Hi! I run a book-related blog called "Booktastic" (http://booktastic.today.com) and I was just wondering how many of you also have book-related blogs. Please reply to this with a link to your blog if you've got one, as I'd love to check out some other people's reading/writing/library related stuff!

lovemybooks - I had to laugh at your post. I remember when I first discovered this site and someone was mentioning that having a blog was a great way of getting books! however, this person also mentioned that having a blog was ALOT of work! I remember laughing and thinking "how much work can it be?" - I am not laughing quite as loudly now.
You are so right! Having a blog is almost like having a full time job.
However, I figure that I have met so many great people (booklovers, authors. publishers) and I have saved at least $5000.00 in books. So, the investment is worth it.
But, it IS a lot of work.

You're so right. It is a ton of work but also a ton of fun, especially if you are computer challenged like I am. Just trying to learn how to do things takes up so much time. Learning how to do links will be the death of me! It is fun though, to read other blogs and see what people are reading. It has certainly expanded my book wish list, which could now paper the great wall of China!
Anyway, Halluniverse, I am at

My book blog is Rose City Reader. I'm in the Blogger group here on LT, but I didn't know about BooksANDBlogs webring. I have no idea what a webring is. I will go look now.
Although I do get several review copies of new books because of my blog, the focus of Rose City Reader is not new books. As it says on the blog description, I am a "compulsive 'list' reader" and blog about all kind of books, new and old. My focus is on books from "must read" lists like the Modern Library's Top 100 Novels or prize winners like the winners of the National Book Award.
I looks forward to checking out all of your book blogs and hope to see you at mine! Please leave a comment if you stop by.

I like the new look of your blog a lot -- good layout. The organization makes it easier to find stuff and the page is less crowded than before. Good stuff.
But your font is HUGE. If you want it to be that way, that's great. But did you want the Large Print version? It takes a lot of time to scroll through an entry. :)

RE 31: I have no idea why only bookstastic's blog looks big on my computer. Must be a gremlin, but it's the only one that loks big.
I have a book blog question for those who use blogger for their blog: How do I get a list of my reviews to either run along the side or under a different tab? I have my blog archive, but that lists all posts by date. I woul dlike a list of only book reviews, in alphabetical order. I can't figure out how to do this.
I would appreciate any help on this, but I don't want to impose on anyone to write lengthy instructions. A link to a help page or something? Anything?
Apologies for duplication to anyone also a member of the Blogger group, because I am going to cross-post this.

I'm on WP, not blogger, but I maintain a separate page of reviews alpha by author. I have to update it myself, though, I don't know if there's a way to do it automatically.
There also might be a solution by tagging "A authors", "B authors", etc. You might try going to a blog where you've seen the sort of thing you're after and leave a comment for the blog owner asking how they did it.

Yes -- every time I see a blog that has a separate page for reviews, I think, "Oh, yeah! That's what I want" then forget to leave a comment with my question. Sometimes I have the concentration of a gnat. ;-)
45Kasthu
41, and 42: I don't think there's a specific function for that, but I've done two things: 1) I tag all reviews as "reviews;" my list of tags appears on the side bar of the blog. The second thing I did was a little more time-consuming (and anal, really). I created a second blog with 24 entries, one for each letter of the alphabet and X-Z. Then I alphabetized all my reviews by author's last name and then liked to the specific review. Then, on the sidebar of the main blog, I have links to each of the review pages. It took me about an hour to complete. But that's just me. Check it out for yourself:

Wow! That is a lot of work, to creat a completely separate blog. But it makes sense because you have so many reviews.
I just created a link list that runs along the right side of my blog that lists my reviews (alpha order by title). They link to the review posts on my blog. But if the list gets too long, I'll have to figure out something more fancy, like Kasthu's extra blog.

I'd have to agree with #68 - I can't say my blog is the best book blog out there, but I to try make it more than just a review blog. I can't wait until spring so I can blog more on going to book sales (and some used and rare bookstores), winter is reading time...

I always seem to be thinking of great ways to improve and expand my blog - it is just the implementation of those ideas that keep getting put off somehow. Guess that’s not necessarily a bad thing though as I always have new and fresh things on the horizon :)

I love to read and write and so when I discovered I could write reviews, I went crazy with it and have done really well. Then I thought a blog must be next. I SEE WHAT YOU ALL MEAN! It is SO time consuming and I work full time currently as a reading teacher! I started my blog a week ago and I must say, although what I have done so far is something I am proud of, (for me) I have to say I KNOW NOTHING about what I am doing...so much I don't know! From putting in pictures, copy and paste URLs correctly, grab butttons (?), etc...but I do have some reviews and writing of my own thoughts as well as a contest so am trying to now balance my time so I can read, review, and keep up with it. I visited many of the blogs listed here and hope some of you will visit mine....if nothing else to try for the contest to win a signed copy of CREEPERS! as it ends next Friday night!...and thank you, will be checking back! I don't have a book blog per se, but I do review paranormal non-fiction books on my website, Theresa's Haunted History of the Tri-State. It can be found here:

I haven't gotten to review too many books, but one of the authors, Leslie Rule, DID sign my guestbook!

