Here's the deal. My birthday is coming up, and my big present is going to the Hospice Thrift Store, where they have the cheapest/best books ever. AND I might go to the used bookstore down the street, too.

I have too many TBR books. I don't need, or *want*, any more. However, my BookMooch inventory is getting a little thin, so that's my goal that day, to grab up as many random books as I can to put in my inventory.

What does this mean for *you*? I usually have a list with me of friend's wishlisted books, in case I come across one. So list, people, list! Give me 3-5 of the books you want most, and I'll keep the list with me while I shop.

This won't be happening until June 3rd, so you have some time to give me those lists, figure out which you want most, etc.

That's really thoughtful, not to mention enterprising, of you Heather!

Anything by Slavoj Zizek, except Violence.
Anything by Jane Bowles
Anything by Jeff Vandermeer except Veniss Underground
The Iron Council by China Mieville
The Book of Laughter and Forgetting by Milan Kundera

I'm cheating a little with the author names, but it's easier to look out for too, and all of them are heavily wishlisted.

Enjoy your birthday shopping spree!

Just a quick question: is it US only? Or would you be willing to send to France? That would be great!

Whoops, forgot about the country detail. I'm in South Africa.

There's always the Angel option though.

Sheri Tepper - The True Game - any of them but the ones with "Mavin Manyshaped" in the titles!

Thanks TONS!

Macophile, I was recently given Dewey (nice hardback) and probably won't hang on to it once I've read it. If you want to leave me a comment, I'll contact you after I've read it to see if you're still looking for it (no promises on when I'll get to it, though).

Wow - what a wonderful idea!

(Just wondering though - if you don't want any more books on your tbr pile, what do you need books in your inventory for? They will generate new books to read in the end, you know.)

Books I would love and that are not big fat cookbooks:
The mind of a Mnemonist and
The Man with a Shattered World by A.R. Luria,
Dragon's Play by Charles Belyea
Autopoiesis and Cognition by H.R. Maturana
Cosmicomics by Italo Calvino

Of course I don't expect you to actually find any of these, but one can dream ...

*continues making list*

wester: I've cut back on mooching books, but I still love sending them out. The points I get usually go to friends in need of points, or the stray wishlisted book I can nab. I've said before that if I never mooch another book, I'd still send out, 'cause it's so much fun.

You are so kind!

Right now, what I want more than anything is Circle of Ashes by Cate Tiernan. It's one of those cases that a book has gone out of print because it didn't sell well, making available copies "rare", thereby making some people think they can charge upwards of $30 USD for a paperback originally priced at $6! What's worse is that it's the second book of a quartet that I have all other books for.

Barring that rarity, the Tricksters omnibus by Tamora Pierce would be lovely. Not sure if it's open to South Africans, but the Science Fiction Book Club put out this beautiful hardcover of both Trickster books a couple years ago.

Thanks and good luck!

27: ACK!! You have *got* to be kidding me! I went to the library today and saw a Tricksters omnibus in the booksale pile! I wasn't thinking and passed it up. *headdesk* I'll definitely keep a lookout on my spree, though. And yes, it's open to all people worldwide!

Hey Heather

On my birthday last week I happened to get copies of two of the books I asked for - Iron Council and The Book of Laughter and Forgetting. Yay!

If you see those titles you should take them anyway though - they're on plenty of wishlists and will be mooched quickly :)

Since I've scratched two books off my list can I add one request? Anything by Kurt Vonnegut

Happy Birthday Heather! why you must be all of about 21ish now:)
Its so pleasant to hear how others enjoy finding books for others. I'm glad it gives you that satisfaction as well.

I'll stay away from listing newer books but these are hard to find:

Memoirs of a 1000-Year-Old Woman: Berlin 1925 to 1945 by Gisela R. McBride

The Repentant Rake (A Restoration Mystery) by Edward Marston

Natasha's Dance: A Cultural History of Russia by Orlando Figes

Once Upon a Country: A Palestinian Life by Sari Nusseibeh

A Table for One: Under The Light of Jerusalem by Aharon Appelfeld

Thanks for looking, Heather!

Well! Mom took me for a surprise early-birthday book-shopping spree yesterday (thankfully I had the list with me!)

Unfortunately I didn't find *any* of the books on the list (weep, sigh!). I did find LOTS of great books though, some I'm keeping out of my inventory so I can read them first, but most are getting added right away. (oh, and this is NOT the only book-shopping-spree I'll be having, so there is still a chance of me finding some of the books)

I got hardcover copies of Cross Country and Judge and Jury by James Patterson. Who wants first dibs?

I also got quite a few knitting/needlepoint/cross-stitch magazines and small books. I remember BMers liking that kind of stuff, I just can't remember who. Dibs, anyone?

The rest are misc stuff that will be going up in my inventory just as soon as I finish typing out their condition notes (I do it in advance, it's easier that way). Feel free to look! http://bookmooch.com/m/inventory/heather19
