Polly started the first thread
with a plaintive call;
Suge started it rhyming
and we all had a ball.

Compski started the second thread
when the first got too slow;
This doggerel starts a third one,
and it's ready to go!

2pollysmith
Dec 11, 2008, 7:07 pm

so don't be slow!

3foggidawn
Dec 11, 2008, 7:22 pm

I'll bet this thread will quickly grow!

4pollysmith
Dec 11, 2008, 7:25 pm

as fast as Santa says ho ho ho!

5compskibook
Dec 11, 2008, 8:07 pm

Clever MrA, if I do say so.

6jugglingpaynes
Dec 11, 2008, 8:52 pm

He's quite the Seuss, don't you know!

7MrAndrew
Dec 11, 2008, 9:41 pm

I do like to rhyme,
I like it on a climb,
I even like it on slime.

8MsDonna
Edited: Dec 11, 2008, 9:53 pm

I don't mind that you rhyme, as long as you're home on time.

9kirbyowns
Dec 11, 2008, 9:55 pm

I'm very impressed that MrA's rhyming is sublime.

10Renald128
Dec 11, 2008, 10:02 pm

It is so fine,
I can hear the bells chime

11MrAndrew
Dec 11, 2008, 10:17 pm

It's so bad that it's almost a crime.

12jugglingpaynes
Dec 11, 2008, 10:20 pm

Have a coconut with a little lime. :o)

13ellevee
Dec 11, 2008, 10:45 pm

Just make sure to clean off the grime.

14MsDonna
Dec 12, 2008, 5:32 am

And we're back to time.

15hemlokgang
Dec 12, 2008, 8:42 am

I feel like trying a bit of pantomime.

16suge
Dec 12, 2008, 9:59 am

But how oh, how, did he come up with that name of mine in his excellent rhyme?

17hemlokgang
Dec 12, 2008, 10:53 am

It came to him while he was seasoning with thyme.

18suge
Dec 12, 2008, 10:59 am

like in that movie with Amanda bynes

19jugglingpaynes
Dec 12, 2008, 1:33 pm

Is that the movie where she whines?

20suge
Dec 12, 2008, 2:35 pm

No I think she mostly pines.

21hemlokgang
Dec 12, 2008, 4:18 pm

I think she also uses a fork with tines.

22jugglingpaynes
Dec 12, 2008, 6:00 pm

As long as she doesn't forget her lines.

23pollysmith
Dec 12, 2008, 6:02 pm

do you see any signs?

24MrAndrew
Dec 13, 2008, 12:21 am

>#16: Post 29:

No, Compski, nothing will induce them into clothes. It's like the Emperor's New Clothes in reverse. Its so perverse. They wont reverse, no matter how long I converse.

You can run, but you can't hide.

25hemlokgang
Dec 13, 2008, 6:27 am

As long as you keep your eyes on the rising tide.

26compskibook
Dec 13, 2008, 5:05 pm

If I could only choose with whom to side.

27hemlokgang
Dec 13, 2008, 5:37 pm

Try not to get up in your pride.

28Renald128
Dec 14, 2008, 12:35 am

Because that's just not right

29pollysmith
Dec 14, 2008, 7:59 am

neither is it day or night

30jugglingpaynes
Dec 14, 2008, 1:35 pm

I'm trying to keep it light.

31hemlokgang
Dec 14, 2008, 4:56 pm

Keep trying with all your might.

32compskibook
Dec 14, 2008, 5:11 pm

and then you realize this is the best web site!

33jugglingpaynes
Dec 14, 2008, 7:52 pm

It's because we are so sweet and polite!

34MrAndrew
Dec 14, 2008, 7:59 pm

And we don't talk a lot of shite.

Because we never fight!

35pollysmith
Dec 14, 2008, 9:37 pm

to my delight!

36suge
Dec 15, 2008, 9:38 am

#24--> For a second I thought you had the give of fore sight!

37hemlokgang
Dec 15, 2008, 12:26 pm

That kind of thing gives me a bit of a fright.

38jugglingpaynes
Dec 15, 2008, 6:10 pm

Since lefty is a left handed magician, does she do hand-of-sleight?

39LadyN
Dec 16, 2008, 8:01 am

#38 - Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha etc....

Our friends down in australia might...

40elbakerone
Dec 16, 2008, 12:15 pm

Everyone here seems cheery and bright
the only time I can recall a fight
was differing opinions over......The Book ;)

41suge
Dec 16, 2008, 1:19 pm

Yes, I almost gave lg a right hook!

