Did anyone watch this last night. It was alright, I suppose. I'll give it one more chance in the hope that it gets better. The acting was pretty bad, the story didn't hook me and there was little magic in it.
Why is the doom box bad? What is a skinwalker? Who are the council? They left too much out.
Did anyone who read the books watch it? Any comparison?

Uh, WHat, When? I didn't know this had made it onto TV. But as I don' have a TV I guess I wouldn't be watching it anyway. Presumably the other side of the pond from me. Anybody know if it is coming this side.
In the first few books not much IS explained. We don'd find any derails of the council till about book or so - other than by inference that they are the rulemakers of the human wizards.

Looks like it could be good. I kind of like it when not everything is laid out for you from the beginning, draws you in more. However, I was unaware that the series was based on books. I'm guessing the books are called the Dresden Files as well?

Storm Front by Jim Butcher is the first one in the series.

I saw it and I liked it. It wasnt riviting but I will keep watching. I didnt know it was a series of books either until yesterday.

The primary problem I have with it is that it really didn't feel like a series premiere (yesterday's episode that is.) The opening kind of felt like it, but then they started throwing around terms like "the council" and "skinwalker" without really explaining them. However, I am looking forward to seeing next week's installment.

Ok, this is probably a bit early to tell in terms of the TV series, but how closely does the show follow the books? Just curious, doesn't really matter either way i guess.

>7 DeusExLibris: As far as I can tell (I haven't read all of the books yet), the 1st story was unique to the TV show. The backstory with his father and uncle seems to follow the books, though.
It was definitely a weak opening episode. I usually give a show a half dozen or so episodes to find their feet, so I'm looking forward to more with hope.

From what I understand, the tv series won't be based off the books until episode four.
I'm a Dresden Files nut, and you can give me the books anyday. There are WAY too many changes, most of all, the character of Bob. I don't want to spoil anything from the books, so I'll leave it at that.
I will keep watching, because there are barely any tv shows that I watch, save 80s and 90s reruns, and to see if they improve.
Then again, even though I watch the Harry Potter movies, I feel they're cheapened, chopped-up versions of the books. **ducks**

HAHA Punkypower.....
I wasnt too impressed with Sunday's episode. I will keep watching but it was kinda boring. I am hoping there is more into the wizardry than the supernatural type stuff....like the show Supernatural, if you know what I mean.
I look forward to reading the HP books but I will watch all the movies first. I might have to pick up the Dresden Files though. I like the idea behind it just not carried so far in the show I guess. Not yet anyway.
