the end of the book throws her into this grave with wheelchair guy sitting helplessly by and he somehow stands out of his chair to rescue her in someway (throughout the book there are flash backs to this religious guru who possibly raised her to life but talks about the power of love e.g. wheelchair guy standing up)

I read this book more than 10 years a go and this is all i remember. I got it at this used book sale these old ladies in my neighborhood had in their garage but after i read my grandma took and i never saw it again.

Here's another one. This book is called something like Second Chance or something to that effect. It's about this deaf woman (a scientist) who dies getting hit by a car while crossing a street after work. She goes to a "heaven" like place where this apparent angel tells her she wasn't supposed to die so she gets another chance. She ends up in the pass in the body of this woman who was in a coma (maybe?) after giving birth that woman was apparently a bitch so when the former deaf woman wakes up in her body the husband (or anyone) doesn't trust her new attitude. It ends happily ever after with her wining back the husbands love....

And one more kind of similar to the last one. Starts out with this car crash scene. Woman in car crash hits her head (apparently) and can't remember anything of who she is. Her husband finds her but she doesn't recognize him and passes out and into a coma. She wakes has no idea about anything, doesn't even recognize her own face. She goes home and the reader gradually finds out that she was not a nice person but since she can't remember...she doesn't have any of the baggage that made her mean. She lives in a huge house with her husband and these apparently French siblings who work for her and her husband. Anyways she kind of starts to remember, makes up with her husband...and eventually the French siblings turn out to be not French and are criminals who kidnap her for a large ransom from the husband. Who does end of rescuing her.

So there are my vague summaries of books i read at one type and can't remember. I've been looking for these forever it seems like cuz they were really good

Anyway, I'm pretty sure that the second one is Kristin Hannah's Once in Every Life.

The last one sounds a little like a Theresa Charles book which was published as both Dark Legacy and Happy now I go, neither of which touchstone. It's set during WW2 in England, but the family name is "De Ludith" which may be where you get the "French" part. I love this book.

Hmm....I don't think it's that one since I remember it being more contemporary then that....at least the 80s....but THanks for the help!

It was republished in the 80s, but it was very much set in WW2. Although since it was written during WW2 orignally the "feel" is more contemporary. Sort of. But the French part is not it.

scistarz, the last one sounds somewhat but not exactly like Annette Broadrick's Mystery Wife. A woman wakes up in the hospital in France after a car crash. She has amnesia and doesn't recognize the man who claims to be her husband. He lives in a castle with his mother and sister -- and they have a daughter she doesn't remember either. Eventually it turns out to be a case of mistaken identity.

I'll definately be checking out these books *fingers crossed. Too bad no one else recognizes my first one! lol

Oh, this is so exciting! The book I'm looking for is a totally trashy romance my cousin and I read for the sex scenes when we were younger. It involved this guy who was a teacher (or a professor) and had bright red hair. I *think* his name was Jonas or Jonah, but I'm not sure. Anyway, he had sex with a bunch of girls, and they all came back to this reunion with batches of redhaired children.... It was cheesy, but I remember it so vividly and wish I could find it again! Anybody recognize it?

I've got it bookmooched now, but I haven't received it yet, so I'll let you know when I get it in.

I hope someone can tell me what this book is. I read it years ago, from the library, and could never figure out what the book was after I sent it back. I don't know names either. All I know is that is isn't Stardust of Yesterday by Lynn Kurland, as I am currently reading that one.

All I remember was that the lady was going on vacation in either scotland or england. She was staying in a type of lodge or log cabin. There was something magical that appeared, some type of God or Faery. They fell in love. It was forbidden for him to love someone, so he was sent back to no-where land before a council to get his fate judged. She went home and balled her eyes out. She told her sister or someone close to her about him, and the person was convinced that it was all a dream, that she had from the plot of a book she was reading. She convinced herself of that too. Then months later he moves in across the street from her, and thats the end of the book. I keep thinking that he begged the councel to send him back as a person so they could have a life together. BUT I have a very active imagination, so I don't know if that was in there or if I just dreamed it up myself when the book was done with.

The Secret Life of Bryan was one of my faves of the visitation series. I'll have to check out fantasy, it sounds good. Ireland, it will be interesting to see if they got the right book.

CrazyDaisyLou - It kind of sounds like a short story I read in Man of My Dreams which was an anthology except the ending it much, much different. In this short story the heroine is a librarian who discovers her former lover at a solstace celebration. He left her because he had been taken by the fairies and was the consort of the fairy queen. It's probably not the same one but I thought I'd mention it. It does sound like a very good story, hope you figure out what it is.

There is a Johanna Lindsey with a plot like this. The heroine is named Rosalind or something like that and is a medieval history professor. She collects swords and bought one that was cursed and brought forth Thor, a Viking warrior. They fall in love and travel through time, and the only way to break the curse is if she voluntarily gives him the sword back, which she does to free him, but it send them back to their respective times. Her brother and best friend both tell her she's been sick and it's been a dream or some such thing and at the end Thor does appear in her time as a modern man, having appealed to Odin in Valhalla to give him a second chance at life. I think it was called Until Forever or something like that.

Her name is Roseleen, but other than that you are on the mark gracer. It is called Until Forever.

I don't usually read contemporaries, but I remember reading one when I was younger that I would like to find again. It was written in the 80s and followed the romantic lives of music prodigies who meet at school as teenagers. It followed them into adulthood and was an old school 80s epic.

The main character is a virtuoso girl who is considerably younger than the others who has a serious case of unrequited love for the big man on campus. He de-flowers her (an expression one never uses outside of a romance novel) and then walks out on her. They wind up getting together years later and she of course has only ever had sex once with him as a teenager because who knows.

They also have a male friend who is involved in some weird bi-threesome plot where he refers to some sex act as being as romantic as "changing a light bulb."

Does any of this sound familiar?

It is Birdie by Taylor Ryan. It is a Harlequin Historical published in 1996. Actually, a copy is being sold on ebay right now if you want to look at it.

Hi Winnie, i thought it might be The Rogue and the Hellion by Connie Mason as she is a highwayman, but found out to be a girl, he takes her back to teach her a lesson but she turns out to be a lady!

But then i realised it wasn't published until 2002, might have been re-released, but i thought it was worth a mention just incase.....plus the heroine has long red hair like you mentioned.

This sounds a lot like a short story by Celeste Bradley in an anthology called My Scandalous Bride. The names of the sisters are different, but the plot sounds very similar. In the Bradley story, the sisters are twins.

I was wondering if anyone could help me find the names of two books I read some years ago.
I believe they were published around 2003 (always before August 2003). I believe they are from British authors. They are both romances.
One has a yellow cover with little cakes (or cupcakes - I don't recall) on them. I think it's about some girl who falls in love with a movie or music star (I'm not 100% positive on this). She shares her house with some friends. The book is really funny.
- I've found this one: Funny Valentine by Amy Jenkins - it has no cakes or cupcakes in the cover however (my mind must be playing tricks on me).
The other one has a light blue cover and I don't remember the story that well. I do know that in the end, the guy gives the girl a unique rose that he himself (well, his company I guess) created by matching 2 types of roses.
In this last one, I just remembered that in the beginning, the girl is trying some clothes in a shop and afraid of a bee runs topless through the shop and bumps into the guy.
Well, I know it's not much, but if anyone could help, I'd be very grateful.

I have a name that book as well,

I read (maybe in the last two years) an historical romance with a lady living in her country estate *it seems like with a somewhat quirky staff* and a nobleman comes and pretends to be her butler I think...it seems like maybe her very aging butler has done something to his ankle...and I can't remember what the mystery or threat to her is, but it seems like someone was sending threatening messages in writing and in sabotage.
I also think she had a girlfriend who runs a local bookshop.

I know it isn't much to go on, but every time I think I may be remembering more of the story I start to think I'm combining two stories into one.
It's driving me batty.

There are some similarities to your book in Love Letters From a Duke by Elizabeth Boyle. The Duke's grandfather corresponds with the heroine and carries on the courtship. Grandpa dies and when grandson comes back from the war, he finds out he is engaged to her. Grandson goes to confront her, she thinks he is the new footman she has hired and the story then continues. It's pretty funny actually. Hope this helps.

Could it be The Lady in Question by Victoria Alexander? In that book, the hero is disguised as the heroine's butler. He is a spy and the powers that be believe that her deceased husband had something of importance (he was a spy too).

reesa, that was the one i was thinking of. There is also a Julia Quinn where the hero shows up and pretends to be her estate manager or something similar.

#93 - aviddiva - yes that JQ one is How to Marry a Marquis which I loved! She's the impoverished daughter of an earl (or something similar) who is working as a paid companion to a crotchety old lady who's nephew is a Marquis posing as her estate manager to get to the bottom of who is blackmailing her. Very funny and entertaining!

I have a vague memory of one like that as well, but can't quite place it. In the meantime, there was one, I think it was Mad About the Duke by Elizabeth Boyle...anyway, if memory serves, she thinks he's a lawyer or something and he isn't looking for a bride, but he helps her to find a titled husband and is having a good time setting up an introduction to a kid first i think and so on.

I need some help with a book title too, It's a historical romance and the lady poses as a highwayman to take cre of the estate. Her brother and father were really cruel to her and think both are dead since there is no men in the family the estate was given as a gift to a trusted knight/spy by the regent prince. The lady also posed as an ugly crone on the night their supposed meeting.

Not quite sure this fits the bill but My Lady Notorius by Jo Beverley has a highwayman heroine with a cruel father and brother. She is trying to protect her widowed sister and baby who the father is trying to marry off to some awful man. The book is part of the Malloren series and takes place in Georgian England.

I'm looking for a book that's been bugging me for about a month now. I don't know the title or author or character names. Its contemporary, I believe, & set in New Orleans &/Louisiana. I think the "hero" is from a well-known, well-off family. I know the "heroine" is from a poor family. She has red hair. Hi, all--I'm trying to find a certain book. It was out in paperback before 2008 (probably well before that). The setting is definitely 19th century or earlier (nobility, etc.). I remember two main things about it: earlier on, there's a scene where the heroine is in the library with the hero (moonlight, filmy nightgown, lots of sexual tension); later, he kidnaps her and they're in an inn--very steamy sex then. If any of you can help, it would be much appreciated!

Isisreads, if you reverse the order of the scenes (with the library later than the inn), there are two scenes very similar to what you've described in Judith Ivory's Untie My Heart. It's my least favourite Ivory book but lots of other people absolutely love it.

Of course, an inn and a library are kind of popular settings for historical romance, so any other details you can supply might help readers here pinpoint the book you're looking for.

I'm looking for a book I read around 5 or 6 years ago (so let's say 2005 for starters) that I picked up at a book sale at the local library. So it had probably been around for a while before that.

The setting of the novel is I believe in a sort of system similar to 19th or 18th century England where there were still nobles around that controlled estates and whatnot. Additionally, fine carriages and at least unsophisticated firearms were around too if I remember correctly.

The plot revolves around a heroine named Kate (or something similar - I want to say her full name was Kathleen or Katherine or something along those lines) who has gotten stuck with running the family estate because her brother, who should be in charge, is incompetent and doesn't really do anything. At the same time she's riding around in dark clothes on a black horse, holding up stagecoaches for some odd reason. It had to do with the family honor - I want to say she was looking to catch smugglers or something along those lines? Don't remember too well. But she's holding up these coaches looking for something.

Now a gentleman from somewhere else visits the estate for a bit for some reason or another and love begins to spark between him and Kate (don't remember his name, sorry). He begins to deduce that she's the highwayman in question and follows her one night when she makes a run. Things go wrong on this trip and she gets shot by a guy in the carriage but the gentleman saves her and brings her back to her home. He then covers for her in order to make sure no one else found out about her double life.

Near the end of the story Kate finds that some of her brother's friends (one creepy guy in particular who keeps on hitting on her) are performing some criminal activity on the family land. She gets captured and the gentleman goes to save her, killing the ringleader in a duel.

So yeah sorry there aren't too many specific details but that's what I remember from the book. Hope someone can help me find it - even a couple of general titles that might fit the profile would help!

Hello from Australia – I am searching for a book – unknown title or author... I read it in the late 80’s, but I’m sure it was an old book then. Its a historical romance – (typically) about a long black haired beauty – she’s strong willed and gorgeous (aren’t they all?). I’m fairly certain she went by one name only, and it was set in the days of old English pirates. The other central character is the dashing pirate who attempts to seduce and control her. I am new to this group, and I was hoping to get some help finding a book i read around 2001- 2003. It is basically about a temporary housekeeper or a helper who is 8 months pregnant, and you later find out that she is a virgin. The owner of the house who is a businessman, ends up falling in love with her. I think in the scene that she tells the hero that she is a virgin is where she is getting made fun off by local boys, as she is young and seen as easy because she winds up pregnant. She is actually a surrogate for her sister and her husband, but both die in an accident leaving her alone. To take care of herself and the child, she gets this temp job. I believe she is Italian. He also helps her give birth to the child in his house, which i think is a girl. The last scene is of them getting married, and she is walking down the aisle, looking at the baby and thinking about everything. I have been trying to recall this book for a long time but as it is one of the first ones I read, I don't remember more about it. I have looked through many book lists and themed lists to find it including all romance writers, romancewiki, and fictiondb. I would really appreciate any help i get.

@ starlightgenie - I dont think it is intrigue, blaze, or desire. But it is definitely a Harlequin/ Silhouette book because those were the only ones I used to get from the library. It could be presents, romance, or american romance.

You said you read the book in the early 2000's so I've only been looking for books in that time frame, but could it also have been published in the 1990's?

It is possible it was published in the late 90s. I was thinking the cover had yellow and blue on it... but the reason I didnt mention this earlier is because I am not as confident about it and it could be wrong.

Okay, I read this book several years ago, and can't remember what the title or author is. Its a Regency romance. The main female lives in the slums of England. I don't really remember who the hero was, he was an earl or something i think, and he takes her in and makes her over. But near the end of the book (I think) they have a fight and she returns to the slums just as a cholera outbreak hits. She has a prostitute friend who dies and because she then catches cholera as well, she loses the baby she was pregnant with. I don't know the book and really want to read it again. please helpppp me.

#132, it sounds familiarly like If You Deceive by Kresley Cole but the heroine is living in the slums of Paris. She is English but she grew up in the Paris slums. The Earl seeks her out for revenge (complicated plot) and then agrees to marry her back in England. They have a short lived blissful time but then have a big disagreement (she learns the truth about him) and she goes back to Paris and the slums. There is a cholera epidemic there after she leaves him in England. I think she did lose a baby, but I can't remember for sure. It was a really good book. He has a scarred face and this is the last of a trilogy of brothers. Is this it?

Hi everyone I was wondering if you can help me figure out the title of this book I read a little over a year ago

It has to do with a wealthy girl who runs away from home to find herself in the streets. She becomes friends with a group or a "gang" of pickpockets. I distinctly remember that most of them were good kids expect for one of them who I believe was named Jack (?) I'm not quite so sure. There was also a character which was a small boy who grew fond of this girl. She would read to them every night. She also fell in love with the leader of the "gang". -Theres a poor girl who works at a bar and she meets this handsome lord.
-He keeps pursuing her and she throws an apple at him (or something like that) to keep him away and let him know that she wasnt interested.
-The lord's carriage man falls in love with the girl's prostitute (loud mouth) friend.
-the girl lives with her dad in the attic (?) of a really beat up building downtown Paris?

Anyways something happens that she goes back to where she lived (neighborhood) and gets herself really sick.

The lord comes to find her and her prostitute friend tells him that she died and was in this building where they keep the bodies. He finds her on the table and she was bleeding (she had lost the babe) and she recuperates and they live happily ever after...

I also believe he was extremely rich and he left his rather luxurious home to live downtown paris (or another setting) because something happened...

I can't remember the title, author or even the character's names since its been a while since I read it...hopefully my mediocre synopsis makes sense

I remember its a historical romance, I think set somewhere in England. I think it starts off with the heroine escaping from her aristocratic/titled husband (don't remember if it was a duke, earl, etc) and she escapes with some children (a girl and maybe 2 boys). The children aren't her own. The kids were given up by their parents, because they were poor. Everyone is under the impression that the husband is kind by taking in these poor kids, but in reality he abuses them. I think he might've even been a pedophile (?). No one knows his secret except the heroine. But she escapes with these children and tries to go back and save the rest of them. Um...I don't quite remember how she meets the hero of the story, but I think he's titled as well and he tries to help out the heroine by formulating a plan since her husband is well-known. Random facts I remember about from this book is that the heroine was also abused by her husband and I think punished by being put in a cage (?) and the little girl's brother that was left behind (because they thought he was dead), I think his name might've been Michael...??? Also, I think the 2 boys that the heroine rescued are eventually adopted by the housekeeper/cook and her husband who were never able to have children...

He takes over the main house & convinces her to stay, kinda blackmailing her by doing good fir the townsfolk, & knowing the clothes in trunks were hers & slowly she begins to trust him & remove the mud from her skin & detangle her hair as they work togrtger to set the land right & fall in love.

It sounds a little like Fairest of them All by Theresa Medeiros, but I don't think the plot points all match up. The heroine is a beauty in disguise, but I don't remember the land being razed.

I have been searching for a contemporary romance novel for years. The heroine thinks she is dating a guy but he is an FBI agent? just using her to find out information about her job. I believe she is a secretary and it looks as if her boss is involved in baby smuggling or some other type of illegal activity. She is taken down to the police station, in front of everyone at work I believe and the young brash agent along with his older much more mature partner question her for hours. The brash agent even scares her by mentioning having to go into witness protection. They are apparently holding her long enough so they can install a wire tap in her house. Gets a call from crooked boss’s uncle I think? Then goes to meet up with him in Mexico/Brazil to give him some discs, ( I think).

