I read this one about 10 years ago (not sure if it was new then or not). It was a YA book, and I believe it was set in Australia or NZ.
I think the book was about the disappearance of a boy. There's also a mystery involved that he was trying to solve (I think). It was presented as a sort of scrapbook or dossier with newspaper articles, journal entries, maybe transcripts of tapes, and descriptions of physical objects found with them.
I know it's not much to go on. I don't remember much of the plot. It was the unique presentation that stood out. Does anybody remember this one?

Possibly Trial by Journal by Kate Klise?

Sorry to have left this so long.
Infiniteletters, that's not it. It seems a little 'younger' than the book I'm looking for. Thanks for checking, though!

Rubbah, the format looks very similar, but I'm pretty sure the book I'm looking for pre-dates widespread Internet.
Also, this may help, I don't think there was any narrator other than the boy that had disappeared. The journal entries were his, but the objects had been collected by the police or agency or something. Reading the book was just like reading through those assembled bits and pieces in a dossier.
