I saw this book and talked myself out of buying it. Now I can't stop thinking about the storyline. The entire town is transported back in time, and the book is about how they deal with life in the wrong century. I think it's a newer book, at least within the last 5-10 years.

Well, it's not the 17th or 18th century, but the Nantucket books by S. M. Stirling involve a Nantucket town transported back into, I don't know, around the 7th or 8th century. (I may be quite off -- I just don't recall the details right now.) Island in the Sea of Time is the first in the series.

eta: it's actually around the 13th century BCE, so I was pretty far off.

It could also be the series by Eric Flint, starting with 1632. A U.S. town and its environs is transported into Europe in the midst of the hundred years war.
Great series.

Yep, that's definitely it.