When she meets up with him the hero who wants revenge against this man kidnaps her and gets shot in the process. I think the guy was going to kill her after she gave him the information. They hole up in a hotel for a while, he is a widower and his ex-wife was a supermodel? Remember her having to wear some of her clothing and then they made out on the balcony but he gets distracted when he sees the magazine she was reading which has the dead wives face on it. I think the hero’s wife was blown up by the uncle? They fall in love and get together for the first time while out dancing one night. I also believe she is a red head and is described as making a transition as the story goes on gaining confident and not appearing as mousy in looks anymore.

Hi everyone. I'm hoping someone can help me figure out the title and/or author of this book. I think it was a Harlequin romance but I'm not positive. Here is what it's about:

The book starts in the past when the main female character's father had just died. Her best friend's brother - whom she had a crush on as a child - asks her to marry him as a friend and move away - I think to the middle east, maybe Dubai? Anyway, the female character was a librarian at home but when they move away, he is busy working in the construction business, so she begins writing. She becomes a very popular crime writer while they are away - unbeknownst to him. Then his father has a heart attack and they must come home - I'm thinking about 3 yrs later. While back home they must act like an actual couple - so they have to sleep in the same room and of course things begin to change. While home he is asked to take over his father's company, and he also finds out about her writing accomplishments - and of course they start to have a relationship.

Does this sound familiar to anyone???

I'm hoping someone will be able to help me find a book that I read in the late 80's or early 90's....historical romance set in England and in Colonial Australia when the penal colony was in place. The male was wrongly sent to serve out a sentence in the penal colony. There is a ship with a mate named Toby. Female is Elyse.... I think.

The story progresses with bits and pieces of past lives of the man and woman and how they are trying to find their way to each other.

Part of the story is about white roses and red roses and what they stand for. Either stained glass or paintings in the manor house sparks a memory for Elyse.

It was a great book I read as a teenager. My mom cleaned out my hoards of romance novels years ago. I have tried searching on-line. It's tough not remembering the title,author or even the characters names.

i'm so glad i found this site. hopefully someone knows the book i'm talking about, cause i have been driving myself crazy in the process of trying to find this book. i went through a time where (not on purpose) all the books i got from the library involved heroes and heroines that were seriously flawed or had undergone serious tragedy in their pasts. the book that i'm looking for is a historical piece and the hero was unfortunately secretly abused as a teenager by a person near to his family. Later as an adult he meets up with his childhood friend, who is the heroine of the book. i dont remember much about the heroine, but i think she herself was a widow and had been in an abusive marriage herself. they overcome their serious emotional issues together. dont remember much more about the story. i do know that the hero didnt like his hair touch because of his previous abuse and he later kills his abuser in a duel. he later follows the heroine to america once he finds a way to support them both financially and they get married. has anyone else read this book?

I am so glad I found this! I have been going crazy for YEARS trying to find this one book I read about three years ago.... sorry for being vague, I can't remember title, author, or character names...

It is a regency romance and the heroine for some reason disguises herself as a footman(?) in a nobleman's house. The nobleman and hero is a rake/rogue who lives scandalously but has a young daughter that he loves dearly. He goes to extremes to keep her safe, even almost killing her because a fire breaks out while she is locked in her room. He becomes very close to the heroine and has a strange attraction to her (strange because he doesn't know she is female and he is a known skirt chaser).I also really remember that her gender is revealed during a fencing match between the two of them. One other thing was that during a dinner, she was sitting next to him (after being revealed as a woman) and he took advantage of the fact she was wearing pants (if you get my drift?). Maybe she was pretending to be another nobleman? I really wish I could remember more!

I'd appreciate it if anyone can think of any books this could possibly be :)

Heroine called Mel finds she has improbably only a few months of fertility left to her.
Sets out to seduce someone, fails and then asks her brother's best friend (also her best friend)who lives nearby. He finally accepts the challenge and things get going to make her pregnant. This was quite a witty story. Finally she has twins and marries the guy. Sorry forget the guys name but the jerk of a brother was Donny.

Hello I am looking for An American historical not really a western. The heroine is a "plain" school teacher for a small town. The he is a investigator with a gorgeous partner that everyone thinks solves all the cases but its really him he is seen as the slacker. He is caught in the her house overnight and they are forced into marriage. While looking into cattle murders for her bestfriends fathers ranch. they both fall down and old mine shaf(?) he is badly injured. Is sent to the hospital. He starts feeling sorry for himself and never wants to se her again. She moves close to the hospital and becomes an architect building him a house with rails that he can get around in. In the end they are seen to have a small son.

I'm looking for a book that I believe is Historical, but I'm not completely sure. The heroine is living with an abusive uncle and starts working for the lord/duke/earl as a maid at his castle. The hero's mother is jealous/bitchy and plants a stolen piece of jewelry on her claiming she stole it. If I'm not mistaken, at one point the heroine buries something she was reading because her uncle would take it away from her if he saw it.

I am hoping you can help me track down a historical romance book. The female character starts out at a convent which her brother placed her in for punishment in not following his orders. I think he wanted her to marry someone. She was then kidnapped by the main male character, enemy of her brother, where in the process she was cut by a knife in her leg by her guards.

She was brought to his home/castle where his deaf son lived. Despite being a captive, she was able to cure the child’s deafness.

She remained loyal to her brother throughout the book even though everyone tries to convince her otherwise. In the end, she comes face to face with her brother’s true nature and realizes he is as they described. I think the brother had six fingers on one hand... yes, similar to Princess Bride. lol

I really hope someone can help me with this, since I can't seem to get it out of my head and I'm driving myself crazy. I read a book in probably early to mid 90's, contemporary romance. The heroine is a secretary for a law firm, barely making ends meet, raising 2 younger brothers and taking care of a sick grandfather. The hero is a lawyer, maybe state attorney, he's wealthy. Typical story line they go out, she gets pregnant, he finds out and tries to "do the right thing" she, of course, is too proud to take the help. Anyway, it all ends happily ever after but to save my life I can't remember the name of the book. Any of this sound familiar??

A couple of year's ago, I read a book thatwas, for the most part, set at the turn of the 20th century (I think...).
Somehow, a modern day girl ended up switching bodies with a girl from the era (the modern girl being nicely adventurous and the historical girl a complete witch).

Regardless, the once-modern-now-stuck-in-the-past-heroine falls in love with two brothers, who were the results of a similar attachment between their mutual mother and different fathers.

I loved the time-travel/historical dichotomy with such a modern relationship agreement. If any of you remember such a novel, I would greatly appreciate some direction!

There are these 2 historical romance novels that i cant remember the name of and its driving me crazy!! The 1st one is about the hero marrying a pickpocket off the streets of london just to get back at his father and then dumps her there. I think he was drunk or something and she tries to rob him and his friend and he catches her and forces her to marry her. Shes actually suppose to be an aristrocat who got kidnapped when she was young. I remember then the heros father teaching her how to be a lady and then launching her into society and shes all beautiful and witty and successful. The hero falls for her without realising shes his wife and i remember how she kept visiting the streets to feed some orphans or something and the hero meets her there again asking for a divorce or something along the lines :S
The 2nd book is about this girl who runs her own estate and shes yound an spirited and loves her home more than anything. the hero is a captain i guess and he somehow inherits the house and the heroine is suppose to be his ward. I remember in the book she travels to his house disguised as a boy and tried to kill him with a knife so that she can have her estate back. I think her name was "kit" in the book. When the hero realises shes his ward he sends her off to school for young ladies. When she gets back shes all beutiful n stuff and i think they fall in love but the hero has his doubts that she loves the estate more than him :S

Anyway if someone can please tell me the names of these books i would be eternally grateful !!

Trying to find a book I read a WHILE ago. Sorry it's kind of fuzzy.

-Historical fiction, pretty long novel
-Uncle tries to rape a girl to impregnant/marry her to gain her inheiritance, she escapes and sleeps with a lord/knight instead.
-She becomes pregnant by him, and he marries her out of duty, but he doesn't believe the child is his, so he treats her coldly.

I have been trying to remember the name of this book for a little while. I read it a few years ago. It is a historical romance set in England and this girl is forced to marry a man from close to or in Scotland I think. I know that on their way to his home after they are married they have to stop at this fort where she is almost raped. She hates it where he lives but somehow learns to love him. I can't remember why but she ends up leaving and going back to her parents house towards the end of the book. She finds out after she gets there that shes pregnant. The man shows back up to get her right as she goes into labor in the garden. That is all I remember and I hope someone can help me figure out what this book is. I know I have the book somewhere but in moving three times in two years it is missing and I can't have my husband help me look if we don't know what to look for. Thanks so much.

I'm looking for a book I read a long time ago about an ex- husband and wife who somehow both end up with the job of redecorating an old house/mansion. There's a storm or something, and both end up having to stay in the house for the duration of the project. Of course, they fall back in love during their time in the house. I think there was also something about their unborn babies casting a spell to make them fall in love - it might have been part of a matchmaking babies series. Sounds weird, but it was a really good book! If anyone knows the title or the name of the series, please let me know :)

Hi! I'm looking for a book I read years ago. It's a western historical romance. All I remember about the plot was that she's a red head that is indentured to a horrible individual. She manages to get away, and while trying to do something or get to somewhere she sees a group of Native American women being attacked by white settlers/ miners? she attacks the men to help the other women. Afterward a group of men from their tribe show up and she falls for one of them. I forget exactly what he is in the tribe, but I think he may have been some sort of medicine man or other well respected man in the tribe.

I believe it was set in Victorian times and involved a young woman that stows away on a ship, but she is dressed as a boy so she is the servant to the male character. I think when they arrive at the mainland, she does something with the theater or is a singer. Anyway, as the story progresses, she ends up pregnant wich is unknown to her love interest, and she saves a small child from a burning pile of leaves which then causes her to have a miscarriage. Anyway i believe it's a historical romance set in old England sometime. And it's about a young lady who is poor and lives with her father on a rich man's property. She used to play with the masters son whe they were children but they grew apart and she sees him again now that they are older and they don't get along. She gets in some trouble money wise I think and he offers to help. She makes a deal with him that once a week or something he gets to do whatever he wants with her for an increasing amount of time. Hi everyone! I'm just going to jump right in...I read this book AGES and AGES ago but for the life of me, I can't remember the name of it and it's driving me bonkers. It's a contemporary romance...the hero and heroine grew up together with the matriarch of the family. A tragedy happens, the hero's wife/girlfriend is murdered (stabbed) and the heroine, a teenager at the time, finds her and ends up with blood all over her hands. She then is questioned at the police station and the hero, who she had strong feelings for, basically abandons her and leaves town. I remember the funeral scene where the heroine, no longer a suspect, tries to hold the hero's hand but he wouldn't let her. Fast forward, the girl is grown up now, she stayed at the mansion where she was raised, taking care of the family business when the hero returns. The matriarch is now old and needs to decide who she wants to leave the bulk of her inheritance to - the hero (grandson) or heroine (adopted or family friend's daughter who has been with her all this time or something like that). I remember something about the heroine still being haunted by the night she discovered the murder scene, she has nightmares and screams in her sleep. I think she also sleepwalks. In the end the matriarch gives everything to the grandson. Can anyone help me figure this out? I know my description isn't very good but hopefully it will trigger someone's memory.

I realize that it has been a long time since you posted this, but I think the book you are looking for is Shanna by Kathleen Woodiwiss.

I sure hope that someone can help me with this one - it's been tickling the back of my mind for years!! This is a really old one, probably from 1985 or so. Two young brothers are on a ship, sailing from France to America, with their parents and sister. In a storm, the younger brother is swept overboard and rescued by a couple who own a Southern plantation but could have no children of their own. The rest of the family is rescued together and end up settling in the North. Flash forward several years to the advent of the Civil War. The older brother (Alex?) serves in the Union Army, I think on McClellan's staff, and falls in love with a spy/secret agent. The younger brother (starts with a C, but I can't remember it) fights for the Confederate Army and *finally* falls in love with the girl from the neighboring plantation, she who has loved him secretly ever since he was rescued. Somehow the two women (Southern belle and Northern secret agent) meet and figure out that they are in love with the brothers separated so long ago. There was something hinky about the woman who rescued the younger boy and was scared that he would abandon her now that he found his real family, but I can't remember the details. In any event, everyone lives happily ever after. I remember the book so fondly, but I have not a clue as to the title or the author.

It's been awhile since I read it but I remember it was about a lost princess or aristocrat who was in danger and her maid ran away with her, the maid ended up dying and the girl was raised and worked at an inn, she had some kind of scar on her wrist that resembled a birthmark or something that only her family had or it was branded on her, I can't remember! It's so frustrating! I can't remember names, I think the male character may be scarred and the castle or palace or whatever has "raven" in it, maybe. I am looking for a romance book that has the heroine as a blond model who was adopted and has a spoilt sister (the natural child of the parents) that talks her into using a condom filled with sperm to get pregnant from her sisters boyfriend as a surragate. I have another one set in medieval times and the hero is hated by his father because when he was born it killed his mother during childbirth. The father names his son Cane. The son is forced into a marriage with a blond girl who was destined for the church. When her brother is killed she has to give up the church and marry for her father to have heirs. I may be mixing two books together but hopefully not.

I just joined and am thrilled to have found this site. I have been searching for months/years to find this romance novel. I know I read it sometime in the past 2-3 years, but I don't know when it was published. I have the story stuck in my head, but for the life of me I cannot remember the title or the main characters names. This novel was set in the American West, most likely during the 19th century but I am not sure when exactly.

The book starts off with an Eastern lady traveling out to her uncle's ranch in the west (I think it was Texas)? She was an eastern lady who came out to the ranch by train (I think she was looking for a husband?). She has a conflicted relationship with the ranch foreman (or maybe he was just a ranch hand). He seems to not like her some of the time because of her wealthy/privileged upbringing and her lack of practical domestic skills. She eventually becomes pregnant by him. Even though the foreman/ranch hand had never wanted to be married (I don't think he did, anyway), he is forced to marry her because of the baby, but he resents her and her pampered lifestyle.

They visit her family in the East, but her relative (maybe a mother or an aunt?) slaps her in the face when she tells them she is pregnant because they dont approve of her marring someone lower class/with this guy's position on society. The ranch hand/foreman protects her and brings her back out west to live with him. She doesn't know how to cook, or clean the house, or iron his clothes without ruining them and he mocks her for it. He refuses to allow her to have servants or any household help as she struggles with her new responsibilities. Eventually she works herself into the ground trying to please him and she miscarries the baby that forced them to be married in the first place.

As they try to heal the breach in their relationship, she discoverers that the "ranch hand/foreman" is actually a member of the oil baron family that controls most of the oil in the entire state (or something like that). He has been working on drilling a well where no one thinks oil/water can be found (I forget exactly what they were drilling for). There is some sort of slimy bad character who wants to cheat them out of the profits and success of all their hard work, but they defend themselves against him.. Eventually they realize they are in love and the well is a success.

I would appreciate any help or advice anyone can give me! It was a really powerful story. Thanks!

The get married at the grandfathers deathbed and the highwayman gets the reward for finding the gold. The cousin and other guy don't survive. They have to save the reputation of the family by killing both the creepy cousin and his creepy friend!

After reading through many of your posts I was reminded of authors I had forgotten about. I found my book. It's Rapture by Rosamund Royal a pen name for Valerie Sherwood. Wild Rose was the name given to the main female character. This was one of the first romance novels I'd ever read and I remember loving the story. Came across another I had forgotten but enjoyed immensely: Amanda Rose by Karen Robards. Classics!

It is the story an historic romance in the American West I think, she needs to marry and have a son to inherit her father's ranch (well he died and that is stipulated in his will), so she marry a man that she freed from jail (not sure about that), she was pregnant but miscarried because of a rival who poisoned her... In the end she managed to keep the ranch as the will said she had to be expecting a boy, not to have a living child. anyway, if anyone knows the title I would be eternally grateful!

For the longest time I have wanted to find the first romance novel I ever read - sometime in the mid 90s - but I don't remember many details.

I remember that the heroine came from an island and had been abused. She was rescued at sea by the hero's brother. She can't remember much of her past. Somehow she is related to a wealthy family (I think her grandfather is still alive) and her dark past keeps resurfacing (especially some very creepy guy). At one point, the hero thinks she has betrayed him to her family and becomes ruthlessly cruel. The hero becomes a successful owner of a ship construction company (maybe even with her wealthy family). I still remember the last scene - where she goes to visit him at the docks and their son runs to him.

If anyone has any idea, I would be so happy and so grateful!!

New to group. Looking for author of several romance books with a background theme of several women living together outside of the city in possible regency era England. They all must provide some form of income and they aren't allowed to pry into each others background. They have a green house where plants/flowers are grown to be sold to the wealthy for weddings, parties, etc.
Each woman has their own book where the reader finds out about how she came to live with the other women, her background and of course finds love.
I remember one of the women is discovered by her husband who she ran away from right after her marriage when he comes to the home visiting with his friend who is married to one of the other women. They are both shocked to see the other one and he makes a strong demand for her to pack her things and be ready to go. Of course her friend is afraid he might punish her and wants her husband to stop the forced departure.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?

