I'm not complaining, well, yes I am, but I understand that the books are not really late yet.

It's just that I've finished the first two books in the Mistborn trilogy and I'm dying to get The Hero of Ages! So really, this isn't a complaint thread, more of a tapping my fingers thread. Sigh.

2GeorgiaDawn
Jan 24, 2009, 1:32 pm

I haven't received The Hero of Ages yet either.

Awaiting Fool by Christopher Moore, here.

(Touchstone not working.)

4Violeten

Awaiting Jailbait Zombie myself.

5tardis
Jan 24, 2009, 5:01 pm

I'm waiting patiently for The Sharing Knife - Horizon, but it's not even the end of January so I'm not bothered about it. I waited about 3 months for Any Given Doomsday and I'm STILL waiting for Smoke Gets in Your Eyes from JULY. THAT is late.

6fannyprice
Jan 24, 2009, 6:39 pm

>5 tardis:, Wow tardis - waiting for a July book?

Is anyone else waiting for North Korea Kidnapped My Daughter?

7ThePam
Edited: Jan 24, 2009, 8:07 pm

Tardis: I got a notice from the library that Sharing Knife is waiting for me there. Don't know what that means in regards to receiving it here.

8utoxin
Jan 25, 2009, 12:21 am

In a twisted way... this makes me feel better. I'm still waiting for Hero of ages too. :) I've met Brandon, and live near him. I plan on getting my ER copy autographed. :)

9GeorgiaDawn
Jan 25, 2009, 12:56 am

That's great utoxin. I met Brandon at DragonCon in Atlanta this past year. If he's there again this year, I'll take the ER book and see if I can get a signature.

10tardis
Jan 25, 2009, 11:33 am

I didn't put a request on Sharing Knife: Horizon at the library because I was going to buy a copy anyway - Bujold is one of the few authors I buy in hardcover. So I was THRILLED to get an ER copy but I have to admit, the waiting is getting to me in this case, even though it isn't really all that long yet. sigh.

AFAIK, nobody got Smoke Gets In Your Eyes from July.

11MrsLee
Jan 25, 2009, 11:57 am

#8 I think that's why I started this thread, so we could all be on pins and needles together, a shared experience, so to speak. :)

12SpongeBobFishpants
Jan 25, 2009, 1:17 pm

I got my hand's on Fool: A Novel by Christopher Moore but have still not received North Korea Kidnapped My Daughter. 'Course, I'm so behind reviewing books that I shouldn't even be asking for them!

13HippieLunatic
Jan 25, 2009, 7:50 pm

#12 - When did it get there?

I'm on pins and needles for mine.

14SpongeBobFishpants
Jan 25, 2009, 8:09 pm

#13 - I'm not sure. I got mine from a reviewer who received it and wasn't interested in reading it. He had already moved it from home to his office with a bunch of other ARC's he was giving away so I believe he had had it a few weeks at least.

I'm still waiting for Beverly Jenkins's Bring On The Blessings -- there's no touchstone for it, but the work page is here. I haven't seen anyone else mention anything about it in the ER group... I'll keep (im)patiently waiting!

Has anyone seen Never Tell A Lie yet? Just wondering.

34katylit
Feb 4, 2009, 1:43 pm

#31, no Hiraeth, it's just an inked stamp saying "Royal Mail Postage Paid HQ 3664", although the numbers are a bit smudged so that should be taken with a grain of salt, could be 3004 too. So obviously coming from England, not specifically from where.

You'll be very pleased with the edition, it's really lovely. I hope you get yours soon.

Still waiting for Inside Straight: A Wild Cards Novel - and February is just broke my streak of not being picked for an early review - wonder if it's because I didn't have my latest book to review yet? I had read and reviewed my past two before the following month's selections closed. *sigh*

53bookcrushblog
Edited: Feb 9, 2009, 2:28 pm

@39 zwoolard - I had missed mine( The Dangerous Joy of Dr. Sex) too, and contacted the publisher back in October. He was very nice and said that he had sent the books out almost immediately after getting the list. I resent him my address and he sent me the book (with an extra surprise) very shortly.

