Hi all!
Next week I'm planning a road trip to check out some UBS that don't know me by name, and I thought I would ask if anyone has anything specific that they would like me to look for. Either specific books, or authors that you have trouble finding. It would be helpful for me if you could also note what genre or section that author would be in. I will be taking specific interest in HQN and Sil books for me, but my lists cover just about everything.
I ship worldwide, so that will not be a issue.

I prefer not to read mass-market paperbacks, so if you are willing to ship trade hardcovers and trade paperbacks to the US, I am interested in titles from any of these authors:
Philosophy/Linguistics/Feminism
Judith Butler
Audre Lorde
Web Design/Internet
Eric Meyer
Fiction/Poetry
Charles Bukowski
Lance Olsen
Geoff Ryman
Speculative Fiction : Fantasy / Science Fiction / Horror / Weird
Neal Asher
Tony Ballantyne
Ted Chiang
Greg Egan
Harlan Ellison
Nalo Hopkinson
Gwyneth Jones
China Mieville
David Mitchell
Jeff Noon
Justina Robson
Lucius Shepard
Charles Stross
Sheri Tepper
James Tiptree, Jr.
Jeff VanderMeer
Vernor Vinge
My apologies for the long list. Please feel free to pare it down to a comfortable level. I have enough points to mooch 4 or 5 of these titles this month.

It is so nice of you to offer! I've been interested in a copy of Polymorph by Scott Westerfeld which is an adult sci-fi novel he wrote. I'm not really willing to pay the $14+ for it on Amazon and maybe you can find a more inexpensive copy on your travels.

You're sweet, Mare!
I am interested in anythingby Georgette Heyer (she wrotes Regency romance, mysteries, and historical fiction).
I'm also a huge fan of P. G. Wodehouse, the king of British humor. It's a long shot but if you saw any audiobooks on CD by him, I would just die of happiness :). Same for any Heyer books on CD.

Wow, thanks for offering!
For me, I'd have to ask for how-to-draw books of any kind, or Ann Vandermeer's Steampunk.
Oh, and if you get lucky enough to find any volumes of the manga xxxHolic. I don't care what number. My local Barnes and Noble never has it for some reason.

You are so nice!
I am desperately trying to find:
Free-range knitter: The yarn harlot writes again by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee
I believe that it is classified as a novel-although Amazon lists it under "crafts and hobbies".

So long as nonsmoking? If you have a look at my LT wishlist that is more accurate a description than the BM one, since I removed most duplicates from the former. I find that looking at wishlisted books, they tend to pop out at you when you are browsing secondhand bookshops, even if you aren't thinking of them at the time. Thanks! I'm mainly interested in children's/YA fiction (older mostly).
Sorry I haven't a clue what you mean by UBS . . .

Books in the 'Classics of Western Spirituality' series - I'm trying to get a complete collection of these books in my library, but I have only a half dozen or so I'll take anything you find. They have a fairly distinctive look (you can see cover images for a few of them here):
Jacob Boehme: The Way to Christ (Classics of Western Spirituality)
Rabbinic Stories (Classics of Western Spirituality)
Apocalyptic Spirituality (Classics of Western Spirituality)
They'll be scattered all over the Religion section, since the books cover classic texts from Christianity, Islam, Judaism, several Native American religions, and other random religions. On the spine they'll have 'Classics of Western Spirituality' printed at the top in little letters, and the covers all have the title going up the left side like the books linked above.
:) Hopefully you can find some for a reasonable price! I'll mooch 'em all!

So sweet of you....
Right now I'm desperate for Tamora Pierce's Trickster's Choice
as well as any of the Cassandra Clare Mortal Instruments books. I won't pay that much money for the books too much in my oppinion.

Thanks for the offer! I'm currently collecting Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Relaunch books. These are not part of the numbered series from the show but were released after the show ended. I have the first 5, but would appreciate A Stitch in Time (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) by Andrew J. Robinson, Unity (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) by S.D. Perry, any of the Mission Gamma books (like Twilight (Star Trek Deep Space Nine: Mission Gamma, Book 1)), any of the Worlds of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine books (like Worlds of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Volume One), the 2 Left Hand of Destiny books (The Left Hand of Destiny: Book One by J. G. Hertzler), Warpath by David Mack, Fearful Symmetry by Olivia Woods, The Lives Of Dax by Marco Palmieri, Rising Son (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine). I know that's a lot, but I'd be thankful for any of these. I'm not overly concerned about condition; thanks again.

Oh! Can I add another one to my above request? Backup by Jim Butcher. It is a thin, hardcover urban fantasy that was way over priced upon publication. However, I've taken the book out from the library four times in the last three months and am thinking I should get a copy of my own.

Hi all,
So I have managed to find a few books:
The Fundamentals of Drawing: A complete Professional course for artists by Barrington Barber. For TheLeMer
StarTrek: deep space nine the left hand of destiny books one and two for praetorian1717
psybre, I did not find any trade paperbacks of the authors that you listed, but I did find two mass market paperbacks (which are so old I hardly paid anything for):
Harlan Ellison: Web of the City
James Tiptree, Jr, Ten Thousand Light Years from Home.
I'll be posting these on BM soon (later tonite, tomorrow) and for now will be reserving them for those who requested them. I'll leave the reserve for a week, so if you do not want these (already have them or prefer different editions) once the reserve expires the books will be back on the open market.
It was a good trip, I found several books for me and would have prolly gotten more had my friends not reminded me that schools starting again this fall...
Edit: For the rest of you, I'm sorry. The one bookstore I went to the guy working just took the list from my hands and went looking, and thats where I found the most. The other bookstore had a clueless lady working who readily admitted that she did not read and did not know what they had in stock, nor did she seem to care.

Mare, I hope you had a fun trip. How many books did you find for yourself? I hope several!
27Mareofthesea
I think I ended up with 6-7 books for myself. It was a great mail day today too, I think I got 8 packages today. My tbr shelf now has almost 100 books on it, which NEEDS to get smaller before school starts again...
