For those of us who can't wait for the next Alexander McCall Smith novel, there is relief...
If you go to his UK website www.alexandermccallsmith.co.uk/Pages/Home.aspx and click through to the link to the Daily Telegraph (you'll have to create an account and enable it), the new chapters of his new creation entitled "Corduroy Mansions" will be sent daily via email to your phone or mailbox. The first installment begins on Sept 15.
Happy reading...

I just received Alexander McCall Smith's newsletter, where he also announces this series...and that he is putting a writing hiatus on 44 Scotland St for a while. You can read it on his website, but check his UK site... for the newsletter (not US).
I think I've read somewhere that the idea came from a meeting between AMS and Armistad Maupin (Tales of the City) in San Francisco. Originally, (in the late 70's and early 80's) these stories where also published in serialised form in the SF Chronicle. BTW, I can also highly recommend those...there are a number of books now...and Maupin published a new one last year.

I am impressed that the audio of Corduroy Mansions is also available for free...