PLEASE HELP! I am looking for a book I read in mid 1990's. It was a regency or historical. It had a heroine and her cousin were kidnapped by her fiancée's enemy. He was going to humiliate him by selling her, but falls in love and marries her secretively. Key points: she was supposed to sleep on the floor but didn't because she has nightmares. He didn't soak English and she didn't speak his language so they used French to communicate. He refused to beat her so he used sex as a threat to train her to be a slave. He called her Le fleur. I'm looking for a historical romance, this book is in a series of books I read maybe 7 or 8 years ago. What I remember is... The lead male character is named Clayton he ends up marring this girl because they were caught doing something at night alone, I think what there were doing was completely innocent, I think the may have gotten married to save her from having to marry someone else, it took awhile for them to warm up to each other. Also the lead male has a duel with sole lord or duke or something and i think he ends up getting shot, but the other guys dies? I'd love help remembering the name of a book I read when I was maybe in late teens, so around mid to late 70s. It was set in Australia, and was about a rancher who starts a ranch, brings an English bride to Australia, they make a life and have a family, but she never really loves it. They hire a housekeeper and she and the rancher fall in love and have a long time love affair and I think even a child together. He dies in her arms at the end (I think there's a fire involved, but that might be me confusing it with the Thorn Birds.) I think the book might be the name of the ranch, but not sure. Is that obscure enough for you?

Trying to locate a historical time travel romance book from at least ten years ago and possibly longer. Modern day at the beginning - two couples travel from (New England) but I think Maine to England and the men buy an unusual box in an antique store. The store owner woman tells them if they are able to reveal the secret in the box they will discover something which has been long sought. There is a powder hidden the box which when inhaled enables them to travel back in time. They end up burying important deeds/documents in the past in Colonial America (early 1700s) they will need in the present. One man's wife is named Penny/Penelope. I do not remember how it is resolved in the present after they return but I think they switch who they are married since they have affairs with the other spouse in the past.

Also, cannot remember author/ titles or find in my library system nor on Amazon 'though I read them, - series of four books about a baby girl left on the doorstep of a men's club with a note to her possible father. I think the first was written about four-five years ago with the last one in 2010. The four young men who live there have to determine if he is the father of the girl and what happened to the woman he may have impregnated. The books are all tied together but each individual book involves each man's search as he rediscovers his lost love and what has happened to them. They try to keep the baby girl hidden from the other residents but are not able to. Of course, the girl is so wonderful that her being there transforms the crotchety old men who live/work at the club into likable people. Since there are four books, the reader learns in the final book who the father is.

Wonderful. Thank you very much mamalaz. Looks like there are only three titles in this series. Shows you what happens to your memory. I am a librarian so I know what it is like to solve book puzzles when the customer does not have all the details straight (like a three year old child and not a baby)

Hope someone is able to come up with the first book at some point. When I retired, my reading list document containing all the titles, authors and synopsis for each book I had read for the past two years did not save correctly onto my flash drive. Of course, I did not find that out until after my work computer had been reconfigured. Since I read a book about every three days, that was a lot of carefully saved information and details lost.

I am trying to remember the title of a book that I read 15 or 20 years ago. It is about a young English woman who runs away or wanders off on the day of her arranged marriage. She is kidnapped from the docks by a pirate/privateer and taken to his plantation near New Orleans against her will. He has assumed that she is a woman of the streets and doesn't believe her when she tells him her story. The plot has several twists and turns. The heroine befriends a young servant or slave who has been in love with the hero's friend for many years. There is also the woman scorned who plays a role in the plot. I remember that the heroine gets pregnant and eventually kills the villain with a sword when the hero is lured away. She is also reunited with her family when the hero arranges for them to come to Louisiana.

Any help in identifying this book is greatly appreciated.

I remembered another part of the story. If I am not mistaken, the heroine meets her friend who has been in love with the hero's friend since she was basically a child by the way) when the heroine tries to run away and is almost sold into slavery or prostitution with her new friend. Thoughts?

I have a Name this Book question. Zebra Historical, I believe, 1992-1995. The book started with a sad note. A son, I think, died very young. The heroine is very distraught, she lost a lot of weight and marriage failed. Time passed, she snapped out of her depression and tries to win back her stray husband. I am hoping I could get help with this... my friend is going through something similar and thought to give her hope and a happy ending in a story. Here's another name this book. Published in the 90's. It's about two families united in marriage. The main character is accused of murdering his brother and sister-in-law (very sure the sister-in-law's name is Debra). He also develops a relationship with the daughter of a former maid or butler (I think).

The heroine is sent off to be a type of "lady in waiting" in the French court in the beginning of the novel and I'm pretty sure it's set in the seventeenth or eighteenth century. I seem to remember her name being Athena but I could be wrong - it may be something similar. She's blond and angelic looking and very delicate in physique

She gets attacked on the streets and loses her memory and is saved by a man who takes her in as his daughter because she is strikingly similar to his own dead daughter. He raises her as his own and she eventually becomes the King's "mistress" but their relationship is never actually consummated. He eventually marries her off to someone and they fall in love but the man can't have sex with her as he is told that pregnancy may kill her.

Much of the novel is about their frustration and misunderstandings - i.e. he thinks she doesn't love him, she thinks the same because he refuses to have sex with her. I remember she gets reunited with her family after nearly being seduced by her own brother (unknowingly of course - they do not know they are related). I also remember it ends on a happy note, but don't remember exactly what happened.

I've had trouble finding an old harlequin that I read in the late 90's early 2000's. It was about a ward, I think her name was Alexandria, she was living with her sister and her sister's husband, but the sister was pregnant and couldn't handle taking care of her rebellious sister so they sent her to live with the husband's brother who was some sort of travel journalist and ended up being kidnapped while covering a story abroad? If anyone has any ideas that would be very helpful I've been trying to think of the name for a couple of years now!!!

I just remembered at the beginning of the book Alexandria is dating some pretty boy named troy, they end up breaking up in the middle of the book.

Hello all! I was telling a friend about a book I read in the 80s and now I'm going crazy trying to find it. I so hope one of you recognizes this story.

The heroine Gabrielle saves a traveling captain who was shot at and falls off his horse. She takes him (unconcious) to her home where her uncle forbids her to see him because he doesn't want the man interfering with his plans to sell off Gabrielle in marriage. But Gabrielle starts sneaking into the man's room at night and becomes his phantom angel. When he leaves she dresses up as a boy (Gabe), meets up with him on the road and claims to be the one who saved him. As Gabe, she becomes his constant companion, verbally torments him incessantly, and continues to save him from more assassination attempts. But in the dark of night, she comes to him as his phantom lover. Because of this, he thinks he's going insane until Gabe has an accident on a ship, gets knocked unconscious and he discovers the truth.

Hello! I'm in search of a book that i read in the 80's or early 90's. It was a contemporary romance, possibly a Harlequin Presents or Silhouette Desire. unfortunately I don't remember the plot or title. I only remember a pivotal scene in which the hero & heroine are sleeping in separate rooms with an adjoining wall. He is awakened in the night by the sound of her moaning/crying out because of a very vivid and erotic dream, which she later confesses is about him.

The book starts when the heroine is about to be executed because she stoled something, I can't remember what, the hero is passing and he is a spy and also an earl I think, he needs a wife, so he marries her and that way he saves her. They fell in love, she is a heiress escaping her uncle and cousin, she gets pregnant by the hero. The hero has a brother and later in the book I found out he has an step brother. She goes back to her uncles house to marry her cousin but the heroes goes work in the house pretending to be a simple worker.

She was forced to stay with the man who won the house, at one point he told her she could take a bag of money or stay with him and she decided to stay with him. Hi All - I am so glad I found this site as this has been bugging me for ages and I cannot get them out of my head - So i am looking for 2 romance books I read ages ago - more than 10 years and could be Harlequin or Mira or the like.

1 - its about a young smart shy girl in last year of high school has sex with a hot guy from class and gets pregnant. Her male best friend (who has loved her for ages) finds out and pretends its his and they get married. Years later they have had a couple more kids and it is school reunion and the real father shows up and somehow finds out that the daughter is his. Can't remember any names just the plot.

2 - again a young girl (pattern here), he is older and is about to break up as he is going away for a year or so but she gets pregnant, they get married and have twins I think, (this is in the back story). Present day and her best friend tells her he has slept with someone else and she gets upset, (friend is jealous and wants the man). By this time he is quite successful but keeps her in background as he wants to keep her innocent. Wife starts spreading her wings, takes art classes, gets makeover blah blah - he thinks he is losing her. Ends up with her being pregnant again and they finally have happy ever after.

I know it is not much but it is driving me crazy so any help appreciated.

Hello Everyone! I have been searching for a couple of books that I have read awhile ago, back in 2005 i believe.

Book 1: About a woman that goes on a trip to another country I believe it was England. This woman pretty much meets a guy who is royalty and they basically fall in love. In the end, for some reason, she leaves back to America, her apartment and seems to be down with the flu. Goes through multiple boxes of tissues, but later finds out that she is actually pregnant. The guy ends up showing up at her front door and claims his love for her and when she tells him that she's pregnant, he is shocked. He believed that she was pregnant from some other guy, because he was told that he was unable to produce children. She clarified that the baby was his and they lived happily ever after.

Book 2: Don't remember too much about this book but I believe this one was a harlequin intrigue book. It was about a woman that hired a private investigator. They shared a room at one point and she was a virgin and they ended up making love.

Well the story takes place in New Orlean(i think). A virgin 31 year old woman works in a shabby bar as a waitress. the owner she looks up to as her father, he falls ill and on his death bed ask her to marry him. He did not tell the girl that he fled New Orleans due to being suspected for murder of his wife. His wife was native american and she was found in a water well dead from beiing pushed inside. Plus the fortune that he had has decreased and has turned into debt. So his wife (the young lady) now is being hounded by the owners of his debt. One of the the people forces her to become a slave and their home due to the debts owed by her husband. Her son eventually pays the debt and makes her his slave because he is angry at his father. he also hates the girl because he believes she only married his father for money. The have a scene where he realizes she is a virgin and he becomes irate because that means her marriage to his father wasnt consumated. Eventually he falls for her and gets her pregnant and realizes that his father did not kill his mother. His mother was killed by a woman that was in love with the father and i think had a child with him at some point. the lady also had a statue in her garden of a little girl, it was her daughter that had died. anyways, she tried to kill the girl and she is saved my the guy.

I hope someone can help me with this one. I hope i have given enough information. thanks in advance....

All I can remember of the the book is that its about this young girl who meets a wealthy business man on a plane and she starts crying(I think) and tells him that her uncle wants her to marry his son. The wealthy man(millionaire? ) impulsively decides to pretend to be her fiancée and help her. He later finds out that the girl owns a ranch left to her by her parents and the uncle has discovered oil on the ranch and wants the money from that oil find. Hi everyone! I've posted on a couple of other sites to no avail, so I'll try my luck here. This is what I remember:

I remember this book being one that's quite recent, as in published within the last couple of years.

The heroine in the novel poses as her brother and goes off to fight a duel with the hero (a lord). She is shot and ends up being taken to the hero's home to recover, where he discovers that she's a girl. The heroine has red hair; her father is ailing, I think; and I believe the brother challenged the hero to a duel because he (the brother) was drunk and took offense at some slight insult. The hero, as I recall, is a cynical, jaded type of character.

I read a great book a maybe 10 years ago. It was a contemporary romance. The heroine was a twin who was pregnant and had amnesia. She had broken up with her boyfriend months ago after he moved away. Later she had also moved to New York, but had no contact with him or her twin back in California. After an accident she got amnesia and she was on the news where her ex-boyfriend saw her and he then went and got her, told her who she was, let her stay with him. She was pregnant and they didn't know whether on not he was the father because the doctor couldn't tell how far along she was. Does anyone know what this book is?

Hello, I'm looking for a historical regency romance that I read recently but can't remember the name of.

Honestly, the only bit of information I remember is that the hero's family has ALWAYS married money. I think the hero is a duke (or an earl), and his family came from a baronetcy or earldom in the medieval times. The first duke (or what he was then) married an heiress, and afterwards succeeding heirs built upon the family's fortunes. But this guy fell in love with someone who was not an heiress, but that wasn't a huge point in the story.

By that I mean the hero wasn't upset he didn't marry an heiress, and I'm not sure if his family is still alive. It was just mentioned in the story but not a huge deal.

I read a book several years ago that my Mother-in-Law let me borrow. She warned me from the begining that some parts of it got really steamy and they did in fact get there. In the begining of the book the main woman either own's some type of laundry store or washes and irons clothes for a living. A man shows up and tells her to marry him and she refuses. He threatens her and she runs to another man, I THINK he runs a lumber mill or hardware store or something in town. She actually gets hired for sex in ordered to be protected. She goes to live with the man in his house and he teaches her all sorts of new things about intercourse. Sometime in the book she ends up being kidnapped and taken to some sort of cave or mines and he has to go after her becaues he realizes he loves her....I wanna say a Rose is involved some how too!

Hey guys. I read this book a few years ago and can't for the life of me remember much about it, or the name and/or author. I know that it's about a guy that is in a wheel chair, and in the end he ends up standing up and walking out of it, and out of a burning building while his enemy is inside. Hey, Im so glad I found this site! There is a book I read about 5-6 years ago... I remember the plot, but not the name of the characters, title or author!

In the book the man is a womanizer & has a main mistress... He marries for convenience & consumates the marriage really rough, where as the servant is shocked because he is well known for "great love-making"... early the next morning she gets up & as shes walking around she finds her new husband making love to his mistress... Then she packs her bags & decides to go to one of his other houses in the country, where when she arrives she finds out he has a young daughter ( dont remember the age but im guessing around 12 years old?) and she restores the mansion & the servants love her & she creates a special bond with the little girl.

He later decides to go see how miserable his "wife" is & discovers how happy she is without him & he falls in love with her & changes... But around the last chapters his wife is pregnant, & they are at a party & his ex-mistress sets a trap for him & his wife leaves him.... she goes to like a secret place of hers & he is going crazy bc hes in love with her.. & he finds her & asks for forgiveness just in time for her to give birth!

Hi everyone! I am looking for a book I read probably 15 years ago. It is a Historic Christmas romance about a women who inherits a house from her daughters estranged father after he dies. The daughters name is Beth I think and she also has a few adopted children. When they move out to he house it turns out he guys partner owns half the house and it is a brothel. She ends up moving in anyway and basically draws a line down the middle of the house.

Does this ring a bell to anyone? I think of this book every Christmas an can never remember the name or author!

Hi, I am new here - love this site. Trying to find a book I had in the 80s. The cover page was torn off, so I have no idea as to the title but here goes: a woman was heading down south to visit her sister. She gets in a car accident and wakes up in the 1800s. A man helps her, but does not believe she is from future. He is getting ready to go to the south for what becomes the civil war. She debates telling him the outcome and what happens to Lincoln. She finally shows him her wristwatch from the 1976 Bicentennial. He believes her, does not go to war. They marry, have children, live happily ever after. However, the last few pages of book are in present time. Her sister in the south is looking thru old family treasures while mourning the loss of her sister who DIED in a car accident. She comes across an old 1800s photo of her sister and her family, along with a letter written to her by her sister in the 1800s.

Hi everyone I am new here. I am looking for a romance book that I read recently.

It's about a married heroin who is unhappy in her marriage. She married for the sake of her brother (I believe) and her husband is not a good person.

She meets the hero who is a rake. They want to have an affair but cannot because of her husband.

The hero gets one of his lovers to pay attention to the husband to have time to seduce the heroin.

The hero and heroine manage to have an affair.

However, at one point the hero and heroine separate still in love with each other. She gets pregnant and I think she wants to sail to America and the hero agrees to take her in his boat. Her husband however eventually gets to them, but the hero outranks the husband.

Ultimately the hero and heroine end up together.

I just have no idea what the book or the author were. Any help would be appreciated.

I, too, am new here! I have a few books I am looking for:

1) A book about a wealthy Spanish (I think) landowner's daughter being kidnapped by the hero (whose brother was killed by heroine's father) and he is so angry he fails to realize how much he is hurting the girl as he drags her behind his horse and her feet get all messed up. He takes her to his home (like a village) and she heals and some time goes by, I think. Here, my memory is really bad and I don't recall a lot of the middle plot (something happens with illness/attack on a neighboring village, I think). But in the end, the heroine ends up back home with her dad, but in love with the hero. In one scene, the hero sneaks into her room in the middle of the night before some major plot against her father, who is not a good guy. I don't remember the end, but all is well, of course. I don't remember the cover (red, perhaps?) and I read it at least 5-8 years ago, so no idea on pub date.

2) This one is even more faint in my memory (sorry!). There was a story about a single dad and his neighbor named Molly. Something happens to Molly and she is super sore, so she falls asleep in her warm bath and can't move because she is so stiff in the cold water. The hero comes into her house and rescues her. That is really all I remember...it might have been Harlequin but possibly by a somewhat well-known author.

3) The last one I remember very clearly. It is a western romance where a young, plump beautiful girl needs to cross the US to her brother to escape marrying the man her father has picked out for her. She hires a half white, half Indian drunk to take her across (after rescuing him from bleeding to death, I think). By the end of the book, she has turned from a spoiled brat into to a mature young woman. At some point, they live with the Lakota where the hero goes through the steps to become a warrior and stop drinking. They fall in love and are married (at least, to the Lakota). Then, tragedy strikes and the Lakota are attacked and most everyone is killed, but the girl (Caroline?) and the hero escape (she has to kill a man, I think). He takes her to her brother, finds out her father is there, and leaves. As she realizes she is pregnant, she also realizes she will have to marry the man her father picked for her in order for the baby to have a name. At the last minute, the hero storms into the church and marries her (legally, this time) and they go off together. He is shot (?) and she has to help him. When they get to a town, she accepts help from her husband's estranged grandfather. The hero is reluctant to stay at his family's farm (his grandparents kicked his mother out when he found out she was pregnant, but the hero later learns the grandmother had searched for her, I think). Eventually, he finds his father (who had been an Indian horse trainer) and the girl has her baby in a dramatic fashion. They all live happily ever after (Unless the grandfather dies...I can't remember). At some point, someone is kidnapped again, I think.