42Renald128
Dec 16, 2008, 3:43 pm

I know! I'm not a fan I just gave it a quick look

43pollysmith
Dec 16, 2008, 3:52 pm

and was it worth the time it took?

44Renald128
Dec 16, 2008, 4:03 pm

I thought it was just o.k. and I have to go coz I have something to cook

45elbakerone
Dec 16, 2008, 4:42 pm

If it's blackbird pie, you could use a rook.

46hemlokgang
Dec 16, 2008, 5:34 pm

Here at my house we are weathering a chinook

47jugglingpaynes
Dec 16, 2008, 6:50 pm

I want a little reading nook.

48hemlokgang
Dec 16, 2008, 9:26 pm

Perfect if one can hear a babbling brook.

49elbakerone
Dec 17, 2008, 5:40 pm

Speaking of babbling, our gov' in Illinois is a crook!

50jugglingpaynes
Dec 17, 2008, 6:30 pm

Then it must be time to give him the hook!

51MsDonna
Dec 18, 2008, 4:00 am

Or perhaps a book.

52pollysmith
Dec 18, 2008, 6:44 am

or a bookhook.....

53hemlokgang
Dec 18, 2008, 1:40 pm

or put him over the fire and let him cook.......

54jugglingpaynes
Dec 18, 2008, 2:43 pm

That sounds a bit...icky.

55foggidawn
Dec 18, 2008, 2:55 pm

Not to mention that doing it might prove tricky.

56elbakerone
Dec 18, 2008, 4:01 pm

As long as we get rid of him, I'm not too picky. ;)

57suge
Dec 18, 2008, 4:56 pm

All this canavolism is making me sickie.

58jugglingpaynes
Dec 18, 2008, 5:37 pm

I think suge is a bit finicky

59hemlokgang
Dec 19, 2008, 9:31 am

Going to take a leap of faith..........give a new one a try.

60kirbyowns
Dec 19, 2008, 9:54 am

Why?

61hemlokgang
Dec 19, 2008, 11:15 am

'Cuz the previous one was running dry

62ellevee
Dec 19, 2008, 11:19 am

And we need something to make time fly.

63compskibook
Dec 19, 2008, 2:08 pm

We will have to switch again, by and by.

64Marensr
Dec 19, 2008, 2:10 pm

More rhyming? Sigh.

65jugglingpaynes
Dec 19, 2008, 3:54 pm

Your rhyming mileage will vary. Supplies are limited. Check the manufacturer's warranty to make sure poetic discounts apply.

66Marensr
Dec 19, 2008, 4:50 pm

I think JP has gone (brilliantly) awry!

67hemlokgang
Dec 19, 2008, 10:01 pm

That I cannot deny!

68Renald128
Dec 20, 2008, 12:03 am

That's because you can't lie...

69MellieT
Dec 20, 2008, 12:10 am

oh they can lie, but they are never shy

70jugglingpaynes
Dec 20, 2008, 12:30 am

#66-67 you make me smi-- :o)

71MrAndrew
Dec 20, 2008, 12:40 am

I don't want a pickle,
I just want to ride my motorsickle
And I, don't wanna die,
I just wanna ride my motorcy
...
...
...
...
...

(cle.)

72Marensr
Dec 20, 2008, 1:14 am

Hmm the "cle" seems to have cause a lull.

73MellieT
Dec 20, 2008, 1:55 am

oh I hope this doesn't get dull!

74Kerian
Dec 20, 2008, 2:11 am

No more than waiting at a bridge toll. ;)

75MsDonna
Dec 20, 2008, 3:40 am

Or dancing with a troll.

76pollysmith
Dec 20, 2008, 7:38 am

or taking a stroll

77ellevee
Dec 20, 2008, 8:03 am

Let's take a poll!

78pollysmith
Dec 20, 2008, 8:04 am

how very droll

79hemlokgang
Dec 20, 2008, 9:55 am

I chuckle as I sit on a knoll.

80Renald128
Dec 20, 2008, 11:31 am

I think that is just how you roll

81Marensr
Dec 20, 2008, 11:39 am

We're very droll.

82hemlokgang
Dec 20, 2008, 12:50 pm

My lunch today is full of escarole.

83jugglingpaynes
Dec 20, 2008, 12:53 pm

I think I'll post some rigmarole.

84hemlokgang
Dec 20, 2008, 2:59 pm

Did you ever see that cute fellow, Anatole?

