Are parts of these safe to read?

I have Cravings and Bite by Laurell K. Hamilton, which have short stories by other authors (Maryjanice Davidson, Eileen Wilks, Rebecca York for Cravings, Charlaine Harris, MaryJanice Davidson, Angela Knight, Vickie Taylor for Bite. & Laurell for both, obviously.)

I've read part of Guilty Pleasures, the first three of the Queen Betsy series (Undead and Unwed, Undead and Unemployed, Undead and Unappreciated) and nothing else by the others. Are any of the stories safe to read having only read that?

In Bite the Laurell K. Hamilton story is IMO the weakest. It's more like something she edited out of a novel rather than a stand alone story. "One Word Answer" fills in some back ground in the Sookie-verse about a Stackhouse cousin. I enjoyed it; it's a little short though. I have not read any of the Queen Betsy series, but the "Biting in Plain Sight" story doesn't require any previous knowledge of the characters. It's not told from Queen Betsy's point of view and does a good job of bringing newcomers up to speed. "Galahad" is the same way. It's classic Angela Knight so if you blush easily you might want to skip that one! ; ). And I enjoyed "Blood Lust" enough to want to see it expanded into a larger story. It's a well written stand alone story.

Re Bite~ Charlaine Harris' story is about part 4.5 in the Sookie series. You don't have to have read the previous books but it certainly helps. And if you do plan on going back and reading the series (and I totally recommend it!), be aware that certain plot details will be given away in the short story.

And I think you're okay reading the Eileen Wilks short story.

In Cravings the Laurell K. Hamilton part is a word for word exerpt from Incubus Dreams- which is Anita book #12, so if you've only read part of Guilty Pleasures then you might not know what's going on.