It's been great fun looking through the posts here and I'm so sad I can't think of anyone's books. Any help on mine would be wonderful--Thanks!! Betsy

I'm new here and was wondering if some one could tell me the title of these books?
I read them a few years ago and I really enjoyed them, but I can't remember the titles or authors.

1) Basically goes like this : This guy pretending to be this wealthy ranch or farm owner gets this woman pregnant, and afterward takes off. The woman goes looking for the guy ( I think to tell him she's pregnant) and ends up finding the real "(Insert Name Here)". The real guy feels sorry for her, lets her stay at his ranch so they can both find the impostor, and over time end up falling for each other. Only problem is that she's pregnant with some other guy's baby, so they're both trying to deny their feelings. In the end they find the guy, but he actually turns out to be a hot mess and already married or in a relationship to some other girl. The woman and cowboy then go off and have their happily ever after :)
I guess something that would be distinctive is at the beginning of the book when the woman comes to the real guy's ranch/farm, she crashes into a tree or something and passes out so everyone on the ranch thinks she's crazy at first. I think the genre would be romance.

2) This mother and daughter move to this Texas town because her mother is an activist writer and thinks that this company there is participating in illegal dumping. While there, the daughter falls for and starts dating the popular guy. There's also a carnival in town where one night a girl is murdered and the daughter starts investigating. Sooner or later, the townspeople start hating and harassing the mother and daughter because the company the mother is investigating supplies the town with most of the jobs there. If the plant closes, almost the whole town will be jobless. One day, the mother goes away for whatever reason and the girl is left all by herself. Due to her wariness of the town and the situation she's in, she decides to stay up or can't sleep. Well a few houses down from them is an old man that has these 3 dogs/rottweilers that bark at anything that moves. She hears them start to bark and is put even more on the edge when she hears them stop. A person breaks in and tries to kill her, but something happens. (I don't if someone stopped by) but it turns out to be her boyfriend, the popular dude, and I can't really remember anything else.

This seems to be a good source for naming a missing book. Here's a possible tough one. I'm pretty sure it was part of a compilation. What I remember is the female lead married her spanish lover in a hospital right before he goes unconscious, then he loses his memory of her. They go back to Spain (i think) and his mother is openly hostile to the wife. There's a brother that makes the estranged husband jealous, there's a parade through the streets that finally sparks the husband's memory again. Any clue? I fear it accidentally made it's way into a give away pile, but I can't stop thinking about reading it again.

What was the name of the Johanna lindsey book where the girl runs away from home because her father wouldn't let her run their ranch because she was a girl. She dresses like a man and sets out to find work on a ranch to get experience.

I read this WWII romance in the 70's but it's probably older. It's possible I'm blending several similar plots. Hero and heroine are caught in the blitz in London, I think in the underground. One of them (can't remember which but I think it's the hero) is wounded by the blast and possibly can't remember or won't tell his/her identity. They go to the flat of the non-wounded one. They end up having a one night stand. Significant plot detail -- one of them (again, I think it's the hero) wears a thin chain with a gold charm, maybe a star, around neck, which the other sees when they make love. This is somehow important in establishing identity later.
He leaves, possibly she is pregnant, but doesn't know his name. Eventually after much tribulation they find each other.

It is not any of the following books with similar plot points: Random Harvest by James Hilton, Dark Legacy aka Happy Now I Go by Theresa Charles, The Wood and the Trees by Mary Elgin

Hi! I'm actually looking for two books, both contemporary, one more so that the other.
The older of the two is about a nanny-turned-wife. Her husband is socially way above her, and doesn't trust her. He only married her for the sake of his two kids. She still attends nightclasses so her hubbie gets worried when it seems likes she's seeing someone else and coming in late. They end up in bed together at some point, and something happens that really gets the husband mad, but he doesn't realize his mistake until his wife is hit by a car and miscarries.
The newer of the two is about a girl who gets a job as a secretary after the boss's mother meets her in a hair salon. The boss is involved in a divorce between two friends of his that is turning really ugly, so he takes the secretary's advice and drops the friends off on an island resort, while inviting himself and the secretary along with to monitor the process.
Any ideas? I'm pretty sure the last one is a harlequin, but I'm not sure about the first.

Hello. I am looking for a contemporary romance book I believe to be from the early to mid 1990s. The main characters name is Melanie Winters or Melanie Green, I can't quite remember. Her romance interest is named Cole. The plot is when she was 17 they were in a relationship, but he was 24 and did know how young she was. So he ended up breaking off their relationship. They meet up again about 8 years later, and realize they still have a connection. She never told him she ended up pregnant, and had a miscarrige. Any help would be usefull. I am searching for a book. I cannot remember the title or author. Here are the details from the book

It is set in the far north of Europe/Norway/Maybe even Russia, very cold/snowy. The heroine's family are known for their ability to train horses. At the beginning of the story, the heroine is riding back home through the snow at night and comes across a group of men. She realizes the danger and tries to flee on her horse. The leader chases her, catches her, takes her virginity, and leaves her lying in the snow. She faints during the attack and when she awakens she returns home and tells no one. She lives with constant night terrors that haunt her every night where she re-lives the man chasing her and raping her.

Several years later, she goes to visit her uncle who lives in the desert and as she arrives she runs into the man who raped her. He doesn't remember her, but she recognizes him immediately and instantly attacks him. The uncle intervenes and introduces her to the man not knowing what happened to her in the past. She keeps her secret, but doesn't hide how much she hates the man. The man cannot understand why she hates him so much when they just met.

The man ends up returning with her to her home in the north as some sort of representative of her uncle who hopes he will be able to learn the family's secret to training their horses. Along the way he begins to have feelings for her, but she continues to hate him.

Once at her home, the man stays and continues to try to get the girl to change her opinion of him while also hoping to learn the secrets to training horses. He later hears the heroine confessing to her grandfather what the man did to her years ago and about the nightmares she has each night about the incident.

If anyone can remember this book and author, I would be most grateful.

I have been looking for a book I read when I was an early teen - one of the first romance novels I ever read - and before I even looked at authors or titles (just judged by the cover). What I can remember is this: I think it took place in the late 1800s or early 1900s. Really not sure. The guy is/was a soldier and he was visiting a family. The heroine at the time was still young and kind of seduced him in the barn (don't think they had sex) - well I think they got caught and she freaked out and called it "rape." He ends up going to prison. When he gets out he comes looking for her for revenge.
Now - this is where the details get very foggy. What I think happened is that she had moved and became an actress and her hair was dyed red - but I could be mixing up my books. I remember a scene where they wrestled around in the bed and he had her pinned down with her arms on each side of her head. There is a possibility the heroine has a baby.....I have looked for the book so long. At every consignment store or goodwill I would look through the books for the cover. Which is a redheaded lady in a green gown up against a tree with a man of coarse.
Let's hope these crazy and random details can stir up a memory for someone.

I'm new to this group (and site) but have been looking for a book off and on for the last couple of years and I'm HOPING that someone may have an idea of the title. I'm sad to say that my memory is foggy at best on quite a bit of the story as it was one of the first romances I ever read, but I remember loving it and want to reread it. lol

Takes place in regency/historical England. A woman of means (she or her father may have had some sort of title) disguises herself as a governess so that her friend (former governess?) can go get married. I remember that she had a really hard time doing her hair in the mornings since she hadn't done it herself before. She falls in love with the widowed lord of the manor. I was convinced that it all took place around Christmas time but could be wrong on that, also seem to remember the book cover having yellow behind the title in red. Probably published in the 90s.

I have been going crazy trying to figure out the name/author of this book I read a while back too.

The heroine has long red hair and is in love with an older man. Her family is in shipping and rich (I think she's 18). She decides he will never see her as anything more than a little girl, so she disguises herself in a black wig and sings at a local (family friend's) bawdy house. The hero (I think his name is Caleb) is totally amazed such a beauty would pick him to sleep with that he goes upstairs, takes her virginity, and is horrified upon waking up to realize what he has done. The hero was in love with the heroine's mother and actually delivered the heroine on his boat, I believe, so it would seem pretty upsetting.

The story continues with them sailing together and going to a tropical paradise among other places.

The story starts off in America; I think it is either San Francisco or Boston. The time period includes the prevalence of shanghaiing.

Hi all I love this thread, wish I could help those who have asked out but I rarely remember the names of the love stories I read. :(

I am however searching for two particular books (which is what lead me here) if anyone knows them.

1) Saxon / Norman book in which a lady is ordered to marry an opposing man (I am not sure which was Saxon and which Norman) and on her journey she takes with her a lady in waiting / possibly distant female relative with no money/land. For reasons I do not remember the lady does not wish to marry the man and she and the other woman exchange places either prior to arrival at the place of marriage or just before the ceremony. There is bloodshed and the lord she was to marry (who is priest like ?) is wounded and can not get away and the imposter hides him in a cubicle under the alter in the church (I think?). I feel his name is Edmund ? Eventually he is strong enough to leave and I think he takes her with him. It is only later that he learns of the deception. I read this book prior to 1997 and it was in my small country towns library.

I have been looking for another copy of a book for years, I thought it was called The Raven and The Red Head, but I cannot find that anywhere. It was either a Silhouette, or Harlequin book from the nineties. The main character is a woman with red hair who gets stranded on a boat with a man named Raven. The redhead is an artist, and a virgin. I also remember that he quotes Alice in Wonder land and the red head takes it out of context and gets upset.
My grandmother gave me this book, and it got stolen in College so I wanted to find a new copy.

What an excellent topic! I read this book literally years ago and have had no luck finding it again. If anyone could help I'd massively appreciate it..

It was a historical romance (perhaps regency era). The hero was a Marquess I think but definitely a member of the aristocracy, as was the heroine. He had a very dark reputation and eventually hero/heroine get married. Towards the end the heroine's brother turns up and convinces her the hero is no good. He convinces her to leave with him.

When nobody hears from the heroine and with lots of circumstantial evidence people begin to think the hero has harmed her. He is arrested and there's a very public trial. It looks like he's going to hang.

Eventually, off in a corner of England where she's about to catch a boat somewhere with her brother, the heroine hears about the trial. She returns to London to set things straight and gives evidence in the trial that deliberately makes her seem spoiled/empty-headed/a bit of a nightmare and proves the hero completely innocent.

I think the brother ends up being a bit of a 'villain' for some reason. Can't remember the details. The heroine may even hit him or shoot him in her frenzy to get back to London and save her husband.

Of course, at the end they live happily ever after.

Please let me know if this rings any bells. Not knowing is completely driving me mad! Thank you.

Funnily enough, I had an inkling it might be Judith McNaught and read through all the synopses of her Historicals multiple times (including today before posting!) but none of them seemed familiar. Thanks to your response, I've had another look and read some more detailed reviews and realised Almost Heaven is absolutely the book I was looking for. Thank you again! Feels good to have the riddle solved.

No, this story doesn't have any rape scenes in it. I did read one of the Captive Series (I think the second one), but I really don't like the rape/gang rape featured in some of the books.

I think my heroine's name is Kate o_0 I could be wrong though. I seem to remember him calling her Katie or Kat.

I read a book a few years ago and I believe it was an older book then. I am positive it is a harlequin book of some kind. It is about a guy who has custody of an infant boy, possibly his child. The mother died in childbirth I believe. The guy, I think, is some type of reporter. He returns to his childhood home with the baby and his friend still lives next door and she is a single mom. She helps with the baby and her youngest is child is only a year or two old. Can anyone help?

The man who hired him decides he will take her little sister instead so when she finds out she goes the rescue only to be kidnapped by him. Years ago I checked a romance book out from the Chicago Public Library. It was one of my favorites and I can not for the life of me remember the name or author. I remember the opening scene is the heroine rescuing a man from a prison. She's a slave or abused servant in some Mediterranean city I think. Maybe Rome?

They sail on a boat to England I believe and there's a scene in a storm where he saves her from drowning when the inside of the ship floods.

The only other scene I remember is that she turns out to have been a jockey and she get's shot while riding a horse.

I'm kind of new to this but I have been trying to find a book forever would love some help. Its a time travel book from present day jumping back to the roaring 20's. It had to do with mobsters and I remember the main character was called Paris. It took place somewhere close to the ocean and it started off with a boat exploding. Hi, hoping someone out there can help me out. I don't remember the author name or character names, unfortunately, and I think that the setting is actually either futuristic to begin with (or set on another planet? but dont think so).

Story line: A women (a scientist) is visited by a man from the future who emplores her to use a future device (which allows time travel) to go back to the past and kill a man because his bloodline will eventually lead to the fall of the world and his descendent is too smart/tricky/whatever to get caught so they're only choice is to eliminate the ancestor. She's paired up with a man to protect her, who goes back with her in time. She has 'pyschic' powers, including mind reading, but he does not, even though this is common in their time/world... something about an experimental society of strong pyschics who had either super-psychic children or children with no powers (who wear ear cuffs to block other's powers). They end up sleeping together (duh) which links their minds, so he can use her powers. Just before they kill the 'ancestor' guy in question bodyguard guy has her test the ancestor's DNA and find that she is the guy's descendent so killing him would kill her. The original guy who time warped back to her is actually a bad guy, and was using her to get rid of her descendents as they were keeping him from taking over the world.

Not sure this is the right forum as it's not a 'historical or contemporary' but it would have been written by a fairly big author as I read it around 10-15 years ago, and had a fairly limited author range in romances at that time, so hoping someone else also read it.

Don't know if this is the one you're looking for, or if someone else has responded already, but though it doesn't match all of your beginning info I think you're talking about Rules of Attraction by Christina Dodd, book 3 in a series by her called Governess Brides. All of the stuff about her coming to work for him to take care of his aunts, coming into a new title, the baby, etc... I know I've read the book, and I'm pretty sure this is that book (though I've not reread it to check, but this flashed to mind as soon as I read your description). If this isn't it, I still know I've read the book and I'm convinced she's a governess/lady's companion.

I am wracking my brain trying to figure out the title and author of a historical romance.
The plot goes: a woman is forced by her father/parents to marry an old lord. She is in love with a young lord. The young lord gets her pregnant and the old man claims it. I recall the old man parading her around parties in jewels. By the end of the book, the old man dies and she goes back to the young lord though not willingly.
I remember two story lines: first, when the woman gives birth she insists on nursing her own baby but her overbearing mother doesn't want her to. They quarrel but the woman wins. Second, at the end, the young lord wants to claim the baby but the woman says no, she wants the boy to inherit the old man's title.

I'm looking for a historical romance set in England that I read about 5 years ago. I took it out from the library and cannot find it. Don't know the title, author, or the character names.

Plot: Young girl (16; curly blonde hair) lives in the countryside with her family. Her mother wants to make her and her sister actresses, the father is a weak character and does what his wife wants.
She is in the woods when she meets a nobleman (a duke, i think) and he is immediately taken with her.

The mother realizes that her daughters would do better to marry wealthy than become actresses and moves the family to London. They pose as a wealthy family at all of the ton events, and the girls become well known because of their beauty. Two lords (friends) make a bet to see which can bed one of the sisters first. This becomes an increasingly aggressive bet.

The heroine meets the hero (man from the woods again). Their attraction increases until they are in love with each other. However, he refuses to marry her because she is a commoner and he is a high nobleman. She refuses to be a mistress.

At a ball he convinces her to leave with him to his nearby house, and seduces her. Afterwards, she is disappointed that he still doesn't plan to marry her and she leaves upset. That night she is kidnapped from her bed and drugged (with some assistance from her mother) and is taken to a church to marry one of the friends who was desperate to win the bet.

The marriage is miserable. She is only a trophy to him, and when she is found to be pregnant (by the hero), her husband becomes angry with her. Her husband loves their son once he is born, and is none the wiser it is not his child. He later dies (when son is about 5).

At this point the heroine and hero meet again, and he recognizes the son as his. He pursues her to marry, as now that she is the widow of a nobleman, he can marry her. They resolve their issues and are FINALLY married.

If this sounds familiar to anyone, I would be so appreciative if you could let me know the title of author. I've been trying to find this book for some time now.

I read a book about a year ago it is about a couple who is married she is pregnant. The pregnancy gets in trouble she is in the hospital the husband thinks they lose the baby. The mom moves away because he has no time for her but writes letters to his office once a month telling him about their daughter. His jealous secretary throws the letters away but he finds one and then goes and finds his wife and daughter.

There is a book I read that I really want to purchase but I can't remember the name or Author.

Story line points that I remember:
Set in early 1900s New York...mid/high society
Beginning/middle of the book has someone the main character knows die on the Titanic sinking;
She has a friend who is married and is continually having babies;
She is courted by and marries a man and him, her and his friend spend several years spending time at the friends house in the Hamptons;
She goes years and the marriage is never consummated, but she doesn't tell anyone cause you just didn't speak of things like that;
As it happens, her husband is gay and his friend is his lover, and they are both dying of an STD
So the husband divorces her thinking he is doing her a favor, but in reality everyone looks down on her thinking that she must have cheated for him to divorce her so her reputation is ruined.

