Hey Guys,

I'm one of the slowest readers in the world so I wanted to challenge myself this year to finish at least a book a month and thought, what the heck, let's make it one a week.

So here we go...

1. Good Omens
2.Siddartha
3. zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance
(to be honest- i started this a little under a year ago and never finished. Since i am such a slow reader, i figured i'd modify the challenge to be "finish 50 books this year". This is NOT light reading.)
4. hitchhikers guide to the galaxy
I now understand the love for Douglas Adams. He was amazing.
5. the devil wears prada I feel gross for admitting that I read reading chick lit, but I needed something light and fun (even if I do feel dumber for reading it) to put between some of these if I even hope to make it past 30 books.
6. contact
7. apartment therapy: 8 week cure
Self help for the clutter challenged. It's a pretty awesome book and strategy. I'm very happy this landed in my virtual lap.
8. infinite jest
I'm doing the infinite summer project. I think I'm a masochist. Or at least someone who likes starting too many projects at once. Still reading...It's blowing my mind. I've never loved and hated a book so much at the same time.

Pride and Prejudice I never read any Austen in high school. I chose the darker Charlotte Bronte (Jane Eyre) since I thought Jane Austen sounded like old English chick lit. Maybe it is, but it's smart too.
(I stopped reading this so it'll hang out at the bottom of the list until I pick it up again)

My daughter has been wanting me to read that book forever. What did you think of it?

Welcome to the 50 book challenge. I haven't been here long either. I thought I was a fast reader until I joined LT. So many people here knock down 75, 100 and more books a year. A book a week has always been about my speed. Look forward to reading your thread.

I thought it was very funny and clever. It reminded me of Tom Robbins in places, but less serious, more playful. It was written by two writers, but I didn't notice so much. The person who lent it to me has read the works of both authors and she said she can tell when they switch.

I don't think it's a literary masterpiece, but it was a good story and it made me laugh out loud more than once.

I haven't written about/critiqued books since high school (I got a BS in engineering), so I apologize if this falls short of what you were looking for.

I do hope you read it though. It'll be worth your while.

Thanks for the info. It was just what I was looking for. :)

By the way, I also have Siddhartha on my TBR!