85Always_Reading
Dec 20, 2008, 3:01 pm

What? Who's he?
This Anatole?

86Renald128
Dec 20, 2008, 5:38 pm

I think he has a mole
On his nose...

87Always_Reading
Dec 20, 2008, 6:08 pm

As big,
as a giant rose...

88Renald128
Dec 20, 2008, 6:46 pm

I haven't seen one of those

89hemlokgang
Dec 20, 2008, 8:38 pm

Maybe we could get him to pose

90funnyshy
Dec 20, 2008, 8:40 pm

And dance on that rose!

91compskibook
Dec 20, 2008, 9:01 pm

What kind of clothes?

92jugglingpaynes
Dec 20, 2008, 9:17 pm

A gown that flows!

93pollysmith
Dec 21, 2008, 9:25 am

with satin bows

94Espeon200
Dec 21, 2008, 9:46 am

It's too early! I wish I could doze...

95hemlokgang
Dec 21, 2008, 10:38 am

I wish someone would massage my toes....

96elbakerone
Dec 23, 2008, 5:09 pm

I too could use a massage for my feet.
That would be quite the relaxing treat!

97pollysmith
Dec 23, 2008, 5:13 pm

a foot massage cannot be beat

98Marensr
Dec 23, 2008, 5:34 pm

as long as there is lots of heat

99hemlokgang
Dec 23, 2008, 6:22 pm

they are so sore after being stomped by a cleat!

100jugglingpaynes
Dec 23, 2008, 7:46 pm

Which happened while running at a local track meet.

101Always_Reading
Dec 23, 2008, 7:58 pm

I should have just taken a seat

102hemlokgang
Dec 23, 2008, 8:09 pm

But it was so exciting, the runners so fleet

103Always_Reading
Dec 23, 2008, 8:09 pm

And the air smelling so sweet

104MrsGrinch
Dec 23, 2008, 8:10 pm

I think I will order some meat.

105Always_Reading
Dec 23, 2008, 8:11 pm

Then, stomping hard on my two blistered feet

106jugglingpaynes
Dec 23, 2008, 8:21 pm

...I kick the foot stomper because he's such a cheat!

107Renald128
Dec 23, 2008, 8:24 pm

And break both of his front teeth!!!

108jugglingpaynes
Dec 23, 2008, 8:58 pm

And now I must hang my Christmas wreath.

109foggidawn
Dec 23, 2008, 9:04 pm

Maybe add some jingle bells beneath.

110Renald128
Dec 23, 2008, 9:55 pm

and the mistletoe is over there, would you like us to meet underneath??

111Marensr
Dec 24, 2008, 12:18 pm

Be sure you've cleaned your teeth.

112compskibook
Dec 24, 2008, 12:23 pm

Especially if it is a kiss you wish to bequeath.

113suge
Dec 24, 2008, 12:25 pm

dont worry just breathe.

114hemlokgang
Dec 24, 2008, 8:17 pm

I won't worry, but I might seethe.

115MrAndrew
Dec 25, 2008, 5:07 am

or heave.

116pollysmith
Dec 25, 2008, 8:17 am

if you believe

117foggidawn
Dec 25, 2008, 8:27 am

So, what gifts did everyone receive?

118hemlokgang
Dec 25, 2008, 11:47 am

the answer is too tough to conceive

119pollysmith
Dec 25, 2008, 4:44 pm

I got my new cookpots, I'm so relieved

120hemlokgang
Dec 25, 2008, 9:47 pm

Can the old ones be retrieved?

121suge
Dec 26, 2008, 8:44 am

not in what I can perceive

122hemlokgang
Dec 26, 2008, 11:12 am

That is just not to be believed

123Espeon200
Dec 26, 2008, 11:16 am

Who, by that, will be deceived?

124hemlokgang
Dec 26, 2008, 11:22 am

I hope from that they obtain a reprieve

125jugglingpaynes
Dec 26, 2008, 2:33 pm

Or I will be most aggrieved.

126pollysmith
Dec 26, 2008, 7:46 pm

I'm so tired i'm off to bed

127compskibook
Dec 26, 2008, 8:08 pm

Are you thinking with that enough has been said?

128jugglingpaynes
Dec 26, 2008, 8:15 pm

The way we talk? You've been misled!

129foggidawn
Dec 26, 2008, 8:34 pm

Harry Potter reference needed: George and Fred.