I THINK it is the same book that has her go over seas and work as a nurse for the army, during which time she gets raped, so she ends up opening some sort of business and raising her daughter in France or something...I think she eventually comes home.

I would REALLY appreciate it if you all could help me out with this.

I'm racking my brain, attempting to remember the name of a book I read almost four years ago. I remember it involved a Spanish woman living on her father's ranch and a cowboy came along whom she was annoyed with at first but eventually was swooned with. At one point she was abducted from her home and was rescued by the cowboy. I also recall that the cover of the book had a cowboy with his shirt off. Can anybody help? It was a great book

Hi Everyone, I am new to this group and hoping you can help. I have been trying to remember the title of this book for a long time so I am hoping you can help. The heroine ends up in Newgate when her husband dies leaving a bunch of debt. She pays it all off except for one lender. She has a baby in prison that dies and then all the women prisoners are released on Christmas. She re-enters society and is a highwayman at night stealing money from the last lender that sent her to prison. I know she gets shot on the night she meets the hero and eventually ends up getting hung at the end - the hero gives her some drug to make it seem like she is dead but she isn't and they go to America for their happily ever after... when I type a summary out like this it sounds crazy!

i need to find a book. i read it in the late 90s. i don't know the title and the author. as far as i can remember it's about a plain woman who have a sort of convenience marriage (or something like that) with a gruff man who owns a ranch or farm (i can't even tell whether he's a cowboy or not). she's happy with her life, until she find herself starts to fall in love with him. one thing i know for sure, she's not pregnant (so far any books i've found similar to the plot always involves a pregnant woman) and if i'm not mistaken there's no any sex scene.

I'm looking for a Zebra Historical Romance set in San Francisco... I read the book in the late 80's/early 90's. The heroine had a brother -twin?- who became addicted to Opium, so she staged a personal intervention and then 'detoxed' him by locking him in his room. I believe she sat outside the door with a gun. She and the man she loved were married after she became pregnant (if I remember correctly)... I think one of her "talents" was shooting a gun while riding a horse (at a breakneck speed, of course). The brother was in a relationship with a girl from China Town, and I think(!) they married, also. Does anyone know the name of this book?? Thanks!!

Guess I just wasn't used to your conventions.

I'm looking for a contemporary romantic suspense (?) book i read sometime in 2005, i don't remember much of the storyline only that the hero kills the man responsible for the death of his father (drunken hit-and-run accident), the heroine is the man's daughter, but this fact isn't revealed until the very end, there's a scene where the hero enters her home at night and finds her in bed with her lover/boyfriend(?). She sleeps with hero in order to get close to him and kill him. I remember the ending scen more clearly, heroine comes to his(?) boat with a gun, hero is willing to die at her hand, hero ends up in the water (think at gunpoint, not sure), book ends with the heroine throwing away the gun and joing him in the water. I believe the whole i-only-killed-your-father-because he-killed my-dad-but-i-get-why-you-want-to shoot-me thing was only a secondary plotline, any suggestions will be greatly appreaciated, TIA.

P.S: The book cover might feature a waterbody+boat...or not

I am looking for a book i read a couple of years ago its about this woman who is raising her sisters kids because her parents are in not such good health and they come to watch the kids to give her a break so she goes on this steamboat ride and meets a guy, i think he is a fireman, cant remember,anyways they fall for each other and start dating and everything is going good but then he finds out she had a heart transplant and he gets upset because his sister had died in a car accident and she wanted her organs donated and her parents went through with what she wanted while he was against it. And then they end up finding out that she got his sisters heart. They end up overcoming it and being together in the end. I dont remember the author or the title. Hope you can help.

Am looking for 2 books...

1) I cannot remember much about the book accept that the H & h marry when she is quite young (possibly below 18yo but I'm not 100% sure). H leaves and then comes back years later. H might be a spy or working for the Crown...? Later on someone tells h that there are/were rumors running rampant about why H had left her and never introduced her to society, instead he keeps/kept her "hidden" away in the country; some rumors were about her being severely deformed, etc. The person who tells her this is another "child bride" and not vindictive but somewhat naive. Anyway, h confronts H about it and he claims not to have known about the rumors. I cannot remember why but I think he may have been out of the country all those years...? I think he also had shown up again to claim h months after he had claimed he was originally going to... Right after the confrontation, h is attacked by a man out for revenge against H; the man attempts to rape her but H steps in in time to stop him.

FOUND! x 2) H & h are married; h's dad forced the marriage and lied to h about H's willingness to marry her. Her father even forged letters between them. H is cruel, not knowing she was also a "victim" to her father's lies. H has a mistress but is very jealous of h's friendship with her male cousin. The cousin betrays h and blackmails H. I'm not sure about this but I think h gets shot after jumping into a duel between H and her cousin...? And there was also something about a doll that H has that h remembers from a childhood encounter with H...? x FOUND!

I can't remember exactly what she is helping H with but one night they sleep together and in the morning h overhears H telling his sister that, basically, there is no way he would ever consider anything serious with h. That day, there is some sort of party or gathering at H's house; h is forced to attend but doesn't confront him on it though, by the way she acts towards him and the comments she makes, he knows she overheard him. No matter how hard I try, I cannot remember the rest... hopefully someone can help though, and also with the 2 I posted above...? :)

I was vainly searching google when I came across this thread and hoped that you could help me. I have been searching (and racking my brain - going crazy) trying to find the name or author of a book I read a few years ago. This is what I remember:

a woman was at a wedding where she learned her friend the bride was going to be kidnapped. She put on the wedding dress )which wouldn't do up because the girl was on the larger side) and was kidnapped in her place. She was then dumped at a mountain cabin of the man they were trying to frame for the kidnapping - I think he was the enemy of the groom's family and a bit of a a giant. She ended up staying with him for a while and they fell in love.

I need help trying to figure the name of this book.the cover is a girl with wild red hair in a green dress. I think she was wearing a green dress or pants. Anyways, the heroine of the story lives in San Francisco with her father is a doctor. She meets this man named William and falls for him. In order for her to marry him though she has to attend classes to become a proper lady(takes place in like the 1800s in america) after the classes he goes aboard a ship to move to we're William is. She is now living near native Americans and where she lives the people there harvest clams for profit. Soon she finds out that William married a Native American girl so he could get land and even though this happened the heroine still decides to stay. Sorry if this is really messed I am typing on my iPod and I have typed this so many times. If you can help thanks you so much. I have been trying forever to find it. This is also a series. The girl eventually falls in love with a Native American who's name started with a j I think. And in the first book the girl has to go out in the woods with these 2 guys one of them being the one she eventually falls for and is forced to wear pants when she doesn't want to.

She's cooking for a party they (Alex & Margie) are having and has a few too many drinks. He carries her to her room and they kiss. He leaves and goes downstairs to the kitchen and starts to complain about her to Margie. She goes downstairs intending to clean up and overhears him.

I'm trying to find the name/author of an old historical romance book that I read some time back in the late 70's (I think). The heroine was orphaned (I believe) and had to sell everything, including a near-wild horse that would only let her ride. For some reason, she ended up living with our hero, and found her horse in his stable. Does anyone know what book I'm talking about? I just really remember a scene in the story where she finds her horse in his stable and takes off riding. He sees her and thinks the horse has run away with her. That's all I can really remember. Plot: Teacher takes in a student as a foster child (possibly named Carrie? Casey?) who was being neglected by her own mother. The little girl initially has trouble fitting in, breaks her arm, is accused of stealing by rude neighbors, breaks husband Joe's mandolin, and basically gets off to a rough start. She eventually becomes close with Joe (whose own father died when he was a young child), and the couple adopt the little girl. If I remember correctly, secondary plot point was the tension between husband and wife over fertility issues but I might be confusing that with another story.

I want to say it was a Harlequin book with a blue cover but I might be mixing memories here. Thanks for your help!

Hi! Was hoping to get a little help finding two novels I read in high school (mid 1990s). One was about a woman who lived with her father on a ranch and she ended up getting pregnant with the son of the neighboring ranchs kid and having to leave. Then she comes back after her father dies.....there is a fire at one point.

The second is about a woman who wins a small sum in the lottery and takes a trip to Europe meets a titled guy on the plane and ends up helping someone save their castle by turning into a hotel.....she also takes a river cruise on the yacht of the main guy.

Trying to find the title and author of a historical romance(s) trilogy, guessing Scottish cuz it has castles. Neighboring clans (heroine is in charge of her castle) kidnap each others siblings. She kidnaps "him" because his brother kidnappped her sister (although its a farce and her sister plotted the whole thing to be with her lover). So heroine kidnaps him (hero) and puts him in her dungeon while her sister and his brother "live it up" in the heros castle. heroine feels for him and let's him out, they fall in love, live in her castle...and this Trilogy continues with the 2nd book..the sister not being of sound mind, having married the wild brother, she kills him and even the 2nd book has a Lord or Kings daughter coming to Castle Heroine/Hero to be nanny to their daughters and her story continues in book 3....with an addition of Hero's older son, Tor or Thor, he didnt know he had from an affair/past lover some 18-20 years ago. Hope this helps in helping me:). If I get 1 title I'm sure the rest I can look up, but I can't remember a good portion of 1st books names but hope the remaining books plots and names might help with the series.

Okay so here I go. I've been dying to finish this book, I was able to read the first couple of chapters before I had my bag stolen 1 1/2 years ago. Basically the story goes like this - there's a woman, who was the daughter of the housekeeper,that still thinks about her childhood crush. He is the son of the houses' owner. in order for him to inherit the house(I believe), he has to marry. the woman agrees to the terms as long as she is able to have his baby. After the wedding they "consummate the marriage" where he learns that she is a virgin.
this is about all I know of the book, I believe it's set somewhere in the midwest, it's a contemporary, perhaps Harlequin published it, and it was written between 2000-2011.

Ok I am new to this group and going crazy! Last year I read a comtemporary romance book about a man who is coming home to tell his twin brothers girlfriend he died! The twins were CIA or black ops or secret service I am not sure! Anyway when she sees him she assumes it is the dead brother and they jump into bed. He falls in love and wants to tell her but can't. The girl lives on a ranch or a farm! She ends up getting pregnant and she knew the dead brother couldn't have any childen but she already knew something was different about him. Looking for author, title of a romance book that I read in the 80's or early 90's. This book was a Silhouette or a Harlequin novel. It was about a man who was named either Daniel or Phillip, who was kept drugged in a sanitarium, kept there by his family. He was ultimately rescued by a woman who realized he was not insane and eventually helped him get his life back. I think the title may have had the word "Man" in it, but not sure. Any help would be appreciated.

I read a book, maybe 15 years or so ago and it's been so long that I've forgotten the title and author. But I loved it, so I've been trying to find it based on the little I remember. Maybe someone will know it...

It's a historical romance during WWII. The hero (I THINK his name is Phillip, but can't be sure) and heroine meet (I think at a party in England?)they are attracted but he has a secret and at the end of the night he asks her to remember him as he is or as a good person or something. He disappears the following morning. He leaves to go France work undercover, not as a Nazi but a businessman aiding their cause I think. A year or two later, she ends up joining the resistance and goes undercover in France as well, not knowing he is there. She is eventually arrested and somehow he hears about it and shows up to get her out of jail (I think, using the pretense of making her his mistress). Of course she is shocked to see him and thinks he is working with the Nazis, so that puts a thorn in the relationship. He takes her back to his apt in France and keeps her there, at least for a while. I don't remember much else, except that she has a specific mission to fulfill that is dangerous.

I don't even remember how it ends... I just remember loving the book, and I've been trying to remember anything that would help me find it over the last few years.

It was probably a new publication at the time because I got the book in a funny way. I bought pjs and the picture on the nightgown was the book cover. And the pjs came with the book.

Okay so this may be a tricky one and I don't have many details on the plot of this book. I remember it being a good one and I want to track it down!

A Spainish (??) girl (I really think her name is Isabella) finds out that her deceased father has arranged for her to marry a man he's chosen (possibly her cousin or they're distantly related somehow, I think) Before they marry, she hates him but then grows to like him and begins to look forward to their wedding. Meanwhile some other guy (a nobleman of sorts, if I remember correctly) shows up. Isabella has this quiet spot in the barn she like to go to and think. This Nobelman guy ends up fooling around with Isabella's sister or friend or something in the barn and this guy Isabella is supposed to marry sees the nobleman leaving the barn doing up his fly and then Isabella leaving with straw in her hair and assumes they were fooling around. He leaves before seeing the other girl come out. Then on their wedding night this guy basically rapes Isabella because he thinks she cheated on him before the wedding. They reconcile and this nobleman turns out to be some bad guy, I believe.

I know those are sketchy details but that's all I can remember! I hope someone recognizes the book! Thanks for the help! :)

Okay Abby, I am 99.9% sure that this is your book: The Heir by Catherine Coulter. I read it many years ago, but as soon as you mentioned the straw in the hair part, I went on a search for it!

I can't remember about the Spanish part...but the girl's name is Arabella and there is the whole "barn hiding spot, sister fools around with French count, hero sees her walk out mussed up and assumes the worst" thing going on. And her father had just died and she loved him even though he was not a great person, but chose her husband for her. Actually, the hero is really awful to Arabella for the rest of the book, even when he learns that she was innocent. I remember the wedding night rape being sort of horrible and I was like 18 or 19 when I read this and was sort of horrified. Also, not to spoil it completely, but I think the count ends up being related somehow and impregnated his cousin (Arabella's sister??). However, I do remember that despite everything, I enjoyed the book!!!

Its a historical romance about a girl who has an arranged marriage to a man she doesnt know. He's absolutely horrible. She becomes friends with her husbands 'cousin' i think it is who is a bit quirky possibly camp, but it is all an act as i think he is trying to catch his cousin commiting treason or some treachery along those lines. Anyway the husband hasnt consummated the marriage, think it repulses him, so he sends his right hand man to do the deed but luckily he doesnt get chance, and the husbands cousin interferes and sleeps with her instead. I do remember a steamy love scene against a wall behind some tapestries but my memory isnt as good so that could be another story entirely. The name Roger rings a bell also but who knows lol i keep thinking it has the word 'Virgin' in the title but every book ive tried doesnt seem to be it.
I really hope someone can help me an save my poor brain :) Will be sure to return the favour where i can

Can you all help me find TWO books please? Both are historical romances I have read at least 10 years ago.

1. The first is a regency romance and the female lead was not your typical female. She was tall and each of her eyes were of a different color. She also had a beautiful head of dark hair (chestnut brown?). I think she considered her hair her best 'feature'. She was a 'full figured' woman by the standards of that time. Shapely i guess. I believe she had a dog and a kind of dopey relative that was a dependent that lived with her. She managed her property too. A very strong female character. I do not remember how the hero fit in. I know he was crazy about her.

2. The next one is also a regency romance. It had a goth feel to it. The male character was scarred from war. And came from war with his hand deformed and I believe his face scarred. He wore a glove and stayed in the dark alot. His brother that was heir to some title went missing and orphaned two little girls (pre-teens) that were afraid of their uncle. The female lead came to be the governess of the two girls, but I believe she was apart of the gentry too. I remember her helping him to use his hand again, and his big brother did show up in the end again. I believe his story was next.

I find comfort in knowing that I am not the only person that goes a little nuts when I can't remember the title of past novels I have read. Because i have been trying to figure these ones out among other books for over 10 years now! Every once in a while I spend hours on google search. Like today.

Help!The book is a Time Travel/Historical Romance Story

So the plot goes something like this:

The heroine is the niece of this old couple who run a museum near Hadrian wall....or the Scottish border with England. The one thing that stands out in the museum to the heroine is this portrait of a baron or earl....some titled man (the hero) whose duty was to guard the border from Scottish attacks.

In the Present, while exploring the land surrounding the museum this chick ends up in a cave and somehow (there might have been crystals involved) she gets sucked back into time, the same time as the guy in the picture.

Anywho, in the past, since the hero's people informs him that the daughter/sister (maybe a red head) of a very important man from the other side of the border was going to be traveling near to his land and he has guards out loooking for her. As you might have expected, they stumble across our time traveller and naturally assumed it was her. She of course vehemently denies this and of course no one believes her.
I don't know what quite happens but his mom (she's a bit evil) doesn't want her staying in the castle(?) and tells his son to put the heroine in the dungeon, he has her put there, but only for night as he couldn't sleep knowing she was there.

After this point my memory is a bit blurry...but they fall in love, I remember a bathtub love scene (there were many other love scenes), them clearing up the midunderstanding that she was scottish and her getting pregnant.

And well near the end stages of her pregnancy there was some sort of mini-war between the english and scottish, the war that history reports him dying in, she obviously doesn't want him to go knowing that he'll die, but he goes anyway and he got injured and her mother-in-law makes it sound horrible so the heroine assumes that he's dead and flees the castle to the cave that flashed her into the past.

in the future/ her former present, she arrives mid-labour. Anyway, a few days later she finds out that her husband didn't die but was merely injured and that he paced the area around the cave that she appeared everyday for the rest of his life, she goes back to the cave with her child and is once again taken to the past.

This time it is the scottish that find her and return her to her husband and they live happily ever after.

