An adult fiction book was recommended to me years ago (in 1980s or early 1990s) and I'm pretty sure I read it, and that it was called The Breadwinner.
At least I think it was. I doubt I would recognise the author, so a cover would be ideal. My memory is hazy about the plot. I'm guessing it was about a woman who worked? It's hard to find a cover with such vague details, but if anyone has any ideas/covers please go ahead and suggest them!

Have you tried entering the title in the search box? It will take you to some possibilities and you can check various covers.

I did try that first. No joy. No covers. If anyone can find the paperback cover for The Breadwinner by Tessa Barclay, that would help. I've tried searching online elsewhere... it is not the tan cover on amazon. I do not recognise the author or plot sadly. So any other suggestions welcome.

The Bread Givers by Anzia Yezierska? I have the book in my library. It's about the life of a girl with immigrant parents at the turn of the century. It follows her quest for education that goes against her father's quest to find good marriages for his children. The cover of mine is red.

I guess you've already checked The Breadwinner by Deborah Ellis? It's also known as Parvana in some countries.

No, not that book (by that cover anyway). It was a paperback. That one pictured is hardcover. The book is still a possibility but I haven't found a paperback cover that matches my memory so far. A vague recollection -- the cover might be darkish with the illustration on one side (right?) of the cover, title in white? I have no idea if that's correct though.
