I just found this website and I'm in heaven! My sister lived overseas and sent my kids a few books that were staples of their childhood. Thought I'd pass them along. One was Tin-tin (soon to be made into a movie I hear) and also the Moominpeople books (sorry I don't remember the author).
Happy reading.

also enid blyton. she's terribly popular overseas but no one seems to read her here. and, this is non-fiction, but terry deary's horrible history, horrible science and horrible geography are LOADS of fun for the middle school set. history with all the nasty bits left in!