I think there was an epilogue in the future, but that's all I remember, please help me get the name of this book! ^_^

I'm new here so I hope I do this right! The book I'm searching for I read in the 1990s, most likely as a library book. I don't remember title or author or even any of the names (that would be too easy!). The main character was a woman who wrote fantasy-type stories/novels. The book started out with her trying to print out her newest manuscript to deliver to the publisher, but her printer was not working. She crawled under the desk to see if she could figure out the problem and either hit her head or got shocked, and she woke up in the fantasy world she'd created surrounded by her characters - and they weren't very happy with her. Particularly her main character, a Conan-type guy who never got the girl and ran around half naked with a huge sword on his back. He let her know he DID feel the cold, he was freezing his butt off most of the time, the sword was heavy, and he was tired of never getting a woman. That part really stuck in my brain, LOL!

The rest not so much. I do remember that at some point they were locked in some sort of cell or dungeon, and the writer was scribbling notes or something and she discovered if she wrote something down, it became "true" in the fantasy world. So she wrote that there was a hidden door behind a chest or something and they managed to escape. It won her a few brownie points with her unhappy characters but she still had a long way to go from there.

New here! I have been trying to find a book I read in the late 1990s or early 2000. It is a historical western. A man loses his wife in childbirth. He has an infant to take care of and I starts looking for a woman to help. I think the young lady he finds is "sold" to him. Her parents just wanted rid of her. She had a baby just a few days before but her baby had died. She goes home with him. Of course he didnt know she had a baby. She ends up nursing his child. They fall in live. She had a baby just a few days before but the baby died. Anyway he was shocked when he sees her nursing his baby because of course he didn't know she had had a baby.

Happy Valentine's Day. I was wondering if you could please be of some assistance. I am looking for two books both I believe are Harlequin novels.

First - A model with a dying husband who wants a child has a one night stand with a photographer who has the same eye colour as her husband and gets pregnant. Hero is from Australia I believe. Years later he does one of her shoots and finds out about the son he didn't know he had.

Second - A woman travels to another country to see her father and meets one of her father's younger friends who in her in her opinion isn't good company for her father to keep. They somehow develop feelings for eachother and when she's on her way home he chases after her bus and stops it and takes her away. The last line of the book I think is "now, let's see what kind of lover I am"

Please help. I am trying to find a historical/ regency romance novel I read a very long time ago but I cannot remember the title ( think it might have the word 'lady' in there somewhere). Can't also remember the names of any of the characters in the book but I think its with a blue cover and it's got the picture of a girl in a bath tub on it.

In the story, girl comes to London to look for her grandfather but was turned away by her uncle. On the same night, she was attacked by two men who had intention of raping her, but was saved by a man ( who is a lord or some similar title) who then makes her his mistress also making sure to tell her that he does not want to be tied down in marriage.
Along the line, the grandfather (who is a wealthy and titled man also)finds out that she is in london and forces her lover to marry her, leaving the lover feeling angry and trapped. Girl becomes pregnant but before she could tell her lover/ husband, she is kidnapped by uncle ( I think) who tries to kill her but husband finds her and saves her.

Please help me anyone. My mother in law is trying to find a Historical Romance Book, but she can't remember the name or author. All she remembers about the book was it was about a guy named Marcus. He met this woman (She can't remember the woman's name) and he was trying to get rid of her. He took her to prostitute houses and other places trying to get rid of her. She said finally after an incident where they were in a carriage or something that he won and jumped out of it. She landed in a grave yard and she got shot. That was because back in that time period they would tie guns to the graves or something to stop grave robbers. She never got to finish the book, but that's where she got to in it and all she could remember.

Does anyone at all remember this Book or anything about it? I would love to read it myself. It sounds really exciting and a Historical Romance Book that would keep you reading for hours on end.

Hello. I'm really frustrated because I remember the plot and the heroine's name, but the title has escaped me.
Her name is Virginia White, but the hero calls her Ginny. They meet in a bar and he brings her home (her house, nothing happens). He discovers that her finances are low, so he makes a proposition. His grandmother has recently died, leaving him her ranch, which he loves, but only if he marries and stays that way for six months. If he fails, her husband gets it. He proposes that they marry and she live on the ranch until he has the ranch, then they'll divorce and go their separate ways. He will pay her $25,000 after their divorce.

I think that the word "Texan" was in the title. Don't quote me but I think it was a Silluette. The cover was red and had a pair of black cowboy boots and badly drawn female toes with red polish. This is what's so frustrating! I remember everything but the title and author!

I'm looking for two books. I have torn apart my personal library and can't find them so I assume they are on my crashed hard drive as e-books. :( ANY help would be wonderful as its driving me crazy!!!

1) Its a western time period book, that takes place i believe near the east coast states. I know its not much to go on but a woman ends up pregnant with her husband (? or at least I think they were married), but something happens and she leaves or something forces them apart. She ends up running an inn and raising the kid for a few years. The husband comes back into the picture and yeah that's about all i can remember! (Hence why I'm having so much trouble googling the darn thing). I remember there being a parade near the end, with tons of flowers or something? The kid was a girl if that helps... Sorry its not a lot to go on!

2) Another one in America, western time ish frame, maybe earlier. Cant remember much but the main woman ends up running a farm using reformed street women as the workers.

Again, I know its not a lot to go on and if i remember more I'll be sure to post. These books are driving me crazy and since I'm pregnant i need books to read to pass the time!!! Thank you everybody!!!

there's a scene in the beginning of the book... she doesn't know he's in town yet, he gets on the same elevator as her... she's shocked and panicked to see him, she's also mad... he left town without saying goodbye and was quite rude when he left, he also blew her off when she tried to tell him that he'd gotten her sister pregnant... she thought he should know since he is the father, but then he comes back into town years later and she's anxious about him finding out, thinking he might decide to take Daisy away from her... anyways, she's shocky and panicked to see him get into the same elevator as her, she's incredibly rude to him since he just left town without a goodbye or anything, she tells him that she thought they were friends... they chat a bit, the elevator gets stuck, he convinces her to climb on his shoulders to open the lil hatch at the top of the elevator, but while she's up there, on his shoulders, the elevator doors open, and his family is standing there... she makes a hasty getaway

I forgot to mention that Wyoming Tough is the second book in a series of three (so far). The first is To Love and Cherish - Shelby and King's (Morie's mom and dad) story. The third is her brother Cort's story, The Rancher.

THIS IS DRIVING ME CRAZY. its has sex scenes. A girls (red hair I think) father dies when a tress falls on it (I think) she is injured and wakes up in a strange house. The book is regency, nobility and all that sort of thing. The heroine is raised from low to be the mistress of someone important, perhaps a king. She goes through a few men on the way. At one point in the books, to avoid children, she takes carriage rides in bumpy areas to prevent pregnancies.

In the end, they end up together and there are children. She lives in a beautiful house and is content. If anyone could help I would be forever grateful. Thank you.

I am looking for a historical romance. One of the scenes is set specifically in Bath, England. I remember the hero was some kind of detective or maybe a spy. The heroine was a wannabe detective. In the scene I remember they are searching for something in 'the waters' at Bath after hours and they start talking and the it leads to them kissing and, the only way I can say this is dry humping each other in the water. He actually has an orgasm while doing and surprises himself in that regard. I think the heroine is nobility, but I'm not sure about the hero.

I can't remember much else. I do know that it is not a series, it is not Harlequin, and it was not the Lavinia Lake books.

I read it between 2000 and 2006, I think the author was a well known author at the time. I would really like to read this story again and since I can't remember if I got it from the library or I bought it and it was one of the books I lost when I moved in 2006, I was hoping that someone on here would know.

Hi! I joined this group because for a couple of years now I've been beating my brains out trying to remember a book I read when I was around 12-13, I've just recently called the library giving them the details but I doubt I'll get a call back.
Anyways the gist of the book revovles around a Black River Horse Spirit (whose name I can't remember) and a Princess ( who I can't remember also, sad I know), its historical because it has castles and knights in it, well in the middle of the book the river spirit shows the princess 3 magic orbs that would grant him wishes that were given to him by 3 muses who he let ride on his back some centuries before. They told him that when the time came that he would use them that he would forfiet his beautiful horse form for that of a man which he heatedly refuses to believe will ever happen since he declares he would never give up his form for anything less. The princess I believe visits him all the time and eventually he falls for her but she is (I believe it is) forced to wed someone, luckily the horse spirit uses the orbs to turn himself human, rescues her and then turns them both into swans to help them escape from her captors. They become human when they touch dry land but then turn back into swans when they touch water.
I REALLY wanna find this book so if anyone knows who wrote it and what the title is I would appreciate it SOOOO much! I don't know if the author was well know, the book when I seen it was well hidden and was small in size, it seemed to me like a earlier version of a teen romance novel written before the 90's or even the 80's, I'm at such a loss, but I hope someone has read it!Thanks!

I'm looking for a historical book, hero has been injured and wife is called to identify him and nurse him back to health. He has amnesia when comes awake. The lord of the estate 'hired' the nurse/wife. The hero is kept upstairs in a cottage on the estate, and has a bodyguard to protect him since his life is in danger.

There were several books loosely connected in this series, having to do with spies and around Napoleonic wars, during or after. I think this was one of the last in the series. It's been at least 6 or 7 years since I read the series but I enjoyed them at the time. Can't remember the author to even start looking.

So I read this novel a year or so ago and it has been bugging me that i cannot remember the title of it. I spent the entire day yesterday researching it online! It has been bugging me that much!
Unfortunately, i don't remember much detail about the book but i remember some parts of the story.
I don't remember the title or author or even any of the characters' names from the book.

So the story back maybe 19th or 20th century..I'm not sure. But i do know that the main character, who is maybe 17 and older, doesn't fit in the society like other women because she seems to be less feminine than them or maybe less interested in what they do (tea parties, shopping, gossiping..etc.) So this one day, she is riding a horse through the streets and something happened that spooked the horse and she fell of the horse. I think another woman came and helped the main character up and tried to calm down the horse. The two women got talking and i think one of them ended up inviting the other one into a women organization. I think the organization had something to do with traveling to war sites and helping to nurse wounded soldiers and take care of them. I think the main character ended up going with them but left a letter for her mom. I think the girl traveled with the organization but parted from the organization and went to another place where she also helped in nursing people (i think). all i know is that she traveled to different places. The last place i thing she traveled to was a war site also and she ended up becoming an assistant or like a helper or something. But i know that before she was assigned that, she helped to capture someone and the person who assigned her the new job mistook her for a boy/man. Probably because she had pulled her hair up and was wearing boy garments because the place she was at was too hot and ended up borrowing some clothes from a guy she worked with so that she could do her job easily. Anyway, so the person who mistook her for a boy assigned her to be his assistant or pageboy or something. And she couldn't even explain that she was a girl because the guy was high in position and i think he was a commander or captain or general or lieutenant and a famous one too. So she continued to disguise herself as a boy and became the commander's assistant. I think the story goes on as they are in war sites and the commander is leading his army. He also feels attracted to the girl and he is confused because she is a boy to him.

I forgot to mention that while this girl is traveling, her brother's best friend is searching for her worrying that something might happen to her. He wants to marry her but she want sure of marrying him. So as the story is ending, the best friend actually happens to reveal to the commander that the girl is a girl and not a boy. but i think he did that by accident because he entered the tent and was shocked to see her as a boy and blurted out all these questions about what she was doing and why she was dressed like that or something. Basically the commander finds out and gets furious with her for not telling him that she is a woman and demands that she leave. So she goes back home with her brother's best friend.
In the end, though, after maybe a year or maybe after the war is over, she happens to go to this party and the commander also happens to be there and he confesses to her that he kept thinking about her and that he started feeling things before and was confused because hje thought that she was a boy. I know she loved him too but i forgot whether she married him or her brother's best friend. I'm thinking that she married the commander.

OH and i forgot to mention that the women that she met in the beginning became her best friend and they traveled together but later the best friend went back home because she got pregnant and she was also sick of seeing wounded soldiers and couldn't bear it anymore.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me find this book! I know i wrote a lot but i really want to read this book again. And I'm sorry if what i wrote is confusing.

This was I'm sure a short story from a compliation book that I can't remember the title of. The story as I remember it: A woman sitting by her husband in the hospital, he wakes up without memory of her. She's wearing his family ring though. They fly to spain and stay at his villa, which also houses his mother. The mother doesn't like the wife who spends 90% of the novel trying to make her husband remember her. There's a brother that comes into play as a jealously ploy. Finally at the end of the story they're in a parade along the city and the man looks at his wife and finally remembers her. I can't stop thinking about this story and could use any help. Thanks!

1.) It is set back in England. On the way to meet his betrothed this loard gets kidnaped from an Inn or something like that. he is let go comes back with his kights to take the missterss of the house. that is all I can really remember of the book. there is a possible three authors to the book Julie Garwood, Jude Deveraux, or Judith McNaught. 2.) The other book has to deal with time travel back to the American Revolutionary War. this girl is in a grave yeard she see one headstone off by it's self she walks over to see who it is. she then sees the goast of the officer, he is wearing the red coat. some who she gets wraped up in going back in time. can't remember much eles about the book. when i read the book it had a yellow cover though. don't know the auther or the name of the book.

I read this book a couple years ago and want to read it again and just can't remember the name.
The basic plot is that a woman's sister is turned down and heartbroken by the town "bad boy" in order to 'avenge' her sister so to speak the woman decides to entice the bad boy to the local church where she would have drugged his drink once he falls asleep she will take off his clothes so on Sunday morning he is embaressed the way her sister was. Things clearly don't go as planned, the woman meets the boys older brother who looks almost identical, she thinks it is him and he plays along. She lures him to the church but then they both fall asleep there together (I think a storm came and they stayed inside to keep dry) the next morning the father of the woman who I believe is the pastor walks in with the rest of the congrigation to find the two. Then in order to save face the father marries the two. The man takes his new wife to his small home where he is raising his 3(?) younger brothers by himself. The wife slowly but surely becomes the attached and becomes good at housework and cooking. An injury leads the husbands mother ( possibly aunt) to come visit, the wife no longer feels needed since the aunt takes care of domestic duties so the wife takes a trip back home. All is well that ends well though and they live happily ever after.

Hello! I'm looking for a historical romance novel that I think was written in the 80s. It is set in the medieval period. The Heroine appears to be tomboyish to the Hero. She wears breeches and a man's shirt. She loves her horses more than anything. The horses are a valuable and rare breed. Hero & Heroine are arranged to be married, both are against it, but she's very against it so she plays up to his expectations that she doesn't know how to behave like a lady (when in fact she does) so he'll want to call off the wedding or his mother (who wants him to get married while he doesn't) will call it off. They have to journey to his homeland for the wedding. During the journey, they are captured by some thief-like tribe that he has a history with, and he has to fight because she refuses to allow him to pay the price to continue their journey with her horses. After the fight, they make love for the first time. But of course something happens to make them angry with each other so she continues her charade of being unladylike, and his mother refuses to allow the marriage. Heroine leaves but discovers she is pregnant so she has to marry someone to protect her virtue and livelihood with the horses. She picks some random guy, but Hero comes after her and insists they be married because he loves her. After the wedding she tells him about the pregnancy but he already knows because he knows her body so well and saw the changes.

I think the story might have been the second in a series because it makes references to a time when the Hero pretended to be his friend who is a King so that when the King went to meet his intended bride he could get to know her without her knowing he is the one she is supposed to marry. Also, I remember the book cover being blue.

Ok I will give this a try but my details are kinda slim. I believe I am looking for a trilogy or a series about a couple that keep on getting separated. I believe she was part of a harem at one point and he either saves her or is part of it too. The books go all over for locations. I know they are in the Americas at one point. They are all tug and war between her using her sexuality to get them out of difficult situations and he doesn't want her to sleep with different guys. I know she has his kid at one point but he doesn't know about it. Her servants help her throughout the whole story line. Hi, I've been racking my brain to try and remember the titles of some books a read several years ago but I can't remember the names. The first novel is a western romance most likely Harlequin that I read years ago about a woman and her 3? friends who robbed stagecoaches for gold. I think the leading lady was an innkeeper by day or something like that and the town sheriff? fell in love with her at the end after he arrested her. I also read another book (could have been a silhouette mystery) about this lady who was the victim of a fire? and was seeing a psychiatrist to try and help her remember what happened during the fire but it turns out the psychiatrist was the bad guy. Thank you Savage Grace but I just read half and it isn't it. The hero doesn't know for most of the book that his squire is a female. They travel throughout the book. I remember that the Gypsies or maybe the circus even say how the hero of the book is blind that he cannot see.

Aw, sorry! I was hoping it was the right one; I had checked a couple others but that seemed to be the closest one to the plot. It's happening again... That book I read when I was twelve has started to haunt me again. I desperately need help.

So, it's a romance novel, and I believe it was written from 2003 to 2005, but I'm not certain. I -think- the cover head the back of the head of a blonde girl.

It was about two sisters running away, getting fake IDs and starting a new life, and I know one of the sisters meets a guy whose name starts with C (Connor? Collin?) and the romance is between them. I remember the end having one of the sisters leaving the room while she was playing scrabble with the guy, and when she came back, "ILOVEYOU" was on the board.

Somewhere in the story, the sisters' friends find them, too.

Anyone have an idea of what this is?

Am I deluded or did Eloisa James' "With This Kiss" trilogy (Part One already released, Part Two out Tuesday and Part Three next week) already been released? Or am I thinking of a similar story by another author? Because I swear I've read it before... e_e

Can you remember anything about the title? I try to remember names but usually fail, although sometimes I can remember that the author's name was weird/unusual (ie: Shirl Henke or Shirlee Busbee) or for titles I might remember a part of it... like the word Taming or Butterfly... make sense?

It's even better if you can remember something about the Hero or heroines names, even if it's how their names started or, if - for example - your Indian brother-in-law in the story had a Native name?

Any idea what the era was? Was it in America or England? Ireland or Scotland?

