Okay, so I read this book a long time ago, and I don't know exactly when it was published, but I am pretty sure it wasn't in the last 10-15 years. I read it in 9th grade and the copy was old then. At a guess, I would say it was published in the 80's, but I just don't know, so take that with a grain of salt. I don't remember the name or the author, and I was hoping someone here knows at least one.

It takes place in this world, in the present time. The main character is a women who is into music. She is a musician. At the beginning, she gives music lessons to make a living. She hates the fae/sidhe because they tricked her and her lover and she lost him somehow. I am not clear on the details. But I am pretty sure that was way back in the past, in the time of druids and Celts and things. Somehow she survived, because of the encounter with the sidhe, but she wants revenge in a big way. Anyway, she ends up forming a rock group and uses music to fight the sidhe. I don't remember if she got her lover back or not. I guess these days this book would be called Urban Fantasy, but I wasn't aware of the term back than. Thank You!

There's some similarity with War for the Oaks.

It was published in 1987 and the protagonist is a female musician. In the beginning of the book she breaks up with her boyfriend and gets dragged into a war between two groups of fae. Initially she resents the fae from one side but eventually warms to them and the climax involves a sort of battle of the bands duel between her band and the evil fae. I just don't remember anything her and / or her boyfriend in the Celtic age.

Crystal Sage by Kara Dalkey matches portions of that plot too.

Other than the gender of the musician's lover, this actually bears a stronger resemblance to Gossamer Axe by Gael Baudino than to either of the two works previously mentioned.

lorax - omg i think that might be it! i have to check it out a little bit closer but the blurb looks very promising! i don't remember the lesbian angel. odd. but the rest of it sounds the same. i might not have remembered the lesbian lover part right. now that i think about, i remember a scene where she goes to a concert and is blown away by it, because she realizes she rip through sidhe with it. i am going to see if I can find it and see if that scene is in it. Sadly, it seems to be out of print. thank you! *hugs*