I feel a little too self-aware posting this here, but at the beginning of the year I started a site to track my progress on a goal I've set for myself: not to buy a single book this year in hopes of getting rid of the mountain of books that I haven't read. The stack is sitting in my bedroom and threatening to take over the place, so I figured I'd better do something about it. Then my idea kind of morphed a bit, and the result is this: http://www.outsideadog.com/ .

Holy cow! I hadn't been back to Librarything much since my last post on here, assuming the run of new blog offerings was mostly over... Boy, was I wrong! I've gone back and added the twenty-something (!!) blogs that have been added since last post to my blogroll. If you posted on here, at least one of your blogs should have a link on my site! Check it out: if you aren't on there, or if I've listed you more than once by accident, please let me know...! -- Mrs. Hall

Re: #80 - Lady Gata, I enjoyed your blog. You are not, by any chance, the Gata from the Benson chat group?

P.S. To everyone: I just wanted to add that I couldn't help but notice the one thing that all these different and varied book blogs have in common - they all have creative names!

I've just posted my first ever author interview on my blog, inspired by the blogs on the blogring etc!
An interview with Linda Gillard, author of three great published books including Star Gazing, shortlisted for the Romantic Novelists' Association Romantic Novel of the Year: http://lyzzybee.livejournal.com/353618.html
And Linda interviews me! http://lyzzybee.livejournal.com/353833.html
Coming soon will be an interview with Catherine O'Flynn, author of Costa-prize winning What Was Lost

Plugging my mom's blog:
http://whattoreadtochildren.blogspot.com/
She posts monthly, listing books for various ages that are good to read to your kids. She's a firm believer that you should be reading aloud to children from a very early age, and that it should continue until the kids start running off with the books to finish them on their own, because they just can't wait for the end. :) (Not that I /EVER/ did that. >.>)

You are very fortunate to have had a mom who read to you. I just checked out her blog and she has a lot of interesting things to say.
If you have an interest in children's books, I just posted a review of Little Skink's Tail by Janet Halfmann. Absolutely adorable and educational at the same time.

I don't read many children's books, unless you include YA in that grouping. :)
And yes, I am VERY lucky to have such a wonderful mother. She's always been an inspiration, along with my father. Even if he does think the genres we read are 'weird'. (He's into history, biographies, westerns, and mysteries. Me and my mom are into fantasy and scifi.)
Also, if you're interested, click through to her other blog in her profile. She's a secondary ed teacher, and just started a blog where she talked some about her views on education. It'll be a more general purpose blog, but might still interest people here.

Hey folks! Just an update. After finally getting all of you added to my blog list on booktastic.today.com... I'm moving! Yes, I finally got tired of Today.com - I didn't like the new "universal" format for the page, or the fact that despite being a "paying" blog they more or less made it impossible for me to ever get paid...
So, I'm moving! Booktastic no longer (it was already taken) - I am now Book Sandwich. -- Mrs. Hall

P.S. Oh, I forgot to mention... Anybody who was on my blog list before will be getting moved to my blog list now! I've transferred half the list to my new blog site and will be transferring the rest soon.

I started a blog this year, as part of my promise to myself to review more. The content is the same as what I post in my LT and in "75 in 2009," but I like keeping it in a separate place.

Wow so many blogs. I have a blog at blogger.com. I can't get to it right now but I will post it later. I didn't realize that there were so many different places to have blogs.
Okay here is the address:
http://bookandmoviechat.blogspot.com/
I really have to post a lot of my reviews on there. I have been trying to keep up with it but I don't have that much time. I don't know how you guys are getting books from doing the blog, I love seeing all the reviews on the blogs.

I'm also trying to use a blog to prompt my writing of reviews. Mine is called "Sketches Among the Ruins of My Mind"
http://sketchesamongtheruins.blogspot.com/
I tend to spend most of my time reading nonfiction with a current heavy emphasis on WWII Russia.
It does contain a few other items as well. Not too many reviews right now, but there are several drafts in process. I hope to write more in the future.