The more the better! You never know what little memory could find it. LOL

Oh, and do you think you remember if it was a Harlequin book or a Mills & Book. The cover makes me think it might be Mills & Books from prob. the 80s.

I'll have to reread when I'm more awake but I've skimmed and searched words and it doesn't seem to be the one I was looking for. :( Another "child bride" had visited her in the country after the H's return and informs her of the vicious gossip going on; people had been saying she was deformed, among other things, and that is why H never introduced her to London society but kept her in the country. Near the end of the book, h is attacked by a man out for revenge against H (I think) and is nearly raped before H gets to them and kills the man. I don't recall there being a fight over H's inheritance or her having siblings but IDK... I've searched for it for SO long but I can still only remember bits of it. LOL =/

Here's something that might be easier to find... it's only been released in the past 2-3 years maybe. It's about a man - H - who spends his time basically taking bets on who he can bed, drinks, does drugs, etc. He takes a bet on h who has a small child, a boy. He falls in love and starts to settle down, even bonding with her son but then one of his old trampy drug-addicted chicks comes around and tells her about H and says she is pregnant with his baby. Later on the girl has the kid which is, of course, totally messed up from the drugs and the fact the idiot has been OD'ing on prenatal vitamins or something weird like that, (I think she was trying to fight any affects her drug us was having on the fetus but it, of course, didn't work). Poor little kid (recall him calling it Elizabeth, I think?) is a premmie, drug-addicted mess, and dies which, even though he LOATHES the druggie chick, completely devastates him. He gives the druggie a good verbal thrashing (which I rooted for and was so ticked that h would feel sympathy for her because she was clearly only after this dudes money - think she even gloated about it to h - and has been making his life hell).

H then goes back to his old skanks and h and son walk in to find one of the skanks being all smug and strutting around in lingerie h had purchased to wear for H. H is depressed, angry and sick with himself so he verbally bashes h, etc. before she finally tells him where to go. There was a sequel coming out and I was hoping he'd redeem himself for good - because, aside from his drama, he and h were super cute and perfect together).

The book might only be an indie or something but I'd be SO thankful if someone can help me out again! LOL Going through my epub library and reading things have me remembering more and more books I loved and lost along the way... >_

The hero is a recently released prisoner from Russia (I think) and the heroine is a reporter for a newspaper. They met when her father took her to see his paintings when she was younger, probably around her teenage years. She goes up to where he's staying and it's by a beach or something. There's also this little boy who has been looking in these caves nearby for cave drawings. At one point the boy is missing and the hero and heroine go looking for him. They are in the caves and there's this hole only she can get through so he gives her his sweater and she crawls through and finds the boy. They also found the cave drawings. I remember something in the end about the heroine seeing a chinese guy using a german camera taking pictures of england (or london) and she thinks the hero would find that funny.

I am trying to find a historical/ regency romance novel I read a very long time ago but I cannot remember the title ( think it might have the word 'lady' in there somewhere but not sure). Can't also remember the names of any of the characters in the book but I think it's got the picture of a girl in a bath tub on it.

In the story, girl comes to London from france after the death of her mother; to look for her grandfather but was turned away by her uncle. On the same night, she was attacked by two men who had intention of raping her, but was saved by a man ( who is a lord or some similar title) she ends up becoming his mistress as she had no where else to go.
Along the line, the grandfather (who is a wealthy and titled man also)finds out that she is in london and that she is being kept by this man and forces him to marry her, leaving the lover feeling angry and trapped.
Girl becomes pregnant but before she could tell her lover/ husband, she is kidnapped by uncle ( I think) who tries to kill her because he is threatened of her new found relationship with her grandfather but husband finds her and saves her.

Two men are in love with the same woman and they chase after her down steps and through alleyways, but the city keeps shifting. I thought it was Italo Calvino but none of the plots match.

I have red two books that I have been surching for for a long time.
1.) It is set back in England. On the way to meet his betrothed this loard gets kidnaped from an Inn or something like that. he is let go comes back with his kights to take the missterss of the house. that is all I can really remember of the book. there is a possible three authors to the book Julie Garwood, Jude Deveraux, or Judith McNaught. If you could give me the name of the book that would be great.

2.) The other book has to deal with time travel back to the American Revolutionary War. this girl is in a grave yeard she see one headstone off by it's self she walks over to see who it is. she then sees the goast of the officer, he is wearing the red coat. some who she gets wraped up in going back in time. can't remember much eles about the book. when i read the book it had a yellow cover though. don't know the auther or the name of the book.

Help please. I read a book prior to to 2000. It was a romance that involved time travel. A family owned a ranch in the american west (modern times). There was a portal on the ranch where the family could travel back to ancient norse times. The portal was thru what appeared to be a tunnel in the ground. It was a series.

Looking for a historical romance book. Set in England. In the beginning, the heroine had something of hers stolen while in a carriage ride by a sweet old lady/couple who offered to hold her bag. When the heroine retrieves back her goods, the hero notices and thinks she is a thief. He demands her help to look or retrieving something, and thinks she is a thief for most of the story. Eventually, they marry at the end of the book. Read it a while back, maybe in 2005, so not a new book. It was a thick paperback, ~325 pages. Help appreciated!

Yes!!! There was a castle and the parsonage and yes, there was a tunnel that ran between them. And the vicar's disguise and his other costumes were kept in the tunnel. And he wore a padded stomach and glasses, I think, as the vicar. I just remembered those details

I've been looking for a book off and on for the last couple of years and I'm hoping that someone may have an idea of the title and/or author.

Takes place in regency/historical England. A woman of means (she or her father may have had some sort of title) disguises herself as a governess so that her friend (possibly former governess?) can go get married. I remember that she had a really hard time doing her hair in the mornings since she hadn't done it herself before. She falls in love with the widowed lord of the manor, he is trying to not fall in love with her because he thinks it's improper to fall in love with a governess. If I remember correctly the Lord had a youg girl, maybe around 7-ish? The heroine is eventually found out for being her ture self and they get married. I was convinced that it all took place around Christmas time but could be wrong on that, also seem to remember the book cover having yellow behind the title in red with the heronie on the cover in a blue or green dress. Probably published in the 90s.

I'm so frustrated!!! I want to find this book so bad. The story goes like this: There was a deformed woman who her entire life wished that she would be beautiful so she could fall in love. Somehow (I don't remember exactly what happened) she became beautiful but it wouldn't last for long. So she was enamored by her lord and fell in love quickly. She didnt want to tell him the truth but in order for her to stay beautiful she had to go on a quest (not sure for what or where but I know it's thru the woods) to become beautiful again. I think in the end she turns ugly in the woods on their way and in order to keep the spell he had to make love to her while she was in her deformed state. Hey y'all, my memory is shot and if anyone could give me a push in the right direction, I'd be over the moon about it.

A couple years ago, when I first started paying attention to ebooks, I downloaded just masses of'em and read as quick as I could, didn't pay attention to authors or titles because I figured I'd never delete them (cyber hoarder), which I didn't, I've just had technological mishaps since then.

So this book I remember distinctly wasn't very long. It was about a young pair of twin girls (18-20 years old) in Victorian England (or maybe even a little before that period) who lived with their uncle. Uncle needed money so he was going to marry one of the girls, the one with more spunk, off to the rich old creep who had gone through multiple "wives" already because he'd abuse them so badly the first few nights they'd die. So these twins sneak off the night before the girl's marriage, one of them dressed as a boy to be both less noticeable (twin girls on the run draws attention) and so as to provide an 'escort' of sorts and a better sense of safety. A man comes across them while they're on the run and they, more or less, find shelter with him as he travels back to his home, the twins constantly switching out who plays a boy every other day. The poor guy gets really confused because sometimes he's attracted to the young girl, but after they switch out, he finds himself attracted to the boy.

It was hilarious and cute and I miss stories like this. Of course, there's eventually the Big Reveal, everything gets sorted out, and the spunky twin marries the helpful man in the end.

Ideas? Thoughts? Jokes?

Historical romance, hero contracts a bride of convienience to have an heir because he is under the belief that he is dying. He believes he is dying because he has episodes of horrible migraines that lay him out for days at a time. The heroine becomes pregnant and the also becomes ill after eating some pastries. They find out that the pastries are poisoned and the unknown villain has been slowly killing the hero in order to take the title.

That's all I can remember.

So it's killing me. I'm trying to remember the name of this book I read back in high school. I want to say it was published maybe in the early 2000s (2002?) but don't trust me on that. Definitely before 2005 though. The gist of the story as far as I can remember: the young wealthy girl (17-ish, 20-ish?) living somewhere in Europe (I forgot pretty much all the names associated with this book...) gets kidnapped the day before her arranged marriage to this other wealthy guy. She gets thrown onto a ship with other captured girls and they are transported to the Colonies in North America (yes I forgot which colony it was too...).

The male protagonist is a guy ten years older than her, he lost his wife some years ago due to either accident or illness. He has an 8 year old (?) son, they live in a cabin by a lake a little ways from the town. He's looking for a mother-figure (governess) for his son and goes to the ship carrying the girls in hopes of finding someone suitable. The two of them meet, steadily fall in love and eventually get married.

After the wedding, the girl's family has followed her to the colonies in order to find her. Her ex-fiance and his mother is there as well as but I forget if the two families went over independently or alone. The was-to-be-mother-in-law hates her, the fiance ended up with someone else and the parents were initially against their daughter marrying into a lower class but the somehow, the story ends with everyone content one way or another.

The author weaves in a variety of side stories, all connected to the main plot and pretty much every character in the story got a chapter/section dedicated to him or her to explain the character's motives for their actions.

I'm new here. I can only remember the first part and some synopsis. It's a romance novel. It has two sisters in it and I think either they're father or mother had just died or got killed, the younger was raped by a group of men and the older one was there but she hide and felt guilty because she couldn't do anything. Neighbors- begins with the h a young girl that adores the two neighbor boy's family. I think she fell out of a tree watching them eat dinner... Wishing she had a family like that of her own. I think she is raised by only her father & he is gone often. As she grows up she tries to be a lady, but I think she climbs a tree, dirties her dress & the H helps her clean up.
Seems like the H leaves for a long time after he compromised her & returns years later to find that his brother is her protector.
I remember something about her loosing their child & taking him to the small grave marked by a stone by a tree. I think the brother had to bury the baby:-/

I have been trying to find a romance book way back in the days when I was a teenager about a heroine that has been sent or locked away in a covenant, I'm assuming by her family, brother, or uncle. I vaguely remember but the hero and a couple of men come to rescue her, I am assuming they heard about the situation maybe regarding that either her family is marrying her off I guess to get their hands on her money or something like that.

Upon arriving at the covenant, the hero, I am assuming marries her right then and there but before leaving, the hero cuts his forearm with a knife to make it seem the marriage was consummated . I am also assuming the nuns or sisters help them with their plan to leave but once again, I am unsure. I am guessing this takes place at the beginning of the book, maybe the prologue or first chapter or so.

I would really love help in finding this or something similar to the plot of the book. It would be greatly appreciated. Sorry I don't have much details other then what I have mentioned to go further on.

@ romancebooklover1 - probably not the book you're looking for, but your description made me think about The Countess Bride by Terri Brisbin. The problem is that I only vaguely remember what happened in this book, but the heroine does have to go to the nunnery and the hero does marry her. I'm sorry I'm not much help!

I read this romance book back in the 90's, maybe, or early 2000's. I have very limited information about the book but I welcome any suggestions pertaining to the book.

What I vaguely remember is that the heroin is maybe having an arranged married by her family, I'm assuming for money but I'm unsure. The hero finds out and he and maybe a few of his men go kidnap her. I'm not sure if they kidnap the heroin from a convent or orphanage. I'm assuming while on the run, the hero stops by a nunnery, convent or somewhere and they get married. To make it seem their marriage has been consummated he cuts his forearm and makes blood stains on the bed.

After that I'm not sure what happens. I have read some of the talks in the groups and one of them points out that maybe a brother or relative are after the heroin's money. But once again, I'm so unsure. The only main thing that stayed in my head was that the hero cuts is forearm to make it seem the marriage was consummated. That's all I have.

I'm so sorry I do not have more information about this book. If anyone recalls something similar to this description please let me know. I would like to find this book one day but it may not be possible. Thank You to anyone who helps!

I read this book years ago and I remember a lot about but I can't think of the name of the book or the author heres what I know. It's about this young single mother who lives on a ranch and is raising twins. She is the aunt to these twins. The father or another man somehow related to the twins shows up wanting to take the twins as his own. She does not want to give them up because she can't have children of her own. The man tries to say that raising the twins on a ranch is dangerous and that his home would be better. While this is going on someone is sabotaging the ranch. One of the things they do is relaize a bull on the farm. The woman is driving up with the twins in the car when she notices the bull she gets out and draws the bull a way from the car. The only other thing I remeber near the end of the book the saboteur kidnaps the babies. They go after the kidnapper and the woman gets shot in the stomach. I believe she survives though. That's all i can remember of the book. If anyone can tell me the name I'd greatly appreciate it.

Hello! I am looking for a couple of books that I remember reading 10-20 years ago. The first was a contemporary Phantom of the Opera theme where the heroine's father had a friend who was badly burned in a fire. The h/H meet and fall in love but she is still in High School. They get married when she turns 18-19 but there is trouble in paradise because she wants kids and he doesn't because he thinks he is a monster. It takes her running away for him to realize how much he cares and he is willing to have kids after that. I think the H might have been a member of Secret Service.
The next one is a Regency (?) romance where the h/H knew each other since childhood, but they ended up hating/avoiding each other because they felt annoyed/aggravated when they were in each others company. But one night the h goes to a party in disguise, high heels and exotic perfume. The H/h end up making love in his coach, but he thinks she is some exotic lady and he becomes obsessed with finding her by looking for a tall woman with that perfume. The h manages to hide what happened until she accidently puts on the exotic perfume and the H smells it on her and realizes what happened.
I cannot remember their names or descriptions. Please help!

Hi mamalaz, I had read the description of the malloren book and that's not it. The h/H grew up together and were friends until the H noticed she was a "woman" and they became uncomfortable in each others presence. To the point they were rude to each other when they saw each other as adults. I just remember she went to a party in disguise, she wore high heels and an "exotic" perfume. Sorry I can't remember more.

Ok I have this bok stuck in my head (not because it was great or anything, but because my Nook got wiped out and I like to keep a catalog of what I read and I have about 3-4 reads I can't find)

I read this book in the last year, no longer than 1.5 years because I'm sure I was pregnant at the time and my daughter is now about 10months.

So it starts with this British character, but she lives in the States and she gets fired (i think) because she is interviewing for a job at the beginning of the book. She has JUST found out she is pregnant so must get a job to pay bills. She is not with the father of the baby, he doesn't want to be a father (already has kids and previous ex-wife if I recall) so they break up.

Anyway, she goes to the interview (a secretary job I think) and the boss is very intimidating. He thinks she is sick and is impressed she still shows up (it's actual morning sickness). He hires her even after she puked in his trashcan.

Jump ahead and she starts work and soon after he has to go on a business trip to the islands. He never takes vacations so this will be a working one so he wants her to come. He also doesn't do relationships since his previous one ended (we find out later his wife was killed and he was a suspect which is why he is still so broken). Well they go on this beach vacation/work trip and obviously begin to flirt in between the working. She tells him she's pregnant and he is surprisingly ok with this because he doesn't want a relationship. He confesses she's the first person he has slept with in years (since the dead wife)!

The agree on the plan back to go back to being professional---boss and secretary. This fails because he realizes he wants more. Blah, blah....they end up together, he wants to help raise the baby. She also goes to visit his family with him (Chicago I think) who he hasn't seen since all the police probing and what not.

Random details:
-she wants to name the baby Cecelia I think, which he thinks is ugly
-she has a roommate who also works at this company

Like I said, not memorable but I MUST know what it is....

PS---this group is amazing and I have re-read some good books after going through the list of books above! The Calder Sky was a long forgotten good read.

Hi im trying to find a book I want to read again. I cant remember exact details but a young lady is either waiting for her dad to get her or she is trying to get to him. At the beginning she is working I believe in an inn. When the main male of story enters she attacks him with a broom. The owners daughter in law talks him into taking her back to his ranch as they could not afford to keep her there. He is looking after the ranch alone as his brother wanders a lot. I think his brother comes home eventually to find her asleep in his bed and tries to have his way with her but main man saves her. I think she also gets attacked by a townsman when she is left at the ranch alone. Hopefully that description helps and I didnt get two story lines mixed up together :-D

I can't remember the name or author of this historical romance, but it was probably published in the mid-1990s. The hero is Norwegian or Swedish, and I think the heroine was pregnant when they met. I believe that they married early on in the story, too. Whenever they got into an argument with each other, the hero would storm off after saying, “Jeg elsker deg.” She thought he was swearing at her, but he was actually saying “I love you.” She only learns this after he has it engraved in her wedding band. It's been making me totally nuts, so I'd really appreciate it if someone could remember the name (or even some more details).

So, I'm trying really hard to find a book i read years back. I cant for the life of me remember the title, or even the names of the characters. What I do remember is this:

It's a Historical Romance, i think Regency, but possibly Victorian. The Story starts off with the Hero finding out that, due to good investments, he is no longer in the dire straights that his father's poor management and gambling debts had left him. He's walking home when he is approached by a woman he's known his whole life, and has always wanted. Before he can reveal his happy news (and i think he had already planned to propose), She reveals that she has a plan to marry him, so that he can use her dowry to revitalize his estates and save his family. Not willing to look a gift horse in the mouth, he accepts, and spends the rest of the book hiding how he's actually rich again now so that she will stay with him, not realizing that she had wanted to marry him all along, and was using giving him her dowry as an excuse, as she hadn't thought he was interested.

