Hi! I'm going to make this my third challenge for 2009- I am also doing the Paranormal 999 Challenge & 75 Books challenge. I will have lots of over lap into the broad challenge- 75 books but decided to add this to force myself into more expanded reading as well.
So far I think I have the following categories decided:
1. Cormac McCarthy
2. L. Frank Baum
3. Science Fiction
4. Terry Pratchett
5. Roald Dahl
6. Apocalyptic/Post-Apocalyptic
7. Classics
8. Graphic Novels
9. Chick Lit

I don't know if I will finish by 9/9/09 though lol

I really enjoyed McCarthy's The Road. Very sparse in terms of writing style, but very powerful, in my mind.

I like that you have a Apocalyptic/Post-Apocalyptic category. I was toying with having a similar category, so I will definitely be interested in seeing what you put up here. I was looking for some good fiction books to read in that category.

I have also read The Road by Cormac McCarthy and thought it was really good. I am going to now read a few of his others.

Will be keeping watch to see what you think of his other books.

#3 I will be starting I believe with Wastelands which is collected short stories. I think I may re-read The Stand again. Otherwise I have a bit of digging to do (but I enjoy researching to find stories for my categories). I am not opposed to zombie apocalypse though which I should warn you just in case that's not your cup of tea.
#3 & 4 I finished The Road this weekend actually and I was blown away by it. I really enjoyed his writing style; it was sparse but very evocative and I agree about the powerful effect of the book. My experience with that book makes me eager to read all o fhis other works- the summaries of the books actually all sound pretty interesting and i'm going to do a (mostly) reverse read of his books to try and see his style evolve.

Ooooh. I am currently slightly maybe obsessed with zombies just now. Maybe a little/lot.