130hemlokgang
Dec 26, 2008, 9:03 pm

That Weasley family must be fed!

131kirbyowns
Dec 26, 2008, 11:50 pm

Can Mrs. Weasley whip up some bread?

132Espeon200
Dec 26, 2008, 11:59 pm

Why were none of the Weasley boys named Ted?

133biblioholic29
Dec 27, 2008, 12:02 am

The Tonks got that name instead

134Espeon200
Dec 27, 2008, 12:06 am

Did JKR kill off all her characters whose names rhyme with "ed"?

135MrAndrew
Dec 27, 2008, 12:10 am

It does appear that they are dead.

136foggidawn
Dec 27, 2008, 12:37 am

And there was Nick, who (nearly) lost his head. . . .

137Renald128
Dec 27, 2008, 12:59 am

How come Hermione hasn't been mentioned in this thread?

138Espeon200
Dec 27, 2008, 8:54 am

I don't know, but I think Ron should have been mentioned instead.

139jugglingpaynes
Dec 27, 2008, 9:59 am

Ron was a Weasley with hair of red

140hemlokgang
Dec 27, 2008, 4:14 pm

From evil creatures Ron never fled

141foggidawn
Dec 27, 2008, 4:19 pm

Spiders were one thing he did dread.

142jugglingpaynes
Dec 27, 2008, 4:27 pm

He did like butterflies, or so he said...

143Renald128
Edited: Dec 27, 2008, 4:54 pm

But he didn't think Aragog was that great.

144pollysmith
Dec 27, 2008, 7:05 pm

he didn't like being spider bait

145hemlokgang
Dec 27, 2008, 9:15 pm

He didn't see that as part of his fate...

146Espeon200
Dec 27, 2008, 9:16 pm

When he sees spiders coming, he's the first one out of the gate.

147hemlokgang
Dec 27, 2008, 9:19 pm

And at the same time, he wishes he could elevate...

148Always_Reading
Dec 27, 2008, 10:33 pm

The host of spiders down in Hagrid's crate...

149jugglingpaynes
Dec 27, 2008, 11:14 pm

If it's time for potions class, he better not be late!

150MsDonna
Dec 28, 2008, 12:20 am

Or Snape will make him evaporate.

151Renald128
Dec 28, 2008, 8:39 am

Weren't Harry and Cho once in a horrible date?

152pollysmith
Dec 28, 2008, 8:56 am

yes, their romance was not meant to be

153jugglingpaynes
Dec 28, 2008, 12:02 pm

Which worked out well for Ginny Weasley.

154hemlokgang
Dec 28, 2008, 4:27 pm

Thank goodness, no one was measley.

155MrAndrew

156Espeon200
Dec 28, 2008, 10:27 pm

They were all the bee's knees!

157MsDonna
Dec 28, 2008, 10:50 pm

That's what happens when you hang off trees.

158jugglingpaynes
Dec 28, 2008, 10:53 pm

I thought you get fleas.

159Renald128
Dec 28, 2008, 11:13 pm

Well I haven't gotten those at least.

160MsDonna
Dec 29, 2008, 7:11 am

On blood they feast.

161hemlokgang
Dec 29, 2008, 7:31 am

I thought it was yeast.

162pollysmith
Dec 29, 2008, 9:41 am

I hate those little beast(s)

163jugglingpaynes
Jan 7, 2009, 12:14 am

An end to our rhyme
Would be a great crime
So I think it is time...

164MsDonna
Jan 7, 2009, 12:17 am

for Ms Donna to chime

165Kerian
Jan 7, 2009, 6:13 pm

And for us to each have a lime

166Kerian
Jan 7, 2009, 6:14 pm

at a cost of just a dime

167jugglingpaynes
Jan 7, 2009, 7:05 pm

which is cheaper than slime

or so I've heard. :o)

168Kerian
Jan 7, 2009, 9:33 pm

That sounds most absurd.

169Espeon200
Jan 8, 2009, 1:54 am

Who told you, a little bird?

170pollysmith
Jan 8, 2009, 4:48 am

oh don't be a nerd

171MrAndrew
Jan 8, 2009, 6:59 am

and don't be a-furred.

172MsDonna
Jan 8, 2009, 8:24 am

Who Purred?

173foggidawn
Jan 8, 2009, 9:07 am

I'm not sure -- it's all blurred.

174jugglingpaynes
Jan 8, 2009, 11:22 am

What has occurred?

175Renald128
Jan 8, 2009, 11:27 am

Haven't you heard?

