Just had a small hop over to my profile page and noticed that the most recent activity is wrong. The last books I apparently rated were actually rated months (if not years) ago.
Wrong are: The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide, Inter Ice Age 4, Het huis van de moskee, and De Movo tapes.
Correct are: The Life and Death of Yukio Mishima and Fullmetal Alchemist: Volume 18.
ETA: And that should have been "on" the title of this post and not "of"

I have the same problem as # 1 above -- what shows up as "Most Recent Activity" for me actually isn't. What I have done recently is slightly amend the title or author's name on some of these books -- but I didn't think that qualified as "recent activity." I thought "recent activity" was either adding or rating a book, nothing more. Has the definition of recent activity changed?

Yeah - this bug has been around since that feature was introduced. I vaguely recall talk posts on it before, but it's hard to find them.
Basically yep - most edits on a previously entered book to do with Title, Author (including added "author" in the new dropdown I think), AS WELL AS ratings or reviewed, will put that book back in your profile as if you just added, reviewed or rated it. It may do it if you change a cover. I'm not sure on that one.
I don't think it adds to your profile if you edit your comments or private comments.
I'd prefer that the algorithm was changed to only include previously entered books that had either their ratings or reviews edited/added. Not the other fields.

Thanks, Ryn, I wasn't aware of this.

I'm experiencing this problem again, though this time books are showing up in my Most Recent Activity that I did absolutely nothing with. I haven't even looked at them in a long time. Why would they show up as Recent Activity?

In this post, http://www.librarything.com/topic/77663#1618308, Tim says that they're doing some sort of background processing to improve the data in books. Perhaps it's updating some sort of last changed timestamp when it does so causing it to show up on the Most Recent Activity list.

>8 jjwilson61:, could be, but I'm fairly certain I have other books with more recent changed timestamp. Anyway, nothing serious. I'm just curious.

My bad. I realize now what happened. I did recently change the author of "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight" from the editor to "Anonymous," and I edited author Stephen Ambrose's name in "Undaunted Courage." That caused both books to pop in my recent activity. My mistake, and sorry I cried wolf!
