When I click on a recommendation of a book and am taken to the book page, if the book has a subtitle in this form "Title: Subtitle", when I choose to add the book and am taken to the Add Book search page, the subtitle will often defeat the search engine, yielding no result. If the subtitle is removed from the search and the author's name is added ("Title, Author"), then the search works. Is there a less cumbersome way to deal with this problem?

>2 Collectorator: Why don't you just stay on the editions page and grab one of the ISBNs listed beside the books? If there aren't any there, then most likely you aren't going to find ISBN in the MARC records, at least in my experience.

Also, it's sometimes easier to find the record in WorldCat and then use the OCLC number to search LoC.

Funny. I just bumped my own suggestion for this problem.

The problem is that most library records have the title and subtitle in separate fields. If you replace your colon with a comma, it will run the search for the terms in separate fields, and you will likely find your item. At least the substitution of a single character is slightly less cumbersome than deleting the subtitle and typing in the author.
