I read these in the early 90s - was at least 2 or 3 books in the series. A high school girl is recruited by some type of organization because of her psychic ability. I remember they gave her a test at school where she had to stare something projected on the wall and write or draw what she 'saw'. She draws a girl's face outlined in lines and later that day a girl is hit by a car and her face in the windshield looks like the girl's drawing.
She was brought to a house to live with others teens who also had abilities. I remember 1 guy to move things with his mind. I'm forgetting a lot of the details but it turns out that the organization that recruited all the kids is up to no good. There was a love interest for the girl...he helps her at some point when she is in trouble by contacting her mentally and 'talking' to her until she gets through whatever it is that is wrong. Somehow a sensory deprivation tank was involved.....the kids have to escape the house at some point...I have no idea how it ended!
Thanks!

I've definitely read these as well, at my friend's house, but unfortunately I can't remember what they were called. My friend was reading a lot of Christopher Pike at the time, but I'm pretty sure it was a different author (I actually liked it, for one thing).

I remember a couple other details:
There were 2 guys/love interests, one of whom was the leader and was wholesome and tall and blond and nice, and the other guy had dark hair and was kind of mean and brooding. There was at least one other girl, and they each had different powers.
In the last book where the girl's in trouble, the trouble is that she's been put in a sensory deprivation tank, which I guess makes ESP-type people go crazy. The grumpy love interest has been drugged or something, but he keeps himself awake by hurting himself somehow and is able to talk to her mentally the whole time and keep her sane. She ends up with him, and the end is happy for everyone.

I'm almost sure that Christopher Pike was the author... Maybe that rings a bell? Sorry, I can't think of the title and nothing jumped out on his author page.

(Didn't mean to be redundant. flyingcamel posted at the same time as I did.)

flyingcamel - thanks for the extra info, I'm remembering it more now...but not enough to remember the author or title :)
Pretty sure it's not Christopher Pike. I read just about everything he wrote when I was a tween and these were different...and from my memory, better written...I could be wrong though!

Glad to know other people remember these :) Thanks!

You might want to check the books by L. J Smith she wrote at least one series that sounds very similar to what you are looking for. I think the series beginning with The Strange Power might be it. But if not maybe check her other work psychic powers and such seems to be a big part of her work.

ETA Oh thought I'd mention that the sensory deprivation tank bit definitely happens in one of the books (One of the few details I really remember well). And the teens each having different powers. I seem to remember one of the guys calling himself a "teeke" or something like that, since he had telekinesis. Also remember the mind to mind communication.

This is definitely the Dark Visions trilogy by L.J. Smith. Aerulan's right, the first one is The Strange Power.

Dark Visions - yes!

Thank you everyone! Very strange - there was another set of books that I couldn't remember - turned out to be a L.J. Smith series as well...somehow my brain has blocked all memories of Smith! Silly brain.

He (she?) wrote a series about vampires as well - right?

That you azuregirl for the recommend of McCaffery's series. I have wanted to read her maybe it's about time :)

Happy day!

Yup, she wrote about vampires as well. Her books are actually being re-released right now.

There's Vampire Diaries (first book: The Awakening and the Struggle), and also the Night World series (first book: Secret Vampire, Daughters of Darkness, Spellbinder--three in one).