If you'd like to contact him too, go to http://www.sfwp.com/

I used the online contact form and selected general inquiries as the category.

Hope this helps!

Yeah, the ER books that are delivered to us after the publication date are a real bummer. I'm trying to remember I'm getting a free book by one of my most favorite authors ever, but I'm having difficulty not stomping my feet and pouting about the fact that I don't have it NOW.

I have also given up on Fool, sadly. I was looking forward to it, too.

I'm still waiting for The Survivors Club - it seems like other people got their copies already.

And yet another two weeks goes by with no sign of Jailbait Zombie. I think we're up to about 3 months now.

Just curious... is anything actually done when the books don't get sent? Are the publishers held accountable in some way? I know it's a free book (though we do "pay" for it with a review) but I think if the publisher makes a commitment to supply these books then they should be held responsible for doing so....and in a timely manner.

Eh, I figure a free book is a free book. I am mildly annoyed about not receiving Fool yet but I have enough in my TBR pile to keep me going for decades. When I start jonesing for Christopher Moore I'll borrow Fool from the local library.

edit: sorry, still can't get the Fool touchstone to work

Yeah, a free book is a free book... (even though I might have been super excited about it).

But with that said, I like to make sure the lack of an ER book receipt doesn't keep me from being in the running for others. (It hasn't so far... I got a February book, received and reviewed already.)

Still no Fool (touchstone not working) here, either. I've checked the local used book store, but they didn't have any copies available (though I did find You Suck which I didn't own yet, so yeah!).

Still no sign of Strangers in the Land of Egypt. Did anyone ever receive a copy?

No sign of the elusive Never tell a lie!

I read the preceding books in the series to prepare for Jailbait Zombie, so if it never arrives, the author/publisher will never get a chance to redeem the series for me! >:-D I was kind of unimpressed after the third book, and was hoping the fourth would be more enjoyable. From where it left off, I won't bother going out to get a copy on my own.

151 > I've also read all the earlier books in the series and I actually thought they got better with each one so I was eager to read Jailbait Zombie. I won't hold it against the author that I didn't get the book, it wasn't his fault. The publisher on the hand.... well, that's another story.

Still no sign of Christopher Moore's Fool: A Novel.

(Argh, touchstone won't load.)

I gave up on Moore's Fool. I'm a big fan of the man, so I'm bummed.

But, I got a February book, a March book, and a March bonus batch book.

I have no place to whine... (But I do so a bit, anyway.)

I'm officially giving up on Never tell a lie, here's hoping that Annie's ghosts shows up!

I snagged a copy of Rock Bottom, but it never showed up. I actually totally forgot about it until I saw this thread.

Has everyone else who hasn't received Jailbait Zombie given up? I mean, wow, it's the end of May, and I still don't have it. Just curious.

I was supposed to receive Jailbait Zombie too, and yes, I have given up.

Do we have to contact Abby directly to make sure she knows who didn't get the books so it doesn't count against us?

I can't believe how many different books have never been received. Is this typical for any given month?

This is the first time I've ever not received an ER book (though once it was months out before it was finally delivered)... and it seems like this is a large list.

I would say, definitely email Abby and let her know you didn't receive it. When I waited months for my other missing book, she removed the black mark from my ER record (since other recipients were also missing it).

Jailbait Zombie--as with the other Felix Gomez novels by Mario Acevedo--is fun to read and well written. Look for Werewolf Smackdown in March 2010

I'm still waiting for The Irish Americans. I haven't seen that anyone received it or has made note of not getting it. Was it really offered or did I dream it?

I have also not received Impatient with Desire! I saw other people did receive copies, but I am still waiting patiently (ha!) to see if my copy comes. I was really interested in reading it.

I meant the (ha!) in regards to *impatient* and *patient*. I didn't want to sound like I was being rude or cheeky about not receiving a book.
