It's time again for a patented Green Dragon Group Read! Since Clam's busy, I volunteered to open nominations for our next book. What would you like to try this time?
As a starter, here's the ballot from the last go-round (minus the winner, or course):
The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. Le Guin
The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch
The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
Solstice Wood by Patricia A. McKillip
A Song for Arbonne by Guy Gavriel Kay
Watchmen by Alan Moore
The Yiddish Policemen's Union by Michael Chabon
Any other suggestions?

I am open to reading any of these. My preference would be for Chabon, Lynch or LeGuin since I haven't read those ones before. This isn't the actual vote, right? Just trying to narrow it down to a shorter list so we can vote?
3Choreocrat
I'd like to read Chabon, but I have a terrible habit of never getting around to the group reads. *blush*

Ditto to Chabon. I do the reads, I just forget to post to the forums...

What happens in a group read? I'm right in the last two weeks of production for The Little Prince (as a musical), so my vote would NOT be for that book. The Chabon sounds interesting. McKillip's Riddlemaster of Hed and The Sorceress and the Cygnet are very good; I've never read Solstice Wood.

Basically we read as time becomes available to us, and then post in the spoiler-thread. Prior to that there's a non-spoiler thread, too. Anyone can join, whenever. More than once have old threads been dug out when someone finally got around to read the book, a year later.
Most people read and post at the same time, though, and usually the threads are started a week or so after the decision WHAT to read is made. It depends on when participants are going to read it - often books must be lent or purchased, and delivery can take time...

At the moment Chabon or Le Guin would get my vote. Like with the Kay I've read LHoD a lot of times but Arbonne was recently and LHoD has been ages, and I've thought about picking it up one more time.

Anything but LHoD which I really disliked.
Little prince would definetly be my favourite of those because I think it's whimsical charm is perfect for the GD.
It's already a sensible sized list for voting on, I have no particular additions to nominate.

I'd like to read The Lies of Locke Lamora.
Some additional noms:
Peter Pan by Barrie, J.M.
Watership Down by Adams, Richard
The Arabian Nights by Byatt, A.S.

I'd also agree with Watership Down Adams, Richard
A Song for Arbonne Kay, Guy Gavriel
Though I wouldn't mind reading Peter Pan Barrie, J.M. or maybe even
The Lies of Locke Lamora Lynch, Scott
Beatles1964

I have never read Watership Down and have always wanted to. I already have an old crappy yellowed (but hopefully still readable) copy!

I would read anything but my votes are for the Lynch or the Chabon. I loved WD but I have already read it and would like to read something new but if it's chosen, I'm game.
18jennieg
Oh, please, not Watership Down! I really hated it.
20cmbohn
I would love to read Watership Down, something by McKilip, or the Chabon.
21katylit
I'd be happy with Lies of Locke Lamora, The Little Prince, Song for Arbonne, Watership Down or Peter Pan or anything by McKilip. Those all sound good to me.
24jennieg
Song for Arbonne sounds promising . . .
26drneutron
Yup. If clam doesn't start up a voting thread tonight, I'll put one together tomorrow morning.
27littlegeek
I'm not voting cuz I've got too many titles on my TBR and none of the candidates interest me enough to knock them off. Still, if you do one I've already read, I'll be happy to offer up my opinions, for what they're worth.

Thanks, drneutron. Sorry I haven't been too active lately. I have a ton going on and one child home sick from school with flu-like symptoms. *tries not to worry too much*

Thanks, Busifer. In addition to the you-know-what virus there are a few kids with mononucleosis at her school. :o/
32jennieg
Oh, clamairy, what a bite. I sometimes felt there was little difference between the public schools and a leper colony.

#32 - Agreed. My old work place was the same.
Problem is she attends a magnet school each afternoon with kids from hundreds of other school districts, so who knows what she's been exposed to. So it goes. She does say she feels better this afternoon, so I am cautiously optimistic.

I hope she's feeling better! My wee one has been back and forth to the docs cos she was covered in spots and the nursery had both Hand, Foot and Mouth and Chicken Pox - turns out it's neither and just a variety of exzema and baby rashes but sheesh! Expensive, time consuming and stressful!
Fingers crossed for you.
Fingers crossed for you.
for you and Sehktmet.
