I was trying to start a new challenge for this year, so I'll start by saying that I'm reading Love In The Time Of Cholera and The Thirteenth Tale and I will update this thread as soon as I finish them...Let's just hope I can find the time to complete and exceed my 40 book challenge :D

Ok I finished my first 2009 book, which is Love In The Time Of Cholera, I only awarded 4.5 stars because from Gabriel García Marquez's books (like I have read many: only 2) I still prefer One Hundred Years Of Solitude but it still is a beautiful book and the bottom message of the book is that Love is and will always be timeless: what more beautiful message could you find in a love story? My mother tongue is spanish and this is one of the many books from this author that is considered classic latin-american literature and I recommend it to everyone who is a romantic at heart and loves romance novels (without them being cheesy), you will really enjoy it...

If you liked Confessions of a Shopaholic, definitely check out the others in that series - the first one was my favorite, but the others are also plenty of fun!

# 9 Wasn't Marley and Me fun to read? The book was suggested to me by a LT member. It turned out I liked it more than I thought I did.

#10 I see that so many people have read The Book Thief in LT and now your are recommending it. Maybe I should think about putting it on my wish list.

Just reread Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone because I wanted some comfort reading and I always like to do a whole reread of the series before the movie comes out....and I loved it all over again and it reminded me of why I love reading and took me out of a little reading stump I was in.

Books read: 9

P.S. I know I shouldn't count rereads but to be fair I will try to read new books for the challenge and surpass the 40 book challenge

I count rereads. Sometimes you learn something new from a reread. :)

Hi, Ron! Nice progress. I agree with billiejean. Rereads can always teach you something new from your previous reading, and sometimes we just need a comfort read. Hope you're feeling well!

I think the new Harry Potter movie is coming out soon. Do you like the movies? I did everything backwards. I have seen the movies, but I have not read the books. My girls are working on me to read them, though. Have a great day!

I haven't read or seen the movies of any of Harry Potter...now that is sad. Everyone has been telling me that they are good. Must you read them in order. I sometimes come across a used Happy Potter book and don't know where it is in the series and am reluctant to buy it.

I have only read a book twice once. I can't help but feel I am wasting my time. I can't get over it. There are about a million books I want to read before I die. Maybe after I have read the million I might go back and read one of those million again.

Keep up the good reading Renald128

#23: Yes! The new Harry Potter Movie is coming out on July 15th and I can't wait! and I love the movies my favorite ones are the third one (which is a great adaptation although not completely faithful to the book) and the fifth one (also a great adaptation and more faithful to the book than the third movie). I highly recommend that you read the books BJ. thanks for posting in the thread :D and you have a nice day too!

#24: Yes jacx the books are great and amazing, although the books (from 1 to 4 )can be understood alone it is better to follow the story in order. Here is the order just in case you should ever read them:

#1 Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (you can also find it under the title of Philosopher's Stone)
#2 Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
#3 Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
#4 Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
#5 Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
#6 Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
#7 Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

And I understand what you mean about feeling you are wasting some of the time rereading a book, but my motto is that life is too short and if I really enjoyed the book once why not enjoy it more times :D. And actually before the reread of the series I was in a reading slump and reading the first book (which is the only reason I started reading in the first place) took me out of my slump and made me remember why I love reading so much. Thanks for posting and keep up the good reading, too! and as I said to Billiejean I highly recommend these books!

Just Finished The Uncommon Reader and it was really nice, it is a short book but very well written and interesting.