176kirbyowns
Jan 8, 2009, 11:32 am

Heard what?

177suge
Jan 8, 2009, 11:35 am

that the block is hot.

178jugglingpaynes
Jan 8, 2009, 11:39 am

No it's not!

179Renald128
Jan 8, 2009, 11:50 am

suge says that a lot

180hemlokgang
Jan 8, 2009, 11:50 am

Let's give it a shot.

181suge
Jan 8, 2009, 12:34 pm

No way Renny. I'm just napping in my cot.

182Renald128
Jan 8, 2009, 12:38 pm

And you like to end your sentences with a dot

183suge
Jan 8, 2009, 12:43 pm

look at the kettle calling me a pot.

184foggidawn
Jan 8, 2009, 12:47 pm

Will too much time on LT cause my brain to rot?

185Renald128
Jan 8, 2009, 12:50 pm

If you pay too much attention to us then your brain will twist into a knot...

186suge
Jan 8, 2009, 12:51 pm

no no no that's why we have the tequilla, take a shot.

187foggidawn
Jan 8, 2009, 1:31 pm

I'm at work still, so maybe some tea -- just a spot.

188suge
Jan 8, 2009, 1:45 pm

with a little tequila brewed in your pot?

189jugglingpaynes
Jan 8, 2009, 2:21 pm

You seem to like pot a lot!

190suge
Jan 8, 2009, 2:22 pm

whoa! that's my sister, she's the one who lights the incense till its hot.

191jugglingpaynes
Jan 8, 2009, 2:44 pm

I sense a thickening in the plot...

192hemlokgang
Jan 8, 2009, 5:47 pm

Really?... (dot, dot, dot)

193MsDonna
Jan 8, 2009, 5:48 pm

What were we talking about? I forgot.

194Kerian
Jan 8, 2009, 6:33 pm

Someone said some guy was hot,
And then talked about tea a lot.

195jugglingpaynes
Jan 8, 2009, 7:02 pm

But since we are clumsy, the hot pot went splot.

196MrAndrew
Jan 8, 2009, 7:07 pm

That's spooky, my post was going to end in splot too... in my mind, i hope you're not.

197jugglingpaynes
Jan 8, 2009, 7:13 pm

The cat in my window is playing with a bug.

And I drank tea in a mug

One of my mugs

Tomorrow's my day off -- I'm going to lie around like a slug.

Why not soak in the tub, unless you lost the plug.

205hemlokgang
Jan 8, 2009, 9:23 pm

I hope in tub, that I won't go "glug, glug".

Jan 9, 2009, 4:25 pm

To rescue you, we'll need a pug.

207MrAndrew
Jan 9, 2009, 4:34 pm

i would need a tug.

208hemlokgang
Jan 9, 2009, 4:35 pm

Once saved, shake it off with a shrug.

209MsDonna
Jan 9, 2009, 4:40 pm

Run if it's this pug.

210Kerian
Jan 10, 2009, 12:35 am

Do we run for fear of it wanting to play tug?
Or do we pick it up and give it a hug?

211Espeon200
Jan 10, 2009, 2:29 pm

I think its name is Doug.
Unless it is a female...

212jugglingpaynes
Jan 10, 2009, 2:51 pm

Which means her name is Gail.

You might have to follow it around with a shovel and pail.

Jan 10, 2009, 3:13 pm

I like his/her alligator tail

215Kerian
Jan 10, 2009, 3:20 pm

Too bad it's not a cat. It could sit on top of the curtains to be a monorail.

216hemlokgang
Jan 10, 2009, 3:38 pm

I must say that neither the alligator nor the pug looked too frail.

217jugglingpaynes
Jan 10, 2009, 3:49 pm

We won't know unless we put it on a scale.

218Renald128

Did I mention that I'm reading The Thirteenth Tale?

I love my pug but she hates to go out

222kirbyowns

Till we go in

224kirbyowns

226foggidawn

My sister-in-law's corgi causes some strife

229Renald128
Jan 11, 2009, 1:01 am

does she have a knife?

230hemlokgang
Jan 11, 2009, 12:32 pm

No, but I bet she'd be cute with a fife.

Espy wants to get a corgi someday, and so does his wife.

232jugglingpaynes
Jan 11, 2009, 1:29 pm

The corgi I know tries to play with porcupines, which, in that area, are rife.

233hemlokgang

Corgis are little whirlwinds who they they are enormous,
And the burden of bossiness causes some strife.