I think the book had a shiny purple cover, with a cutout of either a carriage or a house, but that could be completley off. Anyway, if anyone knows this book, i really want to find it and read it again.

I remember a hot tub. The sister later showed up and the librarian was released when the captor realized his mistake. But he later went after the librarian and she went back to him. I remember the story was quite steamy. All I remember about the author is that she was a popular contemporary author of the time. I appreciate your help.

the book is about this girl who works in her fathers company (or just a company i dont remember) , but it turns out that the father of her child is now taking over the company (or doing business), only problem is that he didnt know that he had a three year old son and when he goes to the company he finds out because there is like a daycare for the employers kids ..... i vaguely remember that in one of the scenes the kid is in the daycare playing and then he falls and then the father is taking both the kid and the mother in a limo somewhere ...... i really hope someone helps me i've been going crazy trying to remember this book

A man comes back to town after getting an injury maybe, or due to his father dying - they hated each other, a pitcher? And reluctantly has to retire. Inherits a bar in town I think. When he gets back home treated like hero. Then sees his best friend's sister. Before he left town years earlier they'd had a one night stand. She'd not dated anyone since almost become a recluse. Months later had a miscarriage but no one realised it was the big star's baby. Do remember that her brother hit him when he found out.

Its driving me nuts, there's a book I read a couple years ago and I can't recall the title. It was about this shy woman who ends up sleeping with her sister's ex shortly after her sister's funeral. The woman gets pregnant but the guy had left on military orders and she doesn't have the chance to tell him. Later he goes missing and is assumed dead. Fast forward about a year and he shows up on her doorstep. By now the child has been born and he hears it crying in the background when she answers the door, this begins their complicated reunion.

Looking for yet another book. It's a contemporary romance. I am so hating not being able to remember this stuff! LOL

It's a recent release, I think... 2011 or 2012 but probably no later than 5 years ago... but don't depend on that time frame, please! LOL :-P

h is daughter of a Hollywood starlet (an Angelina Jolie type woman) and engaged to the son of a Governor or Senator (pretty sure Governor) but ends up finding her mom and fiance in bed together. It gets caught on camera, too; mom and/or daughter are doing a documentary or reality show. Both mom and daughter is controlled by a publicity-hungry agent who is apparently in-love with Mom and considers h a daughter to him but his hunger for publicity and money is his main love. Daughter "quits" and leaves, moving to, I believe, the east coast; she goes to begin a charity (a Operation Smile or Doctors Without Borders kind of thing) and meets a doctor - the H - who she quickly falls for. H considers her a spoiled heiress and doesn't take her very seriously; H is also in some weird "together but not really" relationship with a fellow doctor (or just a nurse?) and about to propose; it's more of a marriage-of-convenience thing at this point and they are more friends than anything. Soon-to-be fiancee is also in love with another man. His mother is also a senator and has a bad relationship with her since she chose her career over being a wife and mother - which explains his lack of trust in love, marriage, etc. Think mom lived across the hall from h, too, ironically enough! LOL

The remainder of the book is probably the best part of it all in my opinion - gotta love drama! - and why I am dying to read it again: H and h sleep together and H IMMEDIATELY leaves to go propose with the doormat-"girlfriend" who, despite knowing there is no love between them, that he is in love with h AND think she may have also knew he had just banged h (she's that pathetic! LOL) - still says yes. Oi! x_x Soon after, H, h and pathetic-fiancee go to a ball/money-raiser for h's charity. h's mom, publicity-dude, ex-fiance and ex-fiance's dad are all there, too! h finds out that H is engaged... and - so loved this! - kind of calls him out for being so heartless in front of everyone... before going on stage to do an acceptance speech... where she fries h, pathetic-fiancee, et al. SO GOOD!! Still, despite the fact she put the charity on the line with her revelations, she tells people to give the money if they care more about the cause than publicity... and the event was a success and they raked in the dough. Engagement ends and pathetic-chick finally hooks up with her guy... and, of course, H has to do some grovelling and does so after speaking with his mom and finally patching things up with her. Happy ending! Woot!

Hello, new to the group i have a book thats been running circles in my mind for at least a month now.

The book is historical western. The young woman is a red head her father died while gold digging she became the owner of said gold mine. She goes west to continue gold digging falls in love with her esscort slash helper.

Hi there! Hoping to get a bit I help identifying a book I read in the 90's or early 2000's.
It was a historical romance that started in England with the heroine deciding to escape her horrible father for some reason. At the same time the Hero just happens to be planning to abduct the heroine to ransom or get back at her father for some wrong that he did to him. Can't remember exactly how the deal was struck or what he details were, but the hero agrees to help the heroine leave her fathers house and go with him to America, I think as a governess or something to his son who is there. So her gets to kidnap/ransom her without her being the wiser As they get to know each other first on the voyage over, then at his house (it is very early colonial times) which is a large cabin he built himself. The sexual tension builds and he decides to"blow off some steam" at the native village nearby and his crushes the heroine, they fight but the sleep together. From here on in my money gets kind of sketchy. I know that she eventually finds out about his blackmail/ransom of her to her father, she is upset and I think she returns to England. He eventually goes after her and gets her back. I do remember a scene with the Heros son getting very excited about getting a wild turkey for thanksgiving or Christmas dinner that was kinda funny and cute.
Anyways, I am hoping someone can help with a title and author for me... It is driving me crazy trying to remember! Thanks!

I have been going completely crazy looking for this book - I read it quite a few years ago (late 90's I think). It is a time travel historical romance about a woman who wakes up in the past in another woman's body.

That woman is married to an earl (I think) who hates her because she is cruel. I can't remember if she just had a baby but there is a little boy in the story. And the new woman in her body is the total opposite and makes the husband fall in love with her... (It's not Awaken My Love, and not Until Forever...)

Hi, I read this book around 2009 or 2010, I'm not really sure. I can't remember the author or title, this is all I remember:
The main character is a girl around 20 years old, she has blonde hair which is slightly greenish. Her and her family are not safe in the country living in (can't remember why, might be war) so they moving away.
Her father send's her first to make sure she's safe, and then they leave after her, but something goes wrong for her and she is left behind.
A friend of her father comes to her home, they eat and he helps her to get to her family. In order to do the I think they had to get married or pretend to be married, I'm not sure. Then they finally get to her parents.
There this other guy who she supposed to marry or something but she doesn't want to because she ends up falling for the family friend guy. The family friend guy works as a lecturer in uni which she enrols in. She tries to stay away from him in uni. Shes very clever and does well. These this other student in uni, she like the lecturer.
The class are going to go on a trip to the lecturers house or something for a few days. Something happens to the main character there, I think she falls into the water. When she wakes up she ends up at the lecturers house, I think this is when they totally fall for each other, anyway I can't remember properly but they obviously end up together, and in the epilogue she a had a baby.

I'm looking for a historical romance, possibly Regency.

The hero is a secret spy/agent of the Crown. Part of his spy job requires him to pretend a romantic interest in a probable enemy of the state.

The hero tries to hide the fact that he is a spy/agent and that he is engaged in a pretend affair from his new bride by sending her to live in the country, but she returns to London to be part of his life. She inadvertently finds out about his secret identity. She believes he is in danger, so she then decides to secretly help him.

I also remember that the heroine meets an American girl who becomes her friend, and together they work to protect/help the hero. (They are a wee bit like Lucy and Ethel in their efforts.) The heroine's friend has an antagonistic relationship with the hero's good friend/fellow spy...but eventually they admit they are attracted to each other.

I think also that they--the heroine and her friend--discover clues in a bookstore. :)

Sorry for the sketchy details. I get so very frustrated when I can't remember the title/author of a book I've read and the Google isn't helpful! Argh!

I cant remember the title or author. Its set in Scotland and its about a guy who wants to get revenge on his neighbor by kidnapping his neighbors daughter (and his childhood friend) and telling her they will get married by handfasting first. But he is lying and turns her into his lemann (mistress). And to show that she was chaste, he nails the bloodied sheet to the parapet.
At some point she escapes him and hides in a tree but he finds her and throws her over his shoulder but she gets back at him by vomiting on him and she keeps a hold of the bottom of his shirt so when he drops her on the ground, the nasty shirt ends up on his head and face.
He also shows her how the most sensitive place on a woman's body is her mind.
Google couldnt help me since i have no title or author.

Try Risk Everything by Susan Johnson; I know H kidnaps h and eventually tricks h with a handfasting ceremony so he can ruin her by taking her virginity for revenge (he seduces h and then rewords his part so he can end it whenever he wishes), flaunts his psycho betrothed and she attempts to runaway but I cannot remember a puking part. You can also try Beware a Scot's Revenge by Sabrina Jeffries (it's part of her School for Heiresses series) but I haven't read the entire thing so I'm not entirely sure about it...

I am desperately trying to find a book that I read about 10 years ago. Unfortunately for myself I can't remember many details. To start off, it's an older book, romance, skinnier like a Silhouette, possibly. On the cover is a man and woman, I believe they both have dark hair. They are sitting on a beach at night and you can see the moon overhead. Now for the vague details that I can recollect. I believe his name is Armand, or very close to it. He is a doctor. I believe she was raised in a covenant. At one point they are in a cave (I believe it's closer to the beginning of the book). Later on in the book she becomes a nanny for some rich woman's little boy. Turns out the boy's father is Armand(?).

I'm so frustrated!!! I want to find this book so bad. The story goes like this: There was a deformed woman who her entire life wished that she would be beautiful so she could fall in love. Somehow (I don't remember exactly what happened) she became beautiful but it wouldn't last for long. So she was enamored by her lord and fell in love quickly. She didnt want to tell him the truth but in order for her to stay beautiful she had to go on a quest (not sure for what or where but I know it's thru the woods) to become beautiful again. I think in the end she turns ugly in the woods on their way and in order to keep the spell he had to make love to her while she was in her deformed state. It is about a girl that is being courted by a young man and he tells her all these nice stories and makes her think that he is such a nice guy when really he is lazy and all sleeps around. His older brother is tall dark and handsome and there is a scene where she sees him working on a roof with only his pants on and she starts to like him and then when the girl finds out how the younger brother really his, she ends up with the older brother. Oh and the book is set like in the late 1800's. Any ideas? It is a western type.

A woman (I think teacher maybe vet) moves into a small town and soon meets the town outcast who is a native American man (for some reason I feel like his name was Hawk or something but I could be wrong) he has a son who the woman grows close to and is helping. I remember a scene where there is a mountain lion in the man's backyard and the woman can talk to it or sense it's emotions and helps it back to health. Clearly the man and woman fall in love. The trauma of losing the baby causes selective amnesia in the girl and she regresses to a time when she hasn't yet met the guy....

Ok I have had this book stuck in my head for a couple days now and I cannot rememeber the title. It goes something like this;

Lead female role is named either Armina or Rowena and it is based in Texas or some other southern state that borders Mexico. Armina? is a snobbish entitled woman on the outside but on inside she wild and free. She is riding her horse on the range and come across a sexy mexican male name Ral or Rolph? he kidnapps her and falls in love with her. He spirits her away to Mexico and as they are hunted by her family she falls in love with him and comes to realize she would rather be with him.

Anyway, those were some of the best books I've read and although I'm not going to ask for help to figure which all those 200+ books were, I have begun being haunted by the following few books; I'm sorry but I have no recollection of the names of anything related to them :( They are Regency/Historical/Romance. I REALLY hope I can get some help.

1. COVER : the cover of this book is somewhat hazy but quite adamant at being mentioned, I remember trying to draw the lady on the cover -- it was a drawing/painting of a lone lady in a grecian/greek styled dress with gloves up to her elbows.It was blue or green. I remember there was another book by the same author with a similar cover but a different lady on the cover. The drawing of the lady was full figured. ---EDIT---it might not have been a grecian dress, but with small cup sleeves. She was holding a fan too.
STORY/PLOT :I don't remember the beginning, but I think the lady and the guy (he's titled) get married. The lady has a boyish figure because she hasn't "bloomed" yet and the guy's kind of pissed because of something (I have a feeling he used to like her, but didn't want to get married to her, I'm not too sure). I don't remember whether they consummate the marriage or not, but he leaves. She's heart broken, but soon she blooms (as an older mother type figure told her) and she's very clever and everyone's crazy about her. He comes back...I don't remember the rest of it, SORRY! It has a happy ending but it takes a couple of twists/turns. It's a 300 plus a few more pages.
I really really liked this author.

2. I just remember some of the story of this one. STORY/PLOT: this girl's a complete tomboy, and the estate she lives on is complete disrepair. She's filthy, and wears old clothes or something of the like. The guy is titled (durhhh). I remember this part - he rides into town, it's dark, he's drunk (I think) and somehow he 'takes advantage' of the girl on the road/outside.
Later in the book, I remember the girl is being given a bath and you can see red highlights in her hair, it's auburn and they're all amazed...again around 300 paged book.

---NOTE--- for some reason I get the feeling that in either of these books the heroines' names is George or Georgie (I don't remember the full name), or Henry.

3. I remember even less of this one, but I remember that it was Magical as well as Regency/Historical/Romance. STORY/PLOT: I remember one of the main lady's pregnant, and she keeps asking for weird things like newt's tongue/eye because she's magical. Her aunt's a major witch/wizard, there's also a side story about her and some wizard in this book. When the baby's born, she/he's really powerful and levitates stuff. There's something about looted (I can't think of the accurate word) French brandy, and they catch these looters. At least the hero does.

4. STORY/PLOT: this lady's really admired the hero for a loooong time,since she was young, she's really clumsy. She has very curly/long hair. I have a feeling her name's Olivia. She get's this idea to practice kissing on a door knob. They somehow end up on a ship, she almost always gets in an accident and the hero always gets hurt. It's really funny.

LOL, well, that's it for now...I do so hope that I can get some help on this! I've gone over most of the posts here and have made a note of similar sounding plots and their authors and will be going over their books as well. Wish me luck, and good luck to you too!!!!

#550, Isn't your number 2, "Something Wonderful" by Judith McNaught? But the heroine's name was Alex, short for Alexandra.

@Flo_oni, thank you for looking it up! I went and read some reviews but it feels a little off, I remember specifically that the hero ummm takes advantage of the heroine on the road in the beginning of the book. Although, I have read Something Wonderful before, I will read it again just to make sure.

I have been trying to find a book I read a few years ago about a few women who all ended up in the same beach/vacation home and they ended up time traveling (I think). I remember one of the women went to a plantation or something and helped nurse a man back to health and then ended up falling in love with him. Sorry I know this is not much to go off of but if any of you have read it please tell me the title!

Hi - I have been going crazy looking for this book - I read it a while ago. It is a time travel historical romance about a woman who wakes up in the past in another woman's body. That woman is married to an earl (I think) who hates her because she is cruel. I can't remember if she just had a baby but there is a little boy in the story. And the new woman in her body is the total opposite and makes the husband fall in love with her... (It's Not Awaken My Love, Until Forever and not The Second Lady Emily...)

The book I'm thinking of, the woman from present day ends up back in time and the woman from back in time ends up in the others body.

Back in time, the woman is bed ridden and ill for a time. For some reason I think it had to do with having a baby or being pregnant.

Hi all, i'm having trouble remembering a book i read years and years ago, but i can't get it out of my head.
I probably read it in the late 80's early 90's but it could have been older. It was set in probably England and was either medieval or regency? The main female character was some how related to royalty and was being escorted/chaperoned by the main man (he is nobility of some sort as well) to court? i think?. It mentioned her boring grey dresses several times and that she was plain (at least at first). Somewhere along the way the main characters fall in love and get in trouble for it for some reason, and the man is sent off to sea and she stays at court. There is another girl, a "mean girl", who is also interested in the main man and at some point she wears a replica of his ship in her hair. The man eventually returns and i don't recall the ending.

Any help would be very much appreciated! Thank you!

548 Samantha 0909. I think your book is Once a Wolf by Susan Krinard. The h is Rowena and the H is Tomás Alejandro Randall. It takes place in the American West and it crosses into Mexico several times.

overacheiver - I know right? It was hilarious..and ridiculous and i think the main female character tries to cut it out of the mean girls' hair or something.

It's possible i have two books kind of mashed together in my head, but i'm absolutely positive about the ship's replica being in a mean girl's hair. That part stuck with me ;).

I have searched high and low for the name of this romance book.I remember it being some kind of silhoutte or super romance MIRA book when I read it approx 10 years ago.Its a contemporary romance about a rich businessman father who is in his 40's and his son and they meet sisters.the father gets introduced to the elder sister when his son meets and falls for the younger sister and he gets convinced that the sister is not after his son for money.the elder sister might be a writer and she and the father have an affair and later on she is pregnant.there is some sort of a issue with the baby getting kidnapped and they find the baby.I really dont remember much else but the book was good.I hope somebody remembers the title and gets back to me about it. :)

Ok I have had this book stuck in my head for a couple days now and I cannot rememeber the title. It goes something like this;

Lead female role is named either Armina or Rowena and it is based in Texas or some other southern state that borders Mexico. Armina? is a snobbish entitled woman on the outside but on inside she wild and free. She is riding her horse on the range and come across a sexy mexican male name Ral or Rolph? he kidnapps her and falls in love with her. He spirits her away to Mexico and as they are hunted by her family she falls in love with him and comes to realize she would rather be with him.
